"seems like" is not always reality. take whatever time is necessary to get your sights, without prejudice, emotion, or frustration.
the timer will give you the ultimate answer.

if hes a well known gunsmith then his email and/or phone number is also well known.

if the screws are stripping and just spinning, you are using too big of a drill, go down a size and try to get 75% thread contact at least.

hope you guys are having fun

ill say this, theres more than one way to skin a cat or fit a barrel.
So If the barrel hood, locking lugs, and barrel feet properly tell the muzzle end of the barrel where to go, then theres no problem at all with top and bottom lockup/contact at the muzzle.
what happens a lot in new guns is that their barrels sometimes need to find their place and settle in, but that usually happens after the first mag or two. and those rounds should be shot by the builder

I know another furniture maker in my area who is getting into gun work, must be in the blood.

This is a multigun rifle forum
and that gun is legal at mine, and other 3gun matches.

With deference to the gentlemen above, and to expand,
barsto WN ramped barrels also have a large radius between VIS and the under ramp flat. if you happen to DO have a ramped frame; a WN ramped frame more specifically, Youll have to either chamfer the WN cut corner or remove material from the barrel.
However Im not even sure you have a ramped frame, in which case you might as well be picking your nose with your elbow, cause it wont come close to fitting either.
also, the first thing you do is fit a barrel to the slide, and then fit both slide and barrel to frame. Actually , no, the first thing you do if thats going to a gunsmith and you want to get your moneys worth, is send that barrel back for a gunsmith fit barrel. if you are going to pay a pro to fit it, give him every opportunity to do his best. and an oversized barrel can do that.

what it REALLY is, is that they are selling sights to knuckleheads that dont know how to install them, and rather than lose their business, they are idiot proofing the sights, at the expense of the usefulness of the product if it were to be installed properly.

get a sharpie and mark up the back and sides of the hood.
Since you have a factory barrel, start measuring dimensions with a caliper and compare to the kkm. you will find where it is tight fairly easily.
just keep your filing to the back of the hoon and the sides of the barrel hood. since it snaps in with some effort, you are probably verrrry close so dont do too much. check fit every swipe or two of a stone/emery/file

you gotta get it from an angle. Get a bright flashlight and knock it out from inside that cavity. Youre prob hitting the wrong side

It is a really bad idea on an SLP!!! Matter of fact it is just a bad idea all the way around, but like so many times I have said "I wouldn't do that SH*T if I were you" there will be a bunch of guys needing to buy new lifters after a while.....have fun with the grinder! Right Lance??? Want to chime in Sterling??? Tim Ubl, any comments for the chosen few???
hahaha!
If my thumbs getting guillotined, I dont want a dull one, some guys dont use their thumbs tho!

IMO, the wide frame provides more bearing surface for the bottom of the slide and will wear more slowly.
the slide doesnt usually "bear" on the wide part of the dustcover, and contact forward of the rails is usually incidental

email the author of that article and tell him to help you fix it.

KIM's games are typically ten objects. They can be close together on a poncho or spread out on a lawn. You only have a set amount of time to observe the objects usually not more than 90 seconds total. But the observation time is broken up in to four or five blocks and under some type of physical stress. Push ups, jogging in place whatever you want. At the end, you will number a piece of paper 1-10, draw picture of the item, list size, shape, and what it appears to be. The game can last as little as five minutes to as long as an hour or two as you progress. The length of time is from when you last observed the objects to when you record them. When you have done the games for a while you can observe the objects and then do a target detection and then record the objects from the KIM's game. After doing this for about three to four times a week for three or more weeks you will start to notice everything around you when driving, taking a walk, or at work. May seem a little silly the first time you do the exercises but they work.
thank you very much for the reply.

In my opinion, with respect, it is your reloads that are to blame ultimately, winchester only made a component that you chose to use in your reloaded ammunition

then you will need it sooner or later

Why do you need one? Been reading threads in the shotgun forum? lol

If slings are too complicated for shooters then they should take up a sport that does not involve the use of firearms. Slings are the equivalent to holsters.
well done
