  1. When i tumble i started with just corn cob that came with the tumbler. i just got into the pet store walnut for 3 dollars and i usually put in half a cap to a full cap of Nu finish they come out pretty nice and shiney. To me i guess one downside for the first few times you tumble with pet store walnut is that i had a lot of i guess you would say walnut powder "dust" but after a few times of taking it out to take cases out it gets better. I will keep using the walnut since it is cheap and works. Hope this helps you some Joey

    Line Rider

I can tell you he can ride a half pipe like a champ. one thing he doesnt like steep slopes haha
  3. After i saw that the rounds were like that i went to check to make sure the sizing die was all the way down and it was. When i tightened it wasn't with a peace of brass in the die maybe that could be a reason. i checked them with a gauge and 10 of them would not fall into the gauge. its just weird in how it will only do it on a few of them not all of them.
  4. That looks pretty darn good to me. i was wondering how they stippled the grips. I am tempted to try it on mine or just smooth the hole grip out and put skateboard tape. Good job looks really nice Joey
  5. Hello thanks for the reply i have not fired this ammo through the gun yet. They are for my g/f new open gun that is being built right now and the gunsmith wanted me to make some rounds for functionability. Now if they came out of an opened chambered barrel im not sure. Thanks for the reply joey
  6. It was the first time for me it was picked up at an indoor range so i have no clue how many times it has been loaded. I was thinking it could be cause of loading to many times and the wall just becoming weak. I want to say the majority of it was on nickel plated and a few of them were brass.
  7. Hello every one yesterday i decided i would sit down in the garage and reload some ammo since its our first day of cool weather down here in the rio gande valley. I was loading some 38 super and out of the 100 i loaded stopped after that cause i noticed that on the bottom of the shell there would be a crease and it only occurs on one side of the shell not all the way around. wasn't sure why it was doing this i figured my sizing die was not all the way down against the shell plate but it was. tried it again and it did it to a couple of them. I am loading on an xl650 press with dillon carbide dies every thing is brand new and i was wondering why it would be making this crease in the case during the sizing operation. here is a picture of a few that it did it to. tell me what you think the problem could be thanks for answering to another one of my million questions haha Joey
  8. Thank you all for the quick replys. i know i need to get a chrono will do soon i hope haha. well thanks again for the quick replies. joey
  9. Hello every one i am not able to get to a chrono at this time and i have shot about 200 rounds of it already and i was wondering what kind of pf you all think i am shooting at. i am loading Montana gold FMJ 180grn loaded to 1.165 with 4.6grns of titegroup and a .421 crimp with Winchester small rifle primer. I am shooting it out of a 5in. sti Edge Thanks for taking the time to read my question. Joey
  10. Thank you all for replying. I was checking to see if any one put any thing else and found that Keninaz loads exactly what i just made. making a couple of them to see how they feel. Thanks for taking the time to read my question Joey
  11. Hello every one i have another question haha. I was wondering what is a reasonable starting load for a 38 super using a Montana gold RN 124grain bullets and accurate #7 powder and Winchester small pistol magnum primers. My g/f gun is almost finished up and going to need to start loading for her open gun and was just wondering i have heard to use about 11 grains of AA#7 what do you all use or think i should start at???? I am going to start with the 1lb jug of AA#7 but as soon as that is done going to use VV 3n37. Thanks for taking the time to read this Joey
  12. I was wondering if i could dry fire my .22 i haven't but it has been a thought. Only thing that made me thing it would be ok is that its a kimber 22 conversion which seems like it uses a regular style firing pin but flat and of course off set on the slide so that it strikes the edge of the case.
