Color is too light. That would be distracting

Its not bad, although I prefer pasters.  In central Texas the air is on fire 9 months out of the year, so that is the least of our problems. 😅

I'm really thinking the window of transmission is small through my own experience. Two relatives got it, both from work and both while required to wear masks. For the latest case, we had a family dinner with on a Friday after they were presumably exposed at work the day before and none of us got it. They then went to another dinner Saturday night where nearly everyone got it and then on Tuesday found out about the coworker testing positive so they went into quarantine and both ended up testing positive when the results came in on the following Thursday which pretty much coincided with the symptoms. The only symptoms were a loss of smell and taste.

Edited per mod comment above. Apologies as I don't know how to delete.

  3. Just an operational note.  If shooting ESP you might inform the So the first time you are shooting. While legal, it is unusual and the SO may think something is wrong or might annoy you that you forgot to load your mags to 10.

Just listening to people who sell and make ammo for a living I would project no increase in availability of primers until 2022. Plan on shooting all of 2021 with what you have on hand.

Long term? This will be a blip 10 years from now.

Are they forecasting increased manufactured ammunition before then?

Directly to the topic, already seeing matches running light on people. One location that tends to run shot heavy steel matches has set up the option to only shoot half the match stages. This is despite some clubs still being shut or limited due to Da Vid.

agreed! i remember a time when it was mildly tricky to get an SP01 down to ssp legal weight. I don't think there is anything wrong with IDPA's gun rules or holster rules to be honest. I'd just leave them as is. Crazy I know.

Can definitely agree on that. It seems to work in that at local competitions there are still many Glock/M&P types present.

I read that as meaning a firearm in service by Military or Leo and more then 2k units. You know, "Service Pistol". His mention of official capacity is what made me think that.

In which case are there more then 2k Shadow 2's in "service"? Or Glock 34's for that matter.

Many departments have Glock 34s on their permitted firearms lists. CZs might be more of an issue.

On the flipside our department pistols have flashlights. 😉

To be clear, I am not a proponent of any change.  Just because one division is more popular than another division, does not mean that division has to change. PCC and revolvers are examples.

Ssp stands for stock service pistol. Just for fun let's say ssp guns can only be ones issued to entities greater than 2k issued guns.

Is the gun used in an official capacity and by more than 2k people? You're in. Hahaha

So basically removing the weight limit and relying on the production numbers requirement.  I could understand that actually.

I’m an “M” in USPSA.  I can do sub-second concealed carry draws to center mass.

But I prefer reloading from an open magazine pouch and not having to separately sweep a T-shirt for that.

I don’t even carry a reload normally so not interested in learning a new skill that’s not applicable to anything (fishing vests).

Currently I use a modified concealed draw when I have to reload in the future. It entails tucking the shirt behind the magazine on the draw so it’s exposed. But that kind of draw will NEVER be used in a civilian gunfight.

You’re grumpy and judgmental. I’m fine with concealed draws like the way I normally carry. But for these types of games I have to do something other than what I normally do, which is tuck the shirt.

So yes, I’m looking to game it so I can use my standard concealed draw and not have to fumble with the magazine.

I would imagine  a break away garment of some sort - assuming if safe - would still cost you valuable time.  I could be wrong.

If you do that, you need to tell the SO first so he doesn't stop the stage thinking there has been a serious problem.

I've had my buckmark for 20 years or so and have shot probably 50k plus rounds through it. This past year I started having a ton of failure to feeds and pulled it apart, cleaned it, polished parts and still nothing. I would get in 3 mags worth and then the malfunctions started. Replaced all the mag springs and even picked up some new mags and still nothing.

Eventually I realized the top was coming loose ever so slightly but enough to cause issues so I replaced the star washers and used a little blue locktite and it's been golden ever since. Took it out for a fundraiser steel shoot and it went 800 rounds without issue.

Yes the mistake I made was initially taking those off to clean everything thoroughly. We acquired those after the NEO and I was used to dissembling everything and there was a videoing doing that at the time.

    Probably make target stands?

I imagine so.  We have a fully fenced back yard and now that the wiener dog is so old he doesn't go off the patio, there is available space, and wife is ok with the idea - promises not to laugh.

  11. Well thats a bummer. Of course most things firearm related are out of stock.

Not a competition level .22 shooter, so full disclosure, but I have Buckmarks, Rugers, Beretta Neo and a Victory (we shoot them until they break...)

Wife and I liked the Buckmark. It has a different grip angle than the Ruger Target. Takedown is MUCH easier but found the allenscrews would need retightening every 50 rounds or so and you can't super tighten the screws because the top plate cracks. Both Brownings and Rugers are good .22s. I think it really comes down to which feels better in your hand, now that there is the model IV type.

(note my favorite was the NEO actually-space gun!)

Remember to get one already compatible with COs as that is your intent.

And if you have 7 to 10 yards you can dry fire on a full size target! Not the dinky reduced ones we all use indoors.

My apologies for the stupid question, but how do you dry fire outside in a yard situation? Are you nailing them to the fence or how do you set that up? Old fart minds want to know...

That was my first thought and I still might. I just didn't like the hassle in cleaning and not sure I wanted to spend more money on it. Still an option though.

Any input on the Browning Buckmark anyone?

This might be helpful. It basically puts a screw in allowing you to remove the bolt assembly with an Allen wrench, without  all the weird hassle. I don't know how good it is.

    From Guns and Ammo:

Though there are dozens of major and minor ammunition manufacturers in the U.S., only four domestic manufacturers produce primers: Federal, CCI, Remington and Winchester. Those four firms feed the entire primer supply including ammunition sold to the military and law enforcement. Millions upon millions of primers are produced every year by these companies.

So its Vista and Olin Corp? Mmm...

  15. 13 hours ago, pskys2 said:

So one Corporation now "owns" CCI, Speer, Remington, Federal...?  That kind of monopoly scares the bejesus out of me.  Especially with all of the "Woke Capitalism" infecting huge Corporations.

I can see a future where components, or even ammunition, aren't released to the "public" for our own good!

Forgive my ignorance, but what other US manufacture of ammunition is there at this point (all parts of as in Federal for example).

  16. Agreed CF, its just a convenience thing for me. I'm just a lazy cuss.

Inversely I went for years just wearing the same IDPA gear with some additional mags.  I shoot Production / SSP so there's no real difference (at least before they agreed you could shoot a pistol in production weighing ~ 90 lbs if desired.
