The standard Q5, is with similar cuts.

@random_guy7531 you weren’t thinking globally. No one was willing to produce metal striker competition guns because they would only sell in USA. The reason you don’f see Glocks in IPSC is (1) the 34 isn’t production legal, only the 17. And (2) you have to have a 5lb trigger for the first shot. That’s why DA/SA always ruled overseas. No one wants to shoot a Walther/Glock/M&P/XD with a 5lb trigger.

This year they dropped the pull weight to something like 3.0-3.5 and the striker guns aren’t unmarketable anymore. They can sell steel Q5s worldwide to USPSA and IPSC competitiors.

    @HoMiE

PPQ mags are easy to get 23+1 into for carry optics. Run flawlessly. TTI basepad, and a gram’s spring and basepad meant for the P320.

I have a walther Q5 match sf that will be here tomorrow. Also have a TTI base pad +5 coming tomorrow. I have a Graham’s spring and follower for p320 140mm length and that will get me 23 rounds in it for carry optics?

andrewtacAlmost any printer will do, mine is a Malyan M200 which cost less than 200€ a couple of years ago. It has only 12x12x12cm printing area which fits most things but forget printing darth vader helmets or such.

Malyan was so cheap they even misspelled their slogan on the side of the machine.
"Realizing possibilty" ... instead of possibility.

  3. I have had my Evolution Pro since August and am very happy with it. I have loaded around 6000 rounds of 9mm and am begging friends to bring components and let me load for them. I am also interested in the primer collator. Primers are hard to keep up with. I am thrilled with my Evolution Pro. I applaud  Mark 7 for having the guts to take on such a large project of introducing the Evolution series of presses. Not a small task. I know waiting isn’t my strong suit either but I’m glad I did. When any of you get your press and have an issue or a question  I will be happy to try and help. I am not an electronics type person but mechanical I have a better chance. I look forward to every loading session. Thank- You Mark 7.

This late in the year it seems Mark 7 should have filled all of their dealer orders.  I understand DAA placed their order at Shot Show in January???  It is a shame those that placed orders directly form Mark 7 might have to (should be first come first served) wait,  But it was their decision not to order from a dealer.

If I was a business (dealer) owner and a manufacture treated me like my orders didn't count I would be ticked off.  Mark 7 should not even have taken individual orders if they where going to go with dealers. Or at least wait until they had filled the dealer orders before they started taking individual orders.  Seems like a poor business decision to do both at the same time.

But then again they did not have to raise as much manufacturing capitol from outside sources.  They got a bunch of cash from individual preorders.

Back in the day, at least Microsoft when they kept touting Windows upgrades and kept postponing the release date.  They had not gotten consumer $$$ ahead of the release date.  You did not order the upgrade until it was available.

The touting was to keep your interest high.  Not to take your $$$.

    Norm

If I remember correctly Microsoft pulled more crap with windows upgrades and forcing the consumer into using things in windows they did not want or need that I never thought they had anything to pay upfront for.?

  5. I also went from a LNL to a Dillion 650 so I could auto drive. The 650 with mark 7 auto drive did really well but the priming system gave me a lot of bent and smashed primers. You have to use cci primers to keep them from going off. The 650 priming system is not the best. I also bought 110.00 dollars worth after market parts to make the 650 run smoothly. If you set off a primer on a 650 the whole tube will go off. Not good. The priming system on the evolution works better than any I have had. The handle is a roller grip with bearings in it. Heavy duty. The spring that holds the brass on the evolution  works similar to the Lnl but the Dillion 650 will give you issues on the the case feed part because nothing holds the brass in place as it goes up and will misalign and jam. Stick to the mark 7 you will be happier.

I do want to upgrade from LNL to a 7 stage press.   I have also been thinking of the RCBS Pro Chucker 7 A lot cheaper and less expensive caliber conversions.

My Evolution order is 40 caliber converting to 45 ACP is quite spendy.

