I agree 100%. Prodigy mags are only good for practice and taking stress off of your real mags.

The factory spring and follower are low grade. The spring is wimpy and the follower is bulky, it takes up a lot of space.

The action as the follower transitions through the tube is catchy. I spent some time trying to smooth things out but in the end they are not worth spending any time or money on.

Get Atlas or MBX whichever turns you on.

Good to know! I saw that EGW was making parts specifically for the Prodigy and was thinking that they might not be 100% compatible with all 1911/2011 parts. Sounds like this is not the case and standard 2011 mags will work just fine?

  2. Looks like the Springfield prodigy ships with one 17 round and one 20 round magazine. Does anybody know if the tube size of each is identical?

I would want to increase capacity for LO by swapping the base pads ans I'm trying to figure out how many additional magazines I would need to get.

    D60 everywhere…

Too bad they're a pain to load! I've run some bay style rifle matches and only use the 60 when I know 40 will be cutting it close

Most modern 1911 style guns accept standardized small parts as drop in.  Thumb safeties and grip safeties always have to be fit.  The days of 1911s being poor quality manufactured goods requiring custom work for any modifications largely ended years ago when real machinists started building these guns and their respective parts.

    Good point.

  5. I bought a pair of used Remington versa max and want to remove the extended tube on one and add a plug to use for hunting. There are 2 different thread pitches…coarse on the tube and fine on the extension. The cap is the fine thread.

Anyone know thread pitch/compatibility for the stock tube (the coarse thread)? Can’t seem to find any specifically for the VM since they don’t make it anymore

Do you know any specific parts that work or don't from the M4 on the Versamax?

A coworker has one that he said worked with 2 3/4" and 3" shells, but didn't torch off 3.5" shells. I'm thinking that the barrel may just need to be cleaned, but I'm curious about changing the hammer and action springs.

I’m not 100% sure but I think hammer and trigger are. There’s a list out there somewhere. Probably here…

Did the 3.5” shells chamber but not go bang? Or go bang but not cycle?

I have one I modified to fit into my PCC. I think it was a great training aid. I got the one with a red laser which is great for working on close range partials for height over bore. Then when doing simulated distance with smaller targets I just ignored it.

It did start acting up on me early on, and I emailed them and they told me how to apply a little grease to the thing that resets the trigger. I was skeptical what would work but it did. They claim 100k cycles on the battery. Assuming that is accurate I put close to 200k cycles on mine last year. I ran it until it wouldn't reset the trigger anymore. Takes a long time to charge. You can out run it a little but that didn't seem like a big deal to me.

I assume trigger choice could effect results, I use it with a hiperfire pdi.

Thanks! Are you using their targets and app to record shot placement? Seems like it be valuable feedback…kinda like how we use live fire to confirm dry fire work.

  8. I bought a pair of the a couple of years ago. They were used and abused in 3 gun for years prior and have been 100% reliable for me with all loads. They came with a ton of spare parts but I also learned that most benelli m4 parts are directly compatible with the versa max.
