  1. They aren't designated as softcover in the WSB so far, so my guess would be hard cover as per 9.1.6
  2. Alright with Stage 2 in the books, and us well on the way to full Sanctioning, I present to you the new Stage 2
  3. If stage setup is done properly (meaning a really anal stage prep crew and yes I know I'm likely volunteering for this task with these very words), the targets can be set at equal distances to the shooting area to bring the symmetrical targets into alignment. The only weird one I can see are the drop outs and those can be set so that they drop out within an inch or two of each other. These tolerances are no more than you find with a set of target sticks that can wiggle forward and backward in the wind. Kevin
  4. Guys. This isn't that difficult. If NROI has an issue it will be addressed. I know I thought of color blind shooters when I first looked at the stage and figured we would more likely paint the targets yellow and blue. Again it's a trivial thing to "fix" if it needs to be done. Even if those new rules get approved, they won't go into affect until a new rulebook is published which won't be until next year. I've shot this sort of stage multiple times and have found it to be a fun challenge. Most recently I shot something similar with cups and red and white balls at the ProAm down in Florida. There is no penalty for shooting a "wrong" colored target other than lost time. The last plate on the texas star is painted black to represent hard cover so hit it or not it doesn't cost you anything but time. It isn't a scoring target.
  5. I just confirmed the link is still good and it is a 6.5mb file. It's a .zip file and will have to be uncompressed so you may not be able to see it on mobile devices at this time. I'm taking a stab at converting the stages to sketchup to give a bit more feel to the stage experience. I have been working on stage 1 so you have an idea.
  6. Stages have been submitted to NROI so these are pending approval but here are the stages! 2013 GA State Championship Stages - (Pending Approval)
  7. Actually that highlighted a mistake in the matchbook. I hadn't updated the match summary on page 8 from last year's match. The updated file is now online for those that wish to dl the proper version. The total round count is 231 for 1155 points in the match. Sorry about the confusion. http://www.gastatechampionships.com/images/stories/2012gastatematchbook.pdf
  8. The matchbook is now online for those interested. http://www.gastatechampionships.com/index.php/matchbook or the direct link http://www.gastatechampionships.com/images/stories/2012gastatematchbook.pdf
  9. The match fee is a little hidden I agree. If you go to register for the match, the registration page has the information in a popup menu but I'll copy it here so you have your answer without the extra steps. Match Fee = $100 Late Match Fee after August 26th = $125 Junior Match Fee = $50 Late Junior Match Fee after August 26th = $75 RO's shoot for free if they work the whole match. Hope that helps you out and hope to see you at the match! =]
  10. Squad List and Itinerary are final and posted on the website. I'm working on the matchbook now and should have it live in a day or so. http://www.gastatechampionships.com/index.php/info
  11. I picked up a few Safariland certificates from some prize tables and turned them into a belt, 6 ELS and 1 QLS. I'm trying to see if anyone has repurposed their CR Speed versa pouches for use with the ELS attachments. So far it looks fairly straight forward in needing to do a bit of drill and dremel for the t-nuts, but before I started in on them I figured I'd check to see what others have done, if anything. Thanks!
  12. Amazing match this years guys! Phil and Shannon and Kelley and all the rest that I'm forgetting or don't know about, you put on a top notch match with stages that blew away last year's. I did wind up leaving a folding blue and silver Pico chair after the awards ceremony. I've called Frank and spoken to Crystal and they do not see where anyone turned it in for lost and found. If anyone knows who might have picked it up I'd be happy to pay to have it shipped back to me. It was left at the back side of the tent during the awards ceremony. I was anxious to get on the road and didn't realize I'd left it until I was 8 hours away and very sleep deprived. The chair looks like this... Thanks to any that can help. Kevin Allen (404) 803-7574
  13. Okay since I don't see a thread for this already, I'll start one here. Glock GA State Championship website September 7-8, 2012 at the Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville, GA. This is the same location as last year for those that remember it. ROs and a few extra slots available on the 7th with everyone else shooting the 8th in a half day format. This year we are pleased to have Glock back on board as our Match Sponsor again. We are continuing the half day format as we did last year so you shoot the entire match in a half day. To make this happen, we use smaller squads and a ton of RO's so you can stick to shooting and leave the stage resetting to us. This year will be a Cash Payback match and we will be leveraging technology to help with match registration/sigh-up, squadding, and scoring. Under the registration link at the GA State Championship website is a link to our match at Shootandscoreit.com Register for a free account at that site to allow for match registration Payments can be electronically taken at that site to handle your match fees. This supports all of the various fee structures so ROs and Junior shooters can still use this system. Squadding is also online at this website so you can manage your own sqadding after you register. Scoring at the match will use PractiScore software running on handheld tablets. This allows us to update all the scoring in real time and generate results within minutes of the last shot fired! This has been a trememdous time saver at our local matches. We often have the scores in our mailbox before we even get home! Peter Oliver is taking the lead again as Match Director and has been soliciting stage designs from the clubs in the GA Section. He will no doubt be adding his own brand of quirky outside the box stages to the mix (there is talk of another jungle run or two) so you can look forward to an outstanding challenge. Sponsors are being contacted now, but if you wish to sponsor the match at any of our various levels, there is an email link for the Match Director available from the website.
  14. Yeah but at far more than twice (nearing 3 times as much actually) the cost of a custom tuned CZ Shadow, the Sphinx lasting twice as long still doesn't fit into a good economy of scale. You could have two to three custom Shadows for the price of a single Sphinx. I still haven't shot one of these and I'm still very interested in getting my hands on one and possibly buying one to shoot. So far Sphinx and Kriss arms haven't been returning emails with my inquiries about when and how to purchase one. They are not sending out a nice warm fuzzy that they are actually being sold in the US yet so I guess we just keep on waiting.
  15. Must be present to win random prizes? Is that to save you from having to ship items? If so then if someone is there to pick up a prize for someone would they still be eligible to win said prize? If not then what is your reasoning behind that policy? Thanks!
  16. "Before the last shot fired" is always preferred to "before taking the last shot". How exactly in the rule book does one take a last shot? What does it mean to "take" a shot? Just a suggestion from a DRL.
  17. A possible suggestion on the stage procedure that might lead to less confusion/arbitration... Engage T1-T5 from within the fault lines. After the first shot fired, but before the last shot fired, perform a mandatory reload. Failure to perform the reload will result in a procedural per shot fired. 1) Trying to determine engagement of particular targets and what order the shooter used for their run leaves too much wiggle room in the procedure. If you tie the procedure/reload to shots fired, it makes the RO's job much simpler. 2) Without the procedural being that harsh it would be simple to game this and take the procedural for the far faster time. 3) I would look hard at making this a Virginia count stage as well considering the RO's need to round count.
  18. Thanks fro your patience everyone. Busy work day. The Match Results are online at http://www.gastatechampionships.com/index.php/results including the unofficial combined results.