    Evolution Individual Parts Machine Conversions
    View/Hide options

    If you have a…: 40 S&W
and you want a…: 45 ACP Large Pistol
Evolution Caliber Conversion Kit: Pistol - $349.99 $349.99
Evolution Case Feeder Conversion Kit: Large Pistol - $99.95 $99.95
Evolution Primer Conversion Kits: Large Primer Conversion Kit - $69.95 $69.95
    Evolution Bullet Feeder Conversions: Pistol .45 - $149.95 $149.95

    Total  $669.84  +  UPS ground $16.04

Decisions decisions ???  The Evolution seems like a great press but with a very high price tag.

I have seen some negative comments on the rcbs  pro chucker and how cheaply it’s made. The Evolution is worth the money. It comes down to, you get what you pay for.

When I receive my Evolution manual press I plan on using the RCBS lockout die which I already have.  It works great on my Hornady LNL It stops the press and I can not operate the press until I clear the under or over charged case. A tip, also remove the previously charged case as itmight be a little low on powder but not low enough to have caused the lockout die to work and stop the press.

I am assuming the Lockout die will work the same with the manual Evolution Press.

Easy to set up.  Google. Setting up the RCBS lockout die, some good videos.

The lock out die will work fine

I like the Evolution and what owners have said about it on this thread and other sites.  It is a mechanical press and should not be that complicated, like the revolution or the Pro.

It is the company that frosts me.  Also the subscription service for technical support.   That is why I didn't order a Evolution Pro or a Revolution, and don't think I will ever upgrade to the Evolution Pro.

What kind of back water company does not even have a PDF manual available for potential purchasers to study in this day and age????

Yes, I have thought about cancelling my order, and am still pondering doing that, and going with a Dillon 1050.

DAA say my Press should be ready to ship in  November or December and I can get a full refund of my deposit if I cancel.   So I have plenty of time to make my decision.

I wouldn’t cancel, It is an awesome machine. I have the evolution pro with bullet sense, powder sense, low primer sense and it runs like a top. Have had a few glitches and got them worked out. Very solid machine and tech support has been great. And I didn’t pay for any special support package. I have had Hornady, and Dillion and they all have learning curves. My choice would be the Evolution. A press can not have too many stages. 10 stages is the only way to go. And the priming system is great. Hope this helps.

  9. Has anyone had problems when you take the die head and shell plate off to clean and lube and put it back together and it only moves 2” during calibration and stops. I checked shell plate it moves easy so I loosened the die head bolt and it would move so I ran it a few cycles and then slowly tightened the Allen screw. It works but doesn’t seem as a smooth anyone run into this?

I'm reloading 9mm with my Evolution Pro and with the Lee undersize sizing die that came with the machine, it was difficult or impossible to load without lubing the cases. Today I got my Redding titanium carbide sizing die and that seems to do the trick, now with clutch setting 7-8 (out of 0-20) it works smoothly!

I am reloading 9 mm with the lee undersized die with hornady lube and run the clutch at 3 with no problems If you ever load once fired blazer brass it will not hold a bullet without undersizing. Learned that lesson the hard way. If you use new brass no problem with std dies.

Being as you have both powder measures  are they the same?   I had heard on another site that the mark 7 and the LNL where the same powder measure..

If so the LNL metering might fit the Mark 7  Powder measure?   This might fit and not come loosen or change the setting.

Another thought is to buy a few of these that are for the Mark 7 Powder measure (or hopefully LNL fit) and red lock tight them after setting the amount of powder for your load.  A different one for each caliber and load.

I just joined the Forum today as I am thinking about upgrading my LNL to a 7 stage Press and came across the Evolution which is even better.

I would not hesitate to switch from Lnl to an Evolution Pro the mark 7 is awesome.

