The SP01 retains the firing pin with a roll pin about 1/2 way down the channel.

Yes and if you replace it with the Cajun roll pin AND install it correctly the problem goes away.  YMMV

  2. Never had a firing pin break and I don't remember any competition shooter on my squad shooting a CZ having one break.  It could have happened.  I use a Cajun extended firing pin and roll pin installed with the "groove" in the pin in the 12 o'clock position.  Once in a while I remember to install a snap cap for dry firing but mostly I don't, I think you just got unlucky.

As HT suggested could it be a broken retaining pin?

If it is broken and you used the Cajun pin..."Life Time Warranty only when used with CGW 61100 firing pin retaining pin."  from Cajun website for 61050 EFP.

  3. For action shooting most (but not all) prefer a thinner front sight the reason given is faster sighting of "good enough" sight picture.  YMMV

Try it and see if it works for you.  I just changed my front sight on my S2O to a thinner sight but have not had a chance to shoot it in competition.

  4. Most semi-auto pistols like .356 coated or plated but you need to try different sizes in your firearms.  These are much softer than jacketed.

Most will want .355 in jacketed.  YMMV

Some bullet manufacturers offer sample packages so you can try different configurations before committing to a large order.

Rather than shooting classifiers i would set up stages for dry firing where you have to challenge your transitions, reloading, and moving around barricades. That changed the way I set up my magazines on my belt. For the holster, I never went wrong with the rules set for production and SS (behind the hip bone)

FYI...Behind the hip bone requirement has been removed from USPSA.

ANy final thoughts on the A01 vs. TSO debate? I've read that the A01 is not as reliable...how is the recoil impulse and accuracy feel between the two?

Just got my A-01 and for the first 200 rounds I have had 1 FTE in about the first 20 rounds.  Installed a 13# main spring and no problem with fiocchi factory ammo.  Next going to try a 8.5# hammer spring with ext. FP.  I really like it SO FAR...YMMV

  7. A-01 is made by CZ Custom, it shares some parts with the CZ 75 series but has several differences.  The most notable is the sear cage is not removable.  Search around and you will find some comparisons online.
