  1. Yeah I ran some of the more promising loads at .357 diameter and just was not liking the recoil impulse of the heavy stuff. Going back to my tried and true 120-124 lead coated flat point at about 1050 fps. Shoots great groups and recoils nicely. Looks like an order for 3000 Acmes is needed.

  2. Ammo flies too fast through the machines for them to catch the few bad ones. We sent back a pallet of winchester ranger .40 LE ammo cause of a few flip primers, dented shells, and luckily a squib durring qualification and not on duty. Through the 17 years on my dept we have used federal hydrashock, rem golden saber, winchester ranger. They all have bad cases get through. Winchester took the ammo back and is sending us FBI contract ammo as they claim it has higher quality control. We will see.

  3. Supposedly these will be calibrated for 9mm so we will see. Watched a fee videos of previous matches and they used alot of smaller plates. Just wanting to make sure a bad shot on the larger rifle plate style doesn't slow me down too much. May bump the PF up to 135 and leave the sizing at .357 in hopes of better groups. My p09 with 124/125 range is a 1" grouper at 20 yards. May stick with what works.

  4. So tested some Summers coated LRN trying for a nice light recoiling load for some falling plate steel matches.  Used 160 RN, 145 RN, and 135 RN that started as .357 sized down to .356 with a Lee Bullet sizing die.  Groups were not great as I had a 20-30 mph wind but the temp was better for a mid February day at 55* so had to get out and get some numbers.  All of these shot out of my CZ P09 with RMR.  Was shooting for 130 PF.  All hand weighed charges with federal brass and winchester primers. 5 shot strings shot at 20 yards off a bench rest. I have used WSF but have seen its temp sensitivity and I shoot matches all year so don't want to have to change the load for different seasons. Did have a couple of tumbling 145s so may just leave these as .357 and try some again. Some of these were from other people's loads and some are for a baseline as I didn't have much to go on. Any help would be appreciated

  5. Was going to do the sparta 300 falling plate match and want to know where to find rules for the divisions so I can figure out what gun I want to shoot. I don't have facebook, as it is the devil, so if there is an organization that handles the falling plate style matches that has a rule book that would be great.

Nevermind. I found a tactical sh!t review of the match that had a download of the rules.

Download the tips on powder measure improvements. If you polish up the insides and moving parts it will run smoother. I unhooked the powder safety that causes the "clunk" when lowering the shell plate, just unhook the top part of the spring that connects to the pin sticking out. Powder par safety will fall out of way and not catch anymore. I did put 2 of the wife's elastic hair ties between the hopper and rear of bar to close the bar. Much smoother powder drops. I can get very consistant drops with my dillon. I would say .1 gr variance. No need for vibrators, fish pumps, voodoo hexes, or holy water.

  7. Check the wire spring that retains the shell in place so that it is not pushing too much on the brass. It can push it off alignment and cause the primer to hang up or go in crooked. Make sure everything is clean on and around the priming bar. Your screws on the bottom that hold the priming station upright may have come loose. Undo the return spring and make sure the primer pocket is lined up with the shell plate tray hole. Tighten the priming station down, then put the return spring back on. Sometimes small shavings of brass get in the primer cup. Push the handle forward and make sure your primer seater is coming up high enough and has no gunk in there.

  8. I have been having good luck with win 244. Meters well, has good single digit numbers even when loaded below starting weights, accurate with several bullet weights. WSF and sport pistol are also good to go. Have seen the temp sensitivity of the WSF with my 160 gr RN. Loaded 3.2 in the summer and was getting around 850. Was going to use them in winter and the brass was showing pressure signs so backed it down to 3 grs and that helped. Shot my chrono so waiting to get another one.
