  1. What I don't quite understand is how such vast differences there can be between 2 different guns of the same model? Are these Tanfo's not CNC'ed on the exact same machines? If so, how in the world can the tolerances and such be so different? Anyone have any insight on this?
  2. So all of the PD springs would work on a Witness Carry polymer Tanfo? What about the PD firing pins? I am still thinking of picking one up, but want to be sure I can work on it before I do.
  3. As I am still interested in a polymer framed Tanfo, does anyone have any experience with disassmbly on these? I am sure that Ary has took these down before and done some work. After looking at one in person, the trigger pin, hammer pin, are noticably absent. Looks to be much different than the steel frame Tanfo's. Ary, or anyone else with experience with these, what is the procedure on taking these down for polishing, changing springs etc.? Trying to get a better understanding on this before I actually pick one of these up. Pictures would be great if anyone has any of a poly framed Tanfo taken down. Brad
  4. I would think the spring that comes with the Xtreme plunger is the same as a stock plunger. I could be wrong but that is what I would think.
  5. Ary, I am running the bolo in the Xtreme. Man, not what I wanted to hear on the Poly Tanfo, I assume it is a totally different animal to work on than the steel Tanfo's?
  6. I hit all the pins pretty good, the holes didnt get any love. The zipper feel is all but gone after polishing the plunger rod and head. I am pretty happy with the numbers that I have, and like Memphis says, after some rounds down range they will probably drop a bit more. I am not chasing the lowest numbers, just want smooth and crisp, with relative lightness. Feels like it is where I want it at the moment though. Making me want to find that polymer Tanfo carry piece now, so I can tinker on that haha!
  7. I have several PD 14# hammer springs in my box if I need to switch out after testing my rounds. We will see...
  8. Memphis, I have the PD 13# hammer spring installed.
  9. Parts came in today, fully PD optimized S2 Xtreme. Here are the initial numbers, feels great! DA SA
  10. So do you think these Xtreme springs could have perhaps gotten mixed up somehow and the hammer spring overpowered the firing pin spring causing it to jam? I would think that since this is Tanfo's Xtreme model, the springs would have been more than squared away, but perhaps not. This is the exact reason I am going with all PD springs in my Tanfo's. You know exactly what is where.
  11. Looking close up, I dont see anything near the tip that would indicate a mag jamming into it.
  12. Finally got around to tearing down the new S2 Xtreme. Can't really tell if anyone had been inside already, but none of the pins were polished at all, the firing pin block was not polished, nor was the plunger polished at all. The trigger bar had a decent polish on it however. Anyway, I got the plunger head and body polished up, did some more extensive polishing on the trigger bar, and installed a PD reduced trigger spring. Got all that put back together so far. Waiting on my Titan and new PD firing pins to arrive to move on. Got everything else that I want polished all done and ready for when the new parts arrive. One other thing I wanted to ask Joe at PD or Ary. This Xtreme firing pin is bent. The gun cannot have over 200 rds through it. I know you guys talk with Eric G quite a bit, and was wondering if this is something I could send to you guys and have it sent to him for evaluation? And perhaps get another non bent Xtreme pin (would be a backup as I am gonna use the new PD pin)? Expensive piece to be bending like that. Thanks and let me know what route I need to take with this issue.
  13. It is possible that the previous owner did go inside the gun. I am gonna disassemble today and take a look. I will try to get some pictures and post them up. Also, I never got a response on the coating on the xtreme's. It says from there website it is a ceramic coating? Anyone familiar with this kind of coating? Thanks
  14. What kind of coating is on the Xtreme anyway? Is it a form of cerakote?
  15. After playing around with the Xtreme some, the trigger is decent, but nothing close to my PD optimized S2. The Xtreme has a very smooth DA pull but quite a bit heavier than my S2. The SA is very nice also, with some takeup, breaks very crisp, reset is minimal but still more than my S2. All in all, the trigger isnt bad at all. The slide to frame fit seems to be very well done on this Xtreme, action is butter smooth. Would you guys leave this thing as is, or would you polish it out, perhaps add the bolo? Would the bolo work with the hammer on the Xtreme? What about the springs in an Xtreme? I assume they are lighter/better than a regular S2 but not as good as the PD springs? Anyone with knowledge care to chime in on that would be appreciated. A few pictures with the Lyman and some pull numbers...SA and DA on the Xtreme, then SA and DA on my PD S2...
