  1. This may be off topic but I have a 2011 open gun in 38 SC and want someone to supply and put or fit a new barrel cut for 9mm. Someone I wont have to wait forever to do it. Preferably in SO Fla.
  2. Now I only load 9 (plated)and 38 Supercomp (jacketed) and some 380. The 45 load is the same as I loaded 30 years ago. I have old records but i don't use those powders anymore and the magnum stuff, forget it I have so much 44mag and 367 mag. At my age its a Red Dot or scope. Iron sights are a thing of the past. I shoot 200 to 300 rnds a week, once a month 38 Supercomp and when I run out of brass I will put a new 9 barrel in my 2011. I will go through at least 12K SPP this year. I tried the miracle coated bullets and you can have them. And I can afford all the stuff. I bought al the stuff to load 223 but then counted all the loaded ammo I had and how much I shoot it I never used it. During the pandemic I built a 223 bolt gun and shot it for a while but not for a year now. I have been shooting a lot of 22lr, pistol and rifle. I still shoot my caplock with BP not pyrodex and patch and ball and the guys at the range hate when I bring it.
  3. Impressive that you have records dating back so far. I got my first press in late 1972 (pacific O Frame) to load 30 Herrett. Pretty much stopped keeping accurate records when I got my first Dillon in the early 90's. I was shooting so much and the 41 mag and 44 mag were mighty expensive. My buddy still has my first press and most of the tools I had for the Herriet.
  4. Just got an email fro Lohman Arms Winchester SP $153.55 per 1K delivered. A little steep!
  5. I am on that bot already. Mostly seeing SP Magnum. I loaded all my SPM primers and now working on SR. Kinda like the SR, they go into the pocket real easy. To be honest I haven't chroned the SPM or SR and I really cant tell the difference. My p320 ignites SP, SPM and SR. MY 2011 anything.
  6. I shoot at least 1K a month and sometimes more. I walked into a Wallmart yesterday and they had at least 10k 22's. I was at Bass Pro and the shelves were full of 9,40, 38's and a ton of 45's. I don't mind paying 10¢ each for primers. I just hate having to buy 1K at a time. If I could I would buy 25k I would be done with it for 2 years. There is plenty of powder around and not outrageous. I didn't say anything about the manufactures shutting down! What I said was. "Why would you start reloading or keep reloading when loaded ammo it plentiful and not to outrageous in price." You can buy loaded 9 in bulk for 26¢ and up. It cost me now about that to load my own. There are guys in my club buying 38 Super Comp major new ammo for 37¢ per. That's hard to beat!
  7. I am puzzled by one thing how Dillon, RCBS and Hornady are still selling equipment. Without a decent supply of Primers and Powder. There are plenty of bullets and brass. There is a little powder. But the primers are almost invisible. Why would you start reloading or keep reloading when loaded ammo it plentiful and not to outrageious in price. I wonder it they ever will be plentiful again?
  8. The PDF is gone. Accurate is now under the Hodgdon group. So the manual is gone. Anyone know where I can get the accurate load guide 8.0 PDF? There were loads in there that are not on the Hodgdon site.
  9. Yes TG and other fast powders are ok, but no gas for the comp. I use 3g of tg on 147's, but not in my open gun for my PCC and CO gun. I ran out of 124's Berrys and I am not wasting my PD's or Montanas for practice, so all I had was these 115's. And nobody in my club wants them. N340, N350 almost fill the case. HS6 is also a problem at 1.085. These bullets sit aprox .221 in the case. To make it in the case gauge. Some cases its a real problem.
  10. Thanks for the responses. I cant uses these with slow powders in my open gun even though I am not loading 9 major Just 9 Full Power. So anyone know any coated bullets with a more pronounced round nose?
  11. Not my question. As stated 2 manufactures. So here they are. Blue and Gallant bullets. These brands have a high shoulder I am sure others don't. Would like to try Coated but not looking to have compressed loads. And how many re loaders case gauge there ammo? When you run out of what you normally shoot you use all the crap you have laying around. And I have plenty of it. Mainly won or got free. Back to my staple plated Berrys or Xtreme!
  12. I am having an issue with Polymer Coated Bullets. 2 different manufactures. One 115g and the other 147g. This is the first time I have used Coated. Here is what i found with both loaded at the same length. 1.140. They won't go in my case gauge rim sticking up +-.0625. The plunk test in a KKM barrel doesn't work. I have pushed a test round bullet in until it fit in the case gauge with an OAL 1.085 (115g). So I am wondering if anyone has seen this. The funny thing is Berrys and Extreme plated don't exhibit this problem. at lengths to 1.150. Comparing the shapes (all RN) the plated have a more tapered point with the shoulder starting further back from the point both having a diameter of .355. They will cycle but I am having some issues cambering some.. I need to do some more testing but for now I am going back to plated.
