Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I got word from JP that my rifle should be ready in about 3 weeks...just waiting on a bolt carrier. Total build time will be about 6.5 months.
  2. Anybody recieved their rifle lately? I ordered mine before Christmas at which time delivery was estimated at 12-16 weeks (I'm at 25 weeks now). Dying to get this thing and start shooting!
  3. Wow, 2008 match already. I'm impressed. Have fun with it Aaron. I wish I was going to be there, but my "match" starts on Sunday. All is well. Jim
  4. Sad story here...I just moved from Ft Benning and I'm "vacationing" at my parent's in TX. I transported my safe and guns with me (don't want the government to move them). The save was on its back covered with a tarp. The guns were inside in soft cases wrapped in blankets, etc. I went through a BUNCH of rain on the drive and needless to say, the safe is not waterproof. I figured as much, hence the tarp, but a lot more water made it into my safe than I ever thought. Several guns started to rust. My IonBonded guns on the otherhand, were perfect. No rust at all. I guess once I get back from Iraq, I'll be using some of the money I saved and get all my guns coated. Ryan, I'll be sending a big order in about a year! Jim
  5. Third time was the charm! Great stages, great match, great support from the industry and SCORES. I cannot say enough about SFC Hampton, SSG Michel, SSG Johnson, SGT Tomasie, SPCs Eusebio, Horner, and Dmac and everyone in the AMU. Some of the finest NCOs and Soldiers I have ever worked with. It finally hit me today that I'm leaving the AMU, but what a way to go out! A superb match, great people and a phenomenal prize table! I cannot begin to thank the Action Shooting Team for their hard work, dedication and commitment to making this match what it has become (and also putting up with my crap for the last 2 1/2 years). I only wish I could have shot with them more! SFC Hampton is an example for all others to follow...Not only as Soldier in our Army, but as a leader and a friend. It has been a pleasure and an honor for me to have served with him and the team (ok, I screwed you on the trolling motor!). I can't think of a better way to leave the best unit in the Army than witnessing a match of this quality. I will follow your successes while I'm in the sandbox, but look forward to getting out to the matches when I get back. I better have a reservation for the 2009 FB3G!! Jim Barrows
  6. I spent part of yesterday at the range and the Action Team is well on their way to putting on another 1st Class match. Stage construction is coming along nicely and I think everyone will be impressed (still need to construct the pond and FIND the water) . SFC Hampton and his team are once again putting in a lot of work to make this match a success. No doubt, everyone will be challenged with the shooting and will get to experience a few "Army toys" along the way.
  7. Well, I just got 2 more guns back from IonBond today. My open gun and a single stack. The single stack frame was done in the new Flat Dark Earth. I was originally concerned that I'd have too much brown with the grips I bought from Mil Tac, but I think it looks awesome! The color of the grips matches the FDE perfectly. I'll be at the range tomorrow burning up some ammo. Thanks again to Ryan for doing great work! You and Darrell are awesome.
  8. Ryan, is the flat dark earth color available yet? Last I heard, you were still tweaking it. Jim
  9. Is that an Extreme or C&S hammer and was it IonBonded? If so, how did it affect the trigger feel? It is a C&S hammer. The hammer, sear (EGW) and disconnector were all IonBonded (the only things I didn't coat were springs, firing pin, and trigger). I did all the prep before coating and cannot notice any difference in the feel and the pull weight is the same. My understanding is that the trigger job will last much longer as well.
  10. Well, I just got my gun back from IonBond on Saturday. It was my first attempt at building my own and needless to say, Ryan and the guys at IonBond did a first rate job at making my project look great! I've already put 3000 rounds through it and there is zero visible wear on the rails or the barrel. I polished the flats of the slide and bead blasted the rest. All internal components were coated as well. I fully plan on sending them more business. Thanks for the great work Ryan.
  11. Ok, here they are. Final results (I think). I hope I've got everthing fixed. Should be the last posting of results.....until next year. Finals_Combined.txt Limited_Stages.txt Open_Stages.txt
  12. Sorry Glen, I'll fix it right now. I'll wait until tomorrow afternoon to publish the updated results as there will likely be a few more changes..... Jim
  13. ......................UPDATED RESULTS........................ These results have all corrections that have been submitted so far. If you still see any discrepancies, please let me know. If there are no more changes, they will become FINAL RESULTS tomorrow afternoon. If there are changes, we will repost again tomorrow. Stages_Limited.txt Stages_Open.txt Ft_Benning_Finals_Combined.txt
  14. Interim results are posted in the "Pictures and Results" thread....
  15. Sorry for the delay, but here are the interim results...I need to get 6 more scores from stage 8 when I get back to the office tomorrow. SFC Hampton will post the stage results as well when I give him the files. Thanks for the patients. Hopefully this works!! Jim BarrowsPistol_Finals__Open.txtPistol_Finals__Limited.txt
