I grab just below the belt for a 20 or 12 rounders. I have the clip located on the mag about 1/3 from bottom so at least I have over half of mag below bottom of hand when inserting. Not a big deal on the 12 but on the 20's it helps with balance.

Exactly this. I simply reach slightly lower when I grab my 20.

I haven't had an issue with clips so far. I put a cross draw holster in the front for occasional unloaded starts.

  2. Is anyone using JP's ultralight shrouded barrel in USPSA? I've heard many people use it for Steel Challenge and maybe it's more applicable for that game.

I have a side charging upper on my GMR-15, but I have been thinking about going lighter. Does anyone think the shrouded Barrel would be a good choice for USPSA?

wow.... My guess is they will sell zero of these....3000.00 before you put an optic on it and there another 350$ worth of upgrades you could do........ no way........I could buy two JP's for the price of one of these and its not an american gun... gonna be a hard pass on this.

Totally agree that you can find cheaper options. Eveyone has their preferences and individual price points though. My GMR has almost every bell and whistle JP offers and it came out to $2,880 and then I added the same stock Dissident uses here to bring it to $3,105.

Do you need something that expensive...of course not. You can beat me all day long with a cheaper pieced together PCC without breaking a sweat. I just really like tricked out guns from high end builders that know what they're doing.

Also, the KR-9 is an American manufactured rifle by Kalashnikov USA in Pompano Beach, FL.

I cannot see it being better then a JP... Is anyone else building PCC off of an AK platform?  That gun looks cool, but I don't personally care how cool it is...its just a hammer haha.  If someone on here grabs one post a video if you can of it running.

There are a handful of AK platforms in 9mm. As far as tuning one up specifically for competition Dissident is the only crew I'm aware of.

Doesn't the Hiperswitch have plastic switches? Does that bother anyone?

It doesn't bother me at all. In 3 gun where I have to flip the safety on and off on the clock in sometimes awkward positions the selector matters more to me.

In PCC I have my thumb resting on the selector and I don't have to thumb the safety on while the timer is running. It just doesn't seem as important for USPSA.

I have shot this gun at a match with Lan.......for a AK platform PCC....it is sweet. It shoots VERY nice.Trigger is awesome aswell.Only downside I see, are the mags are proprietary.

Do you remember if it felt heavy when compared to other PCCs?

I shot like 4 or 5 iterations of things that night. All I was really focusing on what A. did my ammo work in all the guns and B. which buffer system felt the best.

Thanks for the mag release video.

The poundage of the trigger is fine at 3.5 on my scale, but it is a hard break and a soft reset. I like the opposite of that. Thus the looking at other triggers.

This is exactly why I'm shopping triggers too. I'm spoiled with my Timney Calin Elite in my 3 gun rifle. The reset on the JP drop-in in my GMR is too weak for me. I'd love to know what you land on.

get a holster with a lock- especially if you are going to compete in 3 gun- safariland 014 or ghost, etc. there are other locking type holsters for an open gun.

The DAA Alpha X does have a lock which was disengaged by the sling. If you go with a slide ride dot then you can use a hooded holster which seems to be the way to go.
