  1. Ha. I do miss the year round matches already. My season is over so atleast I can focus on orders with no distractions until Feb. I'm going to come to atleast 1 match down there next season. Hopefully see y'all there!
  2. Tevo or panda. The tevo has a high thumb angle that is more ergonomic and comfortable for a lot of people. If used correctly as a reference point and rest spot for thumb instead of a place to push down. If your fighting the fun with your single thumb, it will deflect to the side and cause second fast shots to hit right from pushing the thumb and essentially twisting the gun to side. I use a lot of tevo on orders but the panda is pretty nice too. Have it in one of my personal guns and will get used to that one over winter.
  3. BUL is another proprietary system. There are plenty of other US custom manufacturers that are in this general price range. For a custom non-production line gun too. There are also plenty of gently used 2011 race guns made by those same custom shops out there for sale.
  4. I talked to him a couple weeks ago. Still getting up and running in TX. He's got a while yet until he's pumping them out. Sadly I just wrapped up order with final 3port and only have 2x 2ports left. Sad panda.
  5. Good morning, Throughout most of the year I can maintain the 8-9 weeks lead time. This time of year gets real busy with season over and people looking for next year's tools. I am sitting around 10 weeks right now as it's been picking up right on schedule. Maybe/probably sooner but I like to leave buffer space if you know what I mean. Feel free to reach out via email, phone, or website messenger for more info. Happy to chat regularly with folks. Breaks up the day of standing at mill! Jason Bauman -Defions Arms
  6. I'm very active on the normal social media's for my personal page and the business pages. I need to be on here more interacting. Like many, I have been a lurker on here for ages. Never saw need for an account tbh until a couple years ago. Enos is a great repository of information and all that so I'll try. I will say that all the custom houses like myself are great manufacturers and make beautiful guns. The platform can only be so different from one variant to another. The important things are what are you looking for in appearance, price range, wait times. Even regional favorites with their cult like followings lol. Before I made this full time I was doing it as side hustle while active and constantly deployed. We also moved a couple times. We are retired now and its full time and maybe I can get some of that regional following going up here in Area1 haha. Right now I have shooters scattered all over. Big take away is yeah, I am small and can maximum right now do 4 ish guns a month. I've been able to maintain my 6-8 weeks lead on all but one order in the last 3 years due to customer wanting something specific that was out of stock for an eternity! We all started small and somewhere that isn't a mass production facility. That's me, . Shoot me a message in here, call me at website/Google phone number, or email me. All that info is in my bio on here. Yall have great day, I have a mill to run.
  7. I have had some major issues of late with a certain finisher dinging frames or slides after they'd been finished and then sending it to me like that! Huge dings through the finish to the steel. That being said, it was cleaned up, re-finished and good to go. A second and third time though being stripped down and redone?! Yeah, I would never send that to a customer. It's tolerances would be way off by that point.
  8. *wave Like I tell a lot of people, you can't count on most people to do reviews! Take it for what it's worth, I've had many shooters tell me it's their best gun among many quality guns. I'm not here to advertise or promote myself. But I stand by my product and have shooters all over the US and 2x international. Most people don't hang out in these forums anymore so there's that. This is my full time profession now and only plan to continue to expand and grow. If anyone wants to chat shoot me an email or look us up on fb/ig.
  9. Yeah I was a JTAC-I forever and JTAC-E for while too. 3BN the whole decade I was there.
  10. @Kamber...unrelated to post, although I do center the mounts on our guns, just wanted to say "First in Asia!". Haha. Saw your profile picture figured I would say hello from fellow 1st Grouper.
  11. Yeah I only use KKM barrels in my limited and single stack guns. They haven't been available for a while with rib so I been using the schuemann barrels because they are available. Appreciate the sketch!
  12. I've been using Schuemann hybrid barrels for my limited and open builds up until now. Great barrels and frankly easy to mill them as you only need one straight cut 7/16 endmill. The choices are only govt 5" and commander 4.25" though for the threaded hybrid barrels. I'm looking at starting to also use SVI or KKM (if they ever come back on stock) island barrels. Specifically so I can get thr 4.6 middy design going. I cannot find any blueprints or instructions for milling the slide for them though. What is the radius on the corners for them? Does anyone have the plans or instructions for milling? Once I had one I could spend forever figuring it out but I'd love to save some time on mill setup and programming and just get it done!
  13. Figured out the website, it was a format issue with phone screen size. From the looks of inventory on site, they are the "same" barrels. In reference to previous comment. I havent used them since before the change in ownership so that's really all I got on that Haha.
  14. Maybe it's a phone screen size issue for website. I'll check it from computer later. Thanks much
  15. Howdy folks, I know they changed owners and such but when searching I come up with several different websites. One of them is fishy and not secure and the other doesnt come up with anything on the pages when going to shop page. The facebook is also weird with a bunch of reposts from long ago. Just wondering if that is correct or some scam going on with their name? I want to start ordering them for my guns I'm building but dont want to get scammed either. Anyone got a line on the right answer? Thanks Jason
  16. I will say as a 2011 manufacturer and user myself, grip strength can and will play into functionality of a custom race gun. It doesnt just apply to 1911 and 2011s either. Personal experience has taught me this over the last few months especially. I never have gun issues with my guns unless its ammo related pretty much, but since I started shooting again a few weeks ago after a major support arm injury, I have been having periodic malfunctions with failure to feed due to limp wrist. I have a hard time gripping the gun still with support hand and after decades of shooting proper grip I sometimes forget I am monkey gripping with strong hand right now to make up for that. These guns are race cars and finely tuned with ammo, springs etc. If you fail to do your part and grip the gun proper each time, then you are changing the characteristics of what it was tuned for.
  17. Laurel Mt works great on most applications I'd say. I had to try something new with a couple older shotguns that I needed to rust blue because of the metallurgy of the guns. They just wouldn't rust blue at all. I found that dicropan IM worked wonders on steel with high chrome or other alloys in it.
  18. I was hoping being next to Idaho there would be a lot more going in there! Be interested to see if anyone else knows. Thanks
  19. Hey all, I lived and competed on western washington for a decade'ish. Moved to Louisiana couple years back and am now deciding on where I'm going to plop down for retirement. The shooting sports, especially 3gun, play a big role in where I want to plop down at. I really wanted to locate to Prescott, AZ area but the housing market there is absurd. After leaving Washington I vowed never to return because of the state of politics and anti-2a sentiment there. Well it's sort of back on the table as an option. Spokane area atleast. Is there a big scene over there still with more than a single match to shoot a month for uspsa and 3gun? I know in western Washington there was always something to do on any given weekend. I just dont want to end up like I am right now driving 3 hours each way for matches on the weekends because surprisingly there isnt a big scene here. I guess people just cant afford to play where I live lol. Thanks Jason
  20. Been lurking the forums for years but never had an account. Set that up while back and thought I had posted here. Guess I didnt. Live in Central Louisiana now but will likely relocate in the next couple years. Shoot a lot of uspsa and 3gun.
