  1. Listen to Raylon, take the bolt catch out !

I have the Taccom3 buffer kit with the short stroke . As soon as I felt the pressure on the bolt with this set up, I took the bolt catch out! If I had the bolt catch in, I could lock the bolt back, but I would be afraid it would knock the barrel off if I let it slam home.

When you feel that much pressure against the bolt, instincts should tell you not to lock it back and let it go.

I completely disagree with your gunsmith. With the bolt under that much pressure and inertia, I could absolutely see the firing pin slamming forward and igniting a primer. Maybe not every time, but once is all it takes.

    Update for you all.

I took tue gun in to my shop and had the gunsmith test the whole thing down and look at it all.  Everything looks perfect. I explained what happened and here is his expert knowledge and opinion.  The buffer kit was so strong and had so much force that when I let the bolt go into battery it was so strong and engaged so fast that the firing pin also slammed forward and caused the discharge. He explained that it is impossible unless the trigger broke, which it is not, for the hammer to engage and release when the gun is on “safe”. His advice which I took and did. Return the buffer kit and go with the JP short stroke system.  MBX was awesome and took it back with no question. I sent it back yesterday.  I will let you know the result when I get the new JP kit. I have the owner of my gun store doing me a solid and calling JP to have one custom made for my gun and it’s tolerances.

  2. I just bought a C More railway this week and put it on my gun yesterday. Match tomorrow, all went well with sighting in, we will see what happens. I do know you have to watch the lock screws on reflex sights, sometimes they move the dot a bit when you tighten them. I have not found that to be true with mine.

I was debating between a Holosun 510C and the C More. End of the day, the C More is lighter, stupid bright and have  been mounted on open guns since the decade of the 80's. These sights have 30 plus years of great history. You may have a rare bad one, the warranty is a good one.

If all you are changing is weight, 3.9gr should get you a nearly identical power factor as your 4.2/115 load.

My thoughts exactly, 9or 10gr in bullet weight shouldn't change much.

Thanks for the heads up on PP powder, I really like it!

I have a match today, going to try the 115gr load with Power Pistol.

You aren't going to find pressure issues with Power Pistol unless you go looking for it.  I have loaded 8.8gr under a 115gr JHP for 9major and barely saw anything on the primers.  That load was a completely full case.   I have had far more problems with HS6 and WAC.  I have blown primers using common 9major load levels with both of those powders.

I bet your 4.0gr load is a little on the weak side, around 1040fps, which would be fine for steel if reliable.   Using simple math a 4.3-4.4gr load with a 115 will make about 126.5 to 131.5 PF.  If you get some bad extreme spreads, try seating your bullet deeper to reduce combustion irregularities.

My next bullet will b a 124 or 125 gr RN. Do you have any Power Pistol data? Default will be same as 115gr.

Two brand new hss endmills just made a squeeking sound when they came into contact with the bolt. I lucked out and found a carbide endmill of the right size and a flat bottom

Most likely the bcg is made out of 8620 and it is definitely case hardened! Were it not you would have a real mess inside of your upper!

I shot my first match with the side charger today. I really like it. I didn't have to touch that awkward charging handle once!

Things that i learned over the weekend. No matter how tight you put the side charging handle on, it still needs locktight, and the release button on the bolt stop has to go. I think that I will try a bad lever.

Anyone know why I  don't have any mb's left for posting pictures? It says that max file size is 0.49mb.

Also, I  took 8th place in a 5 stage match today, and I was the oldest guy (50) on my squad!

Nice shooting, a few things for you.

I also took eighth in a 6 stage match yesterday, first in PCC. First time out with the Taccom3 short stroke kit , and I had a slight mag problem on my first stage along with running past one target on said stage. I was very happy and one year older than you. The short stroke kit did its job !!!

You may be walking me toward the side charger as a tweak to my gun this winter. When I had the mag problem, grabbing the charge handle to clear was no problem at all, we will see.

When I saw yours, my thought was to put the handle ( and you did it 100% correct, use a cap screw not a threaded handle) somewhere on the bcg where I could counter bore it slip fit in about .125 to .1875 deep if possible? May give a bit more rigidity, most likely you would have to tighten it quite often.

Lastly, I found an app for my phone called send reduced free. I had the same problem you did with not being able to post pics here because they are too big in file size. This deal shrinks them down so you can post. No clue how it works, but the pic quality seems to be fine.

    Again, nice shooting!

