    No problem with steel. None.

Until he switched to the JP5 roller delay… Max Leograndis shot 115’s in his direct blowbacks. Several other super squad shooters do too. I much prefer the way the 115’s shoot.

I think lots of folks use 124’s since they can also use for handgun loads… so it’s a more versatile weight. Works fine in both platforms. But if I’m loading PCC specific ammo… I like them light and a little hot (136-138PF is my preference for dot movement/return).

I wouldn’t get your hopes up with JHP. Most PCCs don’t do well with them.

do You know what Gr Max shoots now? You said up until he switched to Jp5, I assume 124?

I think it was to you since you changed your hand guard.

I didn’t remove the barrel so it didn’t have to be timed for head-spacing. Simply remove the Handguard and then the barrel nut then re-install new. Super easy.

Bought a PSA GEN4 8" 9MM 1/10 GX M-LOK MOE EPT SHOCKWAVE PISTOL without realizing the importance of having the bolt hold open feature. Trying to use the carbine for competition and it’s very cumbersome without this feature. My question is, is there a way to get that one part and install it or do I need an entire receiver. If I need a receiver how do I know which is compatible? Mine uses glock magazines

Bolt hold open is virtually useless in every aspect, especially competition lol. Buy 40rd or greater mags.

Taylorfreelance and MBX mag extensions that get to 55-60rds.

I have a JP5 SC and was reading some posts on being finicky with ammo and needing to undersize.  I have not found that to be the case at all.  My JP5 is chewing up RN and FP's and I have not had a single malfunction in approximately 1,000 rounds.   For lighter loads I did switch to a 70 degree locker and it shoots 130PF loads like a 22!!!

I have tried loads from 90gr HPs, 100gr RN, 105gr FP, 115gr RN, 135gr RN and zero issues myself.,

How did you maintain correct barrel clocking on the JP-5? There is no index on the barrel.  I removed the JP hand guard. Which had a jamb nut to set barrel timing . I torqued barrel nut to 60 lbs . Barrel rotated out of clocking . Are shims available?

    Who is this directed to?

I truly do not understand the negative attitudes associated with the "coke bottle" shape.

There are no functional negatives and it is actually a good thing as it opposes bullet setback.

If it were truly needed and warranted, all Dies would do it, including factory loaded ammo. Its not needed at all and causes worse SDs.

The biggest thing I liked about this die was the De-capping part of it. I was running dillon dies in my 1050 and a mixed lot of 9mm brass. A couple of brands of brass would constantly have pull backs on the primer.  The de-capping system on these dies are working a lot better. I loaded @500 rds the other night and never had a pull back.
lubing is an extra step, but it definitely makes the press run smoother. The bottle shape that I had before isn’t there anymore, but that was mainly a cosmetic issue.

I will agree, their decapping system is better than any other die Ive tried, from Lee, Dillon, Lyman, even Redding. I do wish their made their die with a little tighter neck tension myself though.

It looks like the SC (steel challenge) version has the original Titanium Comp that ports to the sides of the barrel, and is built with JPs lighter M-Lok handguard and lighter buttstock to save weight.  I assume they went with this comp because in SC can use lower PF ammo that does not expel much excess gas to make use of the vertical comp.

The Competition version has a competition comp which is a vertical comp, which might be able to use the gas more efficiently to help with muzzle rise due to the minimum PF of 125.  It comes with the MK III hand guard and a heavier buttstock.  It a bit heavier than the SC version.

With all of that said, it looks like many are opting for the SC version for USPSA.  I did and have seen others do the same.  For me it was the weight, and honestly I hate the MK III handguard.

For me, I opted for the first model I could get lol. I actually like the MK3 HG, but it was too heavy for me. This is why I switched out the HG to a Smoke Composites. I also switched out the buffer tube just to match the Smoke HG. I hated the Hogue stock/grip so I changed those as well. Right now my JP5 is lighter than the SC Model.

Can someone explain what these dies do that a regular set of steel dies would not do?

For example, Redding 9mm steel dies are full length, and are SAMMI spec, and require lubing.   Steel dies should give you best possible sizing due to how they're made (full size without a carbide ring).    I'm trying to understand what these dies do that my Redding titanium carbide sizer does not do?  I don't get the coke bottle effect using them and I don't have any issues with rounds not going into the case gauge.    I'm using a rollsizer, so that would certainly help.

since you’re using a roll sizer, nothing at all.

Awww okay. Makes sense. I am waiting for the custom ordering options. I think they are starting them soon.

Also, I see a lot of guys running the Titanium/Steel Challenge Comp vs the Vertical Comp for USPSA?

    Any thoughts?

to my knowledge the only differences are the comp and Handguard, which results in a slightly lighter rifle.

I was told by JP you cannot change the shoe that comes with the trigger. You have to get the trigger that allows the shoe changing. Is that true? If so, did you completely swap the trigger?

I bought their drop in flat trigger. Removed their hammer and shoe as I hate curved triggers. I wish I could use the Hiperfire ECL but it won’t work due to the JP5 ejector.

I bought a Hiperfire PDI-GS and it’s good but not as good as the ECL as the reset is longer on the PDI. Also longer reset than the JP trigger but lighter in weight.

That looks absolutely sick!! whats the trigger in it?

is that the 12" pcc handguard from smoke? or did you custom order the 13.5

Thx! It’s the JP Flat trigger with lighter springs. The Hg is the Smoke Composites PCC HG but at 13.5”. A custom length which I asked them to build. They will make a custom length if you email them.

I also added the 70° block and it recoils even softer now. It’s just dumb, after the PCC and all upgrades, including optic costs, I spent way too much.

  12. I Iove the JP5 and it’s round MK3 handguard but, coming from a Brekke, it was too front end heavy for me.

I switched out the Handguard (13.5”) and buffer tube for Smoke Composites and switched the stock to an MFT. This shaved off 18.5oz.

Others will hate it, but I like it.

    My JP5 loads

    115 PD JHP @ 133 PF 4.6 WSF @ 1.12 OAL

    124 PD JHP @ 130 PF 4.4 WSF @ 1.12 OAL

    147 PD JHP @ 129 PF 3.74 WSF @ 1.12 OAL

I am going the try some CFE pistol loads next.

I am using the 60* break.

The 115 is my favorite load. I tried double taps at 15yds for each load. Paper doesn’t lie😊. The 147’s were softest but the 115’s were the closest groups with .17 splits.

By the way, the GMR was exactly 5 PF more than the JP5 for the same load. My GMR is a 14.5” barrel with a pin and welded comp and JP short stroke installed. Also, my friends GMR is a 16” then comp is slower than my 14.5”.

I think you will find a slower powder like WSF feels softer than a fast powder. I have tried N320, W231 and Titgrope. Caution should be used with fast powders and heavy bullets. Squibs are possible.

I didn’t notice much difference from a slower to faster powder myself. But I did notice a difference form lighter to heavier bullets.

I noticed my 12.5” Brekke PCC is about 4-5pf higher with the same load data too.
