  1. Please don't take this the wrong way, but for a man that was sold 7 defective firearms, you seem overly concerned about protecting their reputation.

That said, there are two ways to look at this.

    First school of thought:

You can send the firearms with known defects back for repair.

Any reputable manufacturer will have no issues with that.

If you truly "do not believe that this is the normal quality of their product" then why insist on sending them all back?

    Second school of thought:

Absolutely, positively instist on having each and every one of them inspected for function and safety.

If that many guns were proven to have a problem then the whole shipment is suspect.

This is especially true if the guns (or parts that built them) came from the same manufacturing lot.

Even the most reputable gun maker can have a batch of parts that is out of spec.

If their quality control inspection takes a sampling rather than check every individual part, bad ones can slip by.

This is even more likely if the parts are sub-contracted to a vendor where they cannot oversee the manufacturing processes.

If they are to be carried by police officers on duty or off, they must be absolutely reliable.

Err of the side of caution. Send them all back and don't take no for an answer.

  2. I find that a quart of vodka before a match will calm me right down.

Seriously, I remember those butterflys in the stomach and heart in the throat when stepping up to the firing line, especially at a big match.

I've always found that it disappears when the timer goes off,... or maybe I was too busy shooting to notice.

After the first stage or two it generally goes away.

    You are absolutely right.

Repetition and time will replace that nervousness with calm and confidence.

The excitement I get now doesn't come at the beginning of the stage, it comes at the end.

If I shot well, that is my happy place. ;)

  3. I present to you irrefutable evidence of blaspheme to your organization and you question my honor. Perhaps I was correct with my initial opinion that this Club is not what the title suggests but rather a gathering of wannabees.

Its time for Change. Change the peoples can believe in. You must rid the governing body of those that would undermine the very Constitution of JMB.

  4. I have to say I was disappointed.

"Casino Royale" was one of the best Bond films in a while.

I expected the same of "Quantum" but it fell short.

I thought the directing was poor, and the photography was shabby.

The camera always seemed to be bouncing around like a hand held home movie.

No plot, just a lot of helter skelter mayhem.

  5. Gameplayer,

I guess the question I would ask is are you far or nearsighted.

    I am farsighted.

Distance vision is fine but cant focus on anything close without reading glasses.

I got a set of prescription shooting glasses from Decot and they made all the difference.

They don't have as much magnification that my reading glasses do.

They are designed to give a slight magnification.

This gives the best compromise between the sights in focus an the down range targets in focus.

I can see my sights fine and the targets are slightly out of focus but not enough to bother me.

I also shoot an open gun when the spirit moves me, and it requires no prescription whatsoever.

In fact if I mess up and shoot the dot gun with my Decots, it blurs the dot.

I shoot the open gun with my Oakley sunglasses and they work beautifully.

The right set of lens may help you quite a lot.

I couldn't shoot irons without mine.

  6. When I took my level I RO seminar, the instructor started to talk about some of the ways people cheat and what to watch for.

    I was totally blown away.

I never even considered the possibility that someone would cheat in one of our competitions.

I can't begin to get my head wrapped around it.

Where in lies the honor or glory or satisfaction or whatever winning brings, if you won it falsely.

I couldn't look at a trophy I'd won in that fashion.

It would be cheap and meaningless.

Why would anyone do such a thing?

What would be the point?

  7. Fellow snobs,

Having shot my SS in a Major match (and several club matches since) I now have the requisite evidence laid down in the bylaws.

Also, my first SS classifer has been recorded on the USPSA website.

  8. I recently saw the movie "The Bucket List" (which I thought was very good).

It was about two guys that meet in the hospital.

Both have terminal diseases and they set out together to do all the things they want to do in life before they "kick the bucket".

They made a list and came to call it "the bucket list".

I don't think such a list should be reserved for short timers.

This is something everyone should have and should work at.

We all have things we'd like to see, experiences we'd like to have, places to go etc.

I don't have a formal list but I do have a couple of things in mind.

Do you have a "bucket list"?

    If so, what's on it?

  9. Gameplayer,

Hate to see you go, but sometimes we have to do things we don't want to.

However, just to satisfy my curiousity,.....

How exactly does one practice "for two years (ten months with a single stack)" and not fire a shot in a match?

Two major knee surgeries in that time period limited my mobility.

    Man that's tough.

All I can say is get yourself a dot gun and keep moving forward.

    Good Luck.

  11. You'll need photos for proof. Please match to avatar for confirmation..

I can hook Z up with photos.

BTW... I have NEVER even seen Boz with a 1911.

With Photoshop I could produce photographic evidence that Boz shot a match while wearing Superman's cape and fuzzy pink house slippers. :o

I think were going to need eye witnesses and sworn testamony.

  12. We had to bump two shooters to Open at the Area 8 because of these mags. They are not even close to fitting in the box due to their length.

    Gary

    Gary,

I was researching magazines when I came across this post.

It brings up an interesting question.

If you get bumped to open due to equipment, can you shoot the rest of the match with an open gun?

I am well aware that 5.1.7 states that you must use the same handgun and sights for all courses of fire unless your gun becomes unsafe or unserviceable.

In that event, you can change to a different gun if there is no significant advantage to the change (5.1.7.2).

This rule is clearly intended to prevent competitors from changing guns on a stage by stage basis to gain an advantage.

However, under these circumstances, where you have been pushed into the Open division due to equipment, you gain no advantage by switching for the rest of the match.

If fact you are at a considerable disadvantage if you do not.

I can't see why it shouldn't be allowed.

    Tony

  13. Congratulations Lynn.

Marriages that last don't just happen.

You have to work at it.

I hope you have many more anniversaries to celebrate.

My wife and I have been married 35 years.

That will become 36 in March.

The secret to a successful marriage isn't that hard to figure out.

As long as the following equation is true, you will stay married.

    Love > Aggravation

    It's just that simple.