  13. I just replaced the extractor (APEX) in my 40L with a 9MM KKM Barrel in it. I was having problems and getting a lot of stove pipes. No matter what spring I had in it. Seems to have worked. But when I had the pistol apart i noticed the the ejector has a pretty sharp edge on the front of it. It's worn. So I started looking for an ejector and I see 2 different ones. Did they change the ejector when they came out with the 2.0. Did they change the sear block in the 2.0?
  14. I shot it last night and had failure to fire on 2 stages. Went to my backup AR on stage 3 and as usual it fired flawlessly. Another Ruger shooter had extraction issues. I like the Ruger is is super accurate but these issues are killing me. I also find it slower that the AR. Probably will use it for steel but not USPSA . Hoping for some aftermarket parts.
  15. OHY! Ill still shoot the Ruger Thursday night. If it takes a dump it may end up in the canal behind my house. I know a couple of guys that shoot the JP and the CZ. I am staying with the AR carbine style (PSA upper & lower, JP Bolt and 308 Spring, Blitzcrieg buffer), No piston and no delayed blowback. My AR is not nearly as accurate as the Ruger but it don't break. Well except firing pins. (PSA Bolt). Not the JP bolt (well not yet) I have to figure out what the deal is with my AR carbine. I just cant get it to shoot flat. Second shot on the target is all over the place. Dam thing jumps.
  16. I am going to shoot it Thursday night and see if the issue persists. I'll take the gun apart and see how much play there is in the bolt. There is plenty of meat on the back of the extractor to take a couple of thousands off. Even so i think the hook also needs a little work.
  17. I guess I will have to shoot it next Thursday and see if it happens clean and wet. But its started happening dirty.
  18. I shoot 100, 115, 124, 147 and 165. The 147's show almost no jump when fired with an Alchin Comp. All at 1.140 Loaded on a Dillon with a Lee Factory Crimp Die. Now 147g Blue Bullets N340 3.8g OAL 1.140
  19. I had the Cmore on it and had to build a cheek pad out of pieces of yoga mat and a elastic knee brace the brought the stock up 5/8". But I hated it. Then I got a mount from Brian for a Venom that replaced the rear sight. Thought I had it made in the shade. Then the problems started. When I first got it I shot a couple of hundred rnds with irons. It was very fast and accurate. But i shoot steel with a 22/45. I'm POed because I like the rifle. I think if the extractor issue is solved i'll be happy with it. I am also with you. When i first got it I shot at least a 1000rnds of 100g to 165g bullets without a hiccup and never cleaned it. Now after a couple thousand rnds its starts having issues.
  20. I thought about stretching the spring. I think the extractor needs a mod in the shape of the hook and the depth. If you compare it to other extractors an look at how it fits in the case notch above the rim It doesn't compare. Ruger needs to make parts available. Namely, Firing Pin and spring , Extractor and spring, ejector and recoil spring. I would be more then happy to purchase these to have as spares. I would like to know how rnds shooters put through the Carbine before cleaning.
  21. To late for the pictures I put it back together. Will try and take some next cleaning. A case in the end of the bolt it pretty loose compared to several other guns . I am trying to get another extractor. When I do I will modify this one. The only place you can get any is Ruger and I cant find where you can buy spare parts. If you cant get spare parts you cant use it for competition. Maybe the rifle was dirty. Maybe there is not enough tension. The bolt face was extremely dirty. Guess I'll work on my AR and see if I can dial it in.
  22. Not sure I follow this. Can you tell me or point me to the Frozen mod?
  23. I shoot 100, 115, 124, 147 and 165. The 147's show almost no jump when fired with an Alchin Comp. Loaded on a Dillon with a Lee Factory Crimp Die. N340 3.8g OAL 1.140 It was amazing to me that the Carbine eats anything! The 100's were a little hot and I think the copper was coming off. I liked the 147's so i stuck with them. I need to put the bolt back together and see how well it holds the case. The other thing is you have to completely disassemble the rifle for cleaning. You cant just take the barrel of and shoot some brake cleaner on the bolt. Trigger group needs virtually no cleaning. And around the top of the mag well and ejector just needs to be wiped out. The bolt takes all the carbon and crap. Its hard to tell with the side pictures of the extractor if mine is worn more. Regardless I have been looking at extractors on my other 9's and they definitely have a more pronounced hook and notch for the case rim. The Ruger extractor it looks like a good failure point. I cant get a decent picture of my extractor. Hopefully someone will come up with a more reliable extractor. Look I love the rifle but!
  24. I am sure there will be plenty of aftermarket parts eventually. The thing is when I first got it, it was great super accurate and when I got the plate from Brian for the rear sight mount of the red dot I thought I was in business. Got rid of my cheek pad and went for it. So now I have had issues at 3 matches. The thing is it out shoots the AR period.