  16. Well, as a relatively new owner of a Stock 2 that I recently just finished polishing and putting in all the PD springs and parts, I had been on the lookout for a polymer Tanfo to possilby carry some. Today, I just had the urge to stop by the LGS, and not suprisingly, no polymer Tanfos on hand (they do get in random Witness's and EAA's from time to time). However, as I worked my way to the used section, what do I see...there is a Stock 2 Xtreme sitting right there. I wasn't sure this was right. I immediately got one of the salesmen to me and started asking questions. It actually turns out to be a used Xtreme S2 that someone had just brought in the day before to sell to the LGS. It had the case, mags, all that comes with it usually I suppose. I couldn't believe that this thing happened to be there when I stopped by. Upon inspecting it, I don't think it could have more than 200 rds down the pipe if that. The salesmen said the thought the gentleman who sold it said he had 2 range trips with it, and it was too big/heavy for him. Well, after thinking about it for a few minutes and getting the price out the door, I had to jump on it. The polymer Tanfo will have to wait. Knowing what these go for brand new, I ended up paying $1225.00 out the door, which I thought was a fair deal. I probably have somewhere close to that in my regular Stock 2. Having kepy up with the recent thread on Xtreme vs regular Stock's I knew it might be alittle more $, but I couldn't believe it was there. I figured it had to be mine. Now I have a backup gun I guess, ha! Here is a quick picture and one with my PD Stock 2. Gonna do some inspecting and messing around with it and I will get back with some conclusions. Pretty happy thus far, and suprised lol!
  17. Very possible. I have since polished and installed the OEM bar and it works perfectly. Was able to send the Xtreme back to PD.
  18. yes, it has the fullsize grip and 3.6 barrel so I think my Stock 2 magazines should fit. Also I like the bull barrel setup on the Tanfo's so I want to make sure the model I may get has that setup.
  19. Since getting my Stock 2, I have also been considering a poly framed Tanfo for carry. Been looking at the WItness Carry P. It has the same bull barrel setup as the Stock 2. Any experiences with a Carry P from anyone?
  20. Yeah, my ext. firing pin block went right in with no fitting needed. Polished it up, and installed it. Pin and block both work as intended.
  21. Sear fitted and saftey works in hammer down, half cock, and full. Last thing to do is test with my ammo. Really am glad to have tackled this project, will make working, cleaning, changing parts so much easier now. It really isnt bad once you take it all apart and see it. Its a beautiful thing seeing how it all works.
  22. Got everything put back together. Titan, bolo, 1 piece sear (gonna need some fitting to get the safety to work), xtreme trigger, half assed polish job, 13# PD hammer spring, PD opt. firing pin spring, reduced trigger return, reduced sear spring, 10# recoil. DA pulls are averaging 6.7# and the SA pulls are coming in at 2.11#. Thing feels glass smooth, and the reset on the SA is almost zero. Pretty excited about it so far. Just need to get the sear fitting done now and then get out and test it for reliability. Thanks guys for all the help!
  23. Yeah, that circular look was just some of the coating that I didnt get off in the polish. So, I took the OEM trigger bar, polished it up and installed it with the trigger and return spring. Working like a charm now. That xtreme trigger bar was causing a binding somewhere somehow. Gonna try to possibly send it back to Patriot if possible. Will keep you posted on the rest of the install. Thanks so far for the help guys!
  24. After test fitting the xtreme trigger bar in the gun with no trigger attached, there seems to be plenty of room inside the frame for the bar to slide back and forth. Also the trigger seems to move freely when testing it by itself in position. Maybe the trigger pin was binding up somehow. How would I go about double checking to make sure that it does not bind up?
  25. After taking all back out it looks like the xtreme bar is rubbing pretty badly. Here are a few pictures.