I had almost the exact same load, if I'm recalling correctly, and I constantly had issues. I even had some issues with some factory loaded 115gr. Maybe they have altered their chambers to extend the free bore, I bought mine in early 2018. The issue I was having was the bullets getting to the rifling while still in the chamber - it never caused problems when firing, but clearing the last round at the end of a stage was always troublesome, and I began to feel a bit uneasy about popping off rounds that were already into the rifling, so I made the switch. I hope they have addressed the issue.

    Maybe I got lucky?

I have switched( at least for this lot of 4000 bullets) to a 115gr RN seated at 1.120oal. I think the next buy will be 124gr RN. The oal will stay the same.

At TACCOM, we actually have a spring cushion on both ends of the buffer, the short stroke kit really enhances the front end for rebound, but also splits the total weight of bolt/buffer upon recoil. Also, the short stroke kit pretty much shortens the stroke required to cock the trigger......it is the bare minimum. The part that replaces the steel plunger is made of delrin, so while it is 'plastic' it it pretty much an engineered polymer. As for comparing it to the blitzkrieg? As good or better now basically, just as smooth (but it is oh so personal), less cost as this all fits in a standard carbine buffer tube, and being pretty much 100% mechanical and the fact that we engineered the spring travel (won't wear out).....our system is not going to break in a match.

I am assuming you were referring to my post a few up from here , many of the references are exactly the same.

I was talking up( not down) the Taccom3 buffer, and the short stroke kit.

Thanks for putting out a great product !

Have you tried putting that wave spring spacer in front of a standard buffer and spring. I wonder how that would turn out.

I have not. I have gotten a few suggestions on here about what to do. I figured I would start out doing it their way, and if I didn't like it, I could adjust from there.

I have a match Sunday and I will try to shoot a little Saturday. I have maybe 50rds since I put the short stroke kit in. I really like it, but Sunday will tell.

I have also seen on here that wave springs come in different weights and are pretty cheap. It wouldn't be too big a deal to try it out.

So the short stroke kit kind of enchantes the 3 stage buffer system even more?

It does. It replaces the front( bolt side) steel plunger with a longer delrin plunger that has a wave spring on it. It doesn't shorten the stroke up a whole lot, but it must be enough, going by the felt recoil and dot/muzzle bounce. You just take the existing one out and put the new one in. The plunger and spring are plastic so it is MUCH softer against the bolt than the steel one was.

The first thing I noticed when I shot it was the sound. It was much quieter than the steel plunger hitting the steel bcg, makes sense.

You basically have two plungers with a very stiff spring between them. The front plunger is plastic and there is a plastic plug on the back end of the big spring. I don't see how you could do much more to soften the movement of the bcg and the buffer? ( someone who uses a Blitzkrieg will say a hydraulic one)

I also took the weight block out of my bcg, it is softer than with it in, and everything functions just fine !

I believe that I've read somewhere that Faxon actually makes the KVP barrels, so you will have some of the same issues on hand loads that are loaded a bit longer. For just a bit more, you can go with a JP and not have to worry about that issue.

I have a KVP barrel and I have some 147gr loads loaded to 1.150ish, no probbo.

Here is the bolt handle. I left both ends long for final fitting. It weighs 1.2oz with the allen bolt in it.

I'll cut the upper reciver tomorrow.

That is EXACTLY what I was going to do. Make a handle drilled and c-bored for a SHCS and drill and tap the BCG. Cut a slot in the upper and you are off to the races!

I still might, but as I get into this more I don't see a big problem with the standard charge handle. I can see if you have to clear a jam, the side charge would probably be faster, but without that you load at the start and unload at the end.

Besides, I am just getting the hang of flagging the gun without being able to lock the bolt back. With a side charge I would probably have to sit on the ground!

Nice work by the way !

I have the same problem with one of my PSA PCC's.  It's the forged version of their lower.  I was at my wits end trying to figure it out.  It only happens with 33 round glock mags or 33 round glock mags with Taylor Freelance Extensions. ETS mags or 17 round glock mags load fine.  In the end, I switched to ETS mags and the problem went away. I now use ETS mags wtih MBX mini extensions.  I got tired of trying to figure it out.  Give ETS mags a try, I bet the problem will go away.

Deja Vu !  I also use ETS mags with MBX mini bases, work great!

I have a Joe Bob lower and I am done with Glock mags. The 21rd Magpul work fine also.