  13. Thanks for all the thoughts on practicing with a 22. I figured any shooting is better than none. Sure is cheaper to shoot a 22 then even reloaded 40's. today i shot a a local once a month steel match and decided i would use the 22 which seemed fun. I can say i feel like i can shoot steel better than i can ipsc targets haha. well i guess ill be doing a lot of dry firing and once or twice a week live fire at the range. If school lets me that is. Well thanks all for posting to my question I really do learn alot from this board!!!!!! Joey
  14. I reload already haha. have a dillon 650 spent all my money on reloading and the new sti edge. Sure does get expensive but they say with this sport once you buy it all its all your going to need i hope hahaha.
  15. Hello as some of you might now i am fairly new to the sport and haven't really practiced only go and shoot the weekly matches. I was wondering if i could practice with my 1911 with a kimber 22 conversion on top. I am a college student right now so money is tight at the moment and i try and save all my bullets for match nights and not practice. Since i have a 22 conversion which is a lot cheaper to shoot reason why i was wondering if it is worth practicing with that. I am pretty sure any practice is better than no practice but just seeing if i really need to use my 40 caliber. I go to pretty much every weeks shooting match and almost all the Sunday steel matches. so all my ammo i try and save for those and not use for practice since i have a limited supply at the time. I just wont your alls thoughts on this. Thanks for taking the time to read my post Joey
  16. i have all the equipment for relaoding and use it all. i just never checked the crimp by measurement. i would pull the bullet and check to see if it cut threw the plated rainier bullets. since they are a soft coat.
  17. Hello I was wondering what the majority of the people out there use when they make the round. I hear from some people to use small rifle primers and at the same time others are saying use small magnum pistol primers. What is the advantage/disadvantage of using any of those primers? I am just starting to load 40 cal. ammo and have been loading 45acp. So when I get to 40 some people say us standard primer others say uses rifle and others say us magnum. They are all the same price just which one would you all recommend. Thanks Joey
  18. Hello thanks for sharing on how to find out how much crimp I am putting into my rounds. I have never thought or heard about checking it until I started reading this board. I would just look at it and use my judgment to keep the way it is or put more or less crimp. Thanks again for explaining how to check the crimp Joey
  19. You just measure at the edge of the case?? where you see it rolled over???
  20. i just got 1 grams base pad from one of the guys i shoot with at are weekly ipsc shoots. nice pad only thing i didn't like about it was that they are plastic or the one i got is. i like the little heavier aluminum Dawson pads. but with the grams i was about to squeeze in 2 more rounds.
  21. How do you check in how much crimp you are putting on your bullets when made??? do yo all use a mic or some other measuring tool? When i read the board looking at peoples different powder usage oal and then i see crimp like .420 or .006 or something of that nature how do they get these numbers. just curious once again joey
  22. Thanks for all the helpful information!! what is the equations to convert grains to grams???? haha just messing around. but thanks again for help really appreciate it. I shoot local ipsc match once a week and been having a good time i am kind of getting the bug to want to go up state at shoot at a bigger match just to see what it is like and experience it every one at our local range keeps telling me i should. Its fun maybe when i get a little bet i will travel a little bit and make a match some where else Thanks Joey
  23. +++1 on the dillon dies they have worked great for me and easy to clean! Not sure if any other dies are the same but on the seating die i like how you can flip the seater from a Rn bullet to a wadcutter. Great idea there i think.. Joey
  24. I use a rainier 230grn. bullet with W231@ 5.2 grains. with winchester primers. They seem to work pretty well in my kimber 5in. I was planning on gettin a lb of clays but i picked up an sti 40. So i went with some tite group for that one instead of getting another lb of my 45 haha. I was thinkin about clays before the .40 came around. i have heard alot of good things about it and was curious to try it out. Maybe one day ill pick up a Lb of it and try it out.... Joey
  25. Those Winchester NT sure do stir things up when your loading LP primers and come up to one with a Sp primer. sure does lock up your system haha. I am new to the reloading and i sort my brass but every once in a while i get a win NT here and there pretty much pop it out and toss it into a can. I never thought i would use them but now that i load 38 super and 40 s&w sure would make life easier not having to change out primer disk's Joey