  12. I have also used a hornady lnl powder measure on the evolution and it doesn’t slam shut like the mark 7 and the adjustment screw does not loosen. But I want to get the  mark 7 powder measure fixed. I did run the hornady measure at 2200 rounds an hour and it worked fine. I was using N320 set at 4.1 gr and checked it every 50 rounds the measurements varied 4.0 - 4.2 but was mostly 4.1.   I get about the same with the mark 7 measure that is using mixed range brass. I think the mark 7 measure is smoother operating. If I drill and tap mine I’ll let you know how that works

@dfox the charge also changes on mine after I load even 100 rounds and it is due to the knob loosening despite my really cranking down on it. Thinking about using VC-3 vibratite... Perfect application for it I'd have to imagine. Silly that this was not baked out though and I already had my powder measure replaced once by Mk7.

I used a 3/8 fine half nut that was a nylock. It fixed it but a pain to adjust powder just takes a little longer to dial it in. I think the way to fix it is to drill and tap the the part that the adjustment bolt threads thru. I took mine out of the rotating cylinder drop and with a drill press it would be easy to do. Then you would adjust the powder adj screw get it set and tighten the set screw and use vibratite on the set screw.

  14. Loaded with new brass evolution pro ran great. But no matter what I try the powder measure adjusting screw keeps backing out. And the nut holding the shell plate also loosened up. Don’t have anything to go off as far as adjusting shell plate tension so I set it up like my Dillion 650. I would like to get a complete manual with total tear down and caliber changing. Have loaded 4000 rounds having lot of loose screw issues. Am learning more and more about the press.

I have issues with bullet sense as well. Can't seem to make an adjustment that will let it reflect the laser back to the sensor. I have not even tried to deal with it yet with Mark 7 as I had been working on other issues.

If they do resolve it with you, please let me know it will save me a call.

I put some shims under the back of the bullet sense by unscrewing the Allen head bolt and shimming the back if you watch my you tube video of it running you will see the shims. I cut off the ends of feeler gauges as shims. Thinking about drilling and tapping the bracket under the laser and using set screws to adjust it.  Mark 7 told me to take the top off the laser housing and check the spring under the laser to make sure it was standing up not laying down. Mine was right but still could not get it to line up with out shims. I loaded 2000 rounds with it shimmed and it ran fine. But my powder measure screw keeps backing out and changing charge weight.

  16. Reloaded today on evolution Pro. Was using range brass multiple head stamps. Most all issues I had were related to the range brass. The only press issue I had was the powder measure adjustment knob staying tight. Was running the press at 2200 rounds an hour and the slamming of the powder measure when the return springs snap it back the powder adjustment comes loose and changes the powder charge. I tightened the lock nut with a plier and it still come loose after 200 rounds it would change the charge from 4.1 grains to 3.8. I think it is going to require a set screw in the locking nut to make it hold. The bullet sense I was having an issue with required some shims under the back of the housing to get it to line up and work, but it worked after that fix.It runs smooth at 2200 rounds an hour with index set on 1. Using new brass would make it fly and you would have to have primers, bullets, cases, and powder ready to go.Primers disappear very fast. Learning more and more as I load. Will do more again tomorrow am going to use new brass for this session.

  17. got my evolution pro and it works well had a few minor issues but got most fixed got bullet sense and can't get it to adjust like it is suppose to. waiting to hear on that.  I now need to order more bullets to continue playing. I have the powder sense, bullet sense, primer sense, and swage sense. everything works but bullet sense and it is kicking my butt.

I got this message from Mark 7 yesterday.

Got a message that you rang and wanted and update on your Evolution Machine. Currently we are gathering all the parts needed to produce the Evolution Machines in house. We are almost ready to start rolling some off of the line here in our Ft. Myers shop. You are #9 on the list and will be one of the first machines produced by us! I do not have a definitive date as to when we will actually start your machine but I will be in touch when we do so that you have a heads up on it. Roughly late May early June would be where I would estimate your Evolution to be ready. Keep in mind that this is a brand new product and the set up and production just takes a little longer to perfect.

I hope you are well and I know you will be super happy with your new Mark 7 Evolution.

Could I?  I'll be honest I've never used one, being a Hornady LNL user.  The dillon actuates off of the shell plate.  The evolution appears to not do that.

You could use an rcbs powder lock out die if your running it by hand.
