  1. Sig P228 9mm. Because it's what I had when I started although it's served me well.
  2. Anyone have a suggestion for a concealment vest for IDPA matches? Probably something on the cheap side since I'd never wear such a contraption anywhere other than the firing line at a match.
  3. Thanks for the info, hadn't thought about the SSP weight cap but I don't really care for lda trigger anyhow. I found a older single action P18.9 with the normal extractor and am working on closing the deal. Looking forward to trying it out once it gets here.
  4. I I do not know if they are IDPA legal since all I shoot is IPSC. The TS is a great shooter. I love the way it points and the extra weight helps with felt recoil. Unfortunetly, The TS is too heavy for IDPA.
  5. What division would the single action trigger put me in for USPSA? I'm looking at a traditional SA trigger, to match my .45 1911, and for use in the ESP IDPA division. Thanks.
  6. Still searching for a competitive IDPA gun to replace my sig p228. The Para looks to be a reasonably priced double stack 1911 in 9mm with reasonably priced magazines. What division would the P18 fall into in USPSA? Any comments about their use as a game gun platform? Thanks.

    Cdp

I have a Kimber Custom CDP 5". Nice pistol, but like the Tactical model it has an alloy frame. This means two things: 1) Always use Wilson magainzes to avoid chipping. 2) The lighter weight, although great for carry, does little for IDPA matches where the extra weight of a SS frame would help keep you on target.
  8. I'm still not too clear on the differences in divisions yet between Limited and Open. Shopping around for my first ar15 after shooting a 3gun match recently. In general, what features makes a good, versitle, three gun rifle? What features should be avoided? Thanks
  9. Thanks Patrick. I think I'm going to try a Glock 35 if the 9mm conversion is still IDPA legal. I was hoping the CZ would swap a bit easier but your post was the info I was hunting for this morning.

    9mm G35 Questions

I've searched through some threads about 9mm G35s and have a few questions. You can convert the g35 to 9mm but not convert the g34 to .40sw. Makes sense for the slide/barrel diameter fit. Is a G35 with a 9mm barrel IDPA legal? The least expensive barrel sounds like a 'Federal' around $60? For most of you, all you have to swap is the barrel and magazines for the change? Extractor & recoil spring work for both .40 & 9mm? Is a G35 9mm conversion any less reliable than a G34? thanks.
  11. Don't think steel guide rods or any weight-addition mods fly in IDPA.
  12. I know a .40 75sa exists, my question is If I buy it, can I drop a 9mm barrel in it? So that I'll have a 9mm IDPA ESP pistol and a .40 Limited/Major pistol for IPSC by only swaping $200 of parts. Thanks.
  13. I'm still looking for an ESP gun for IDPA matches. I like the single action cz75 but want something I can turn into a .40 if or when I start shooting more IPSC matches where major makes a difference. Can any of the CZ75s be converted to .40sw? Or rather, I assume I'd probably have to buy a .40 version, and then a new recoil spring, 9mm barrel, and magazines. How much trouble would it be to switch back & forth? I like the CZ, just curious if it's convertable like the Glock 35.
  14. The xD falls in the ESP category putting it up against hi-cap 1911s, modified glocks, and other single action autos. Springfield marketing it as SA knocked it out of the SSP division.
  15. Need is indeed a subjective word. Springfield does make a rather inexpensive 9mm 1911 but I've only seen 9 round magazines for it. Any higher cap magazines exist for it and still IDPA legal? The cheapest double stack 9mm 1911 seems to be $1500 or more for an STI. For some reason I doubt the CZ75 TS would be legal for IDPA, bit if so, does it use the same magazines as other 75's? The CZ75TS is listed at 2.8lbs / 44.8oz. I believe the IDPA ESP cap is 43oz. I have shot a nicely tuned CZ75 SA and enjoyed it. (it weighs in at a hefty 35.2oz stock)
  16. I've been shooting IDPA matches pretty regularly and do fairly well with my Sig P228 9mm in SSP. It's far from an ideal game gun but it works for me. I also have a Kimber CDP .45 that I'll try in the CDP division once I get some more practice on it. I'm in the processes of rounding out my collection for an ESP but also an AR and shotgun since shooting my first 3gun match recently. Given the shopping list with required holster, magazines, etc, funds are slightly constrained for each. (adding all three to the safe before i get married soon ) I've never been a Glock fan although I can't say I've had any trouble shooting the few I've tried. My biggest debate at the moment is between a 9mm and .40. My USPSA buddy gives me grief about shooting the 9mm. Most of the local matches are IDPA. I don't reload and don't have the time to even entertain the idea. A range trip a week is already hard enough to work in now. What will a .40 buy me in competitions outside of IDPA (seems no good reason for .40 in IDPA)? Considering the following so far: Glock 35 + Readily available and priced right. + Cheap magazines & parts. - Grip angle unlike anything else i shoot. - Kaboom-hype on the mind. (?) 9mm conversion barrels available CZ 75 SA 9mm + Points well for me & feels closer to my 1911s + Priced right. - Somewhat rare in competition. (?) Any 9mm/.40 convertable models? 1911 in 9mm + Just like my 1911s -- pretty much double the cost of the other two options.
  17. First post. My name is barry and I've been an IDPA addict for 3 months now. I didn't eat all day, first nice warm sunny day, on the final stage I engaged the first 3 targets and then moved to cover to engage the fourth. While moving, I saw target 1 through a different window and somehow didn't recognize it as the target I already shot, I put another 2 on it. RO debated a procedural but was talked out of it by other people on our squad. Learned that eating something would probably keep the mind sharper and I need to do a better job of seeing the course of fire during the briefing.
