Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. When i sat atomic fireballs that is really an understatement i could actually see fire around the ejection port and inside the ejected cases as they were flying away there was fire everywheres
  2. AZ38super how much powder are you using with the 115s?
  3. i loaded up some 3n38 for my 9 major started with 8.6 gr nd went up .2 gr at a time until i made 171PF. i really liked the way the gun shot until i took it indoors. i had not noticed outside as it was a bright day when i tested but it looks like litttle atomic explosions every time i shot. the fireballs were enough to make me quite shooting. What i'm wondering is if i will get the same fireballs from N350. Just in case anyone wants to know gun- dawson ministroker 2 barrel ports dawson comp brass- win bullet- 125 zero JHP primer- win SR OAL- 1.170
  4. 7.2 grains of 7625, 125 zero JHP, WSR primer, OAL 1.167, coming out of a dawson ministroker 4 3/4" barrel dawson comp and 2 port holes. if you load to 1.23 oal it may take a little more powder, but be careful as at 1.23 the bullet is closer to the rifleing and could cause pressure spikes. 9mm chambers were originally designed for a max OAL of 1.169
  5. you should have no problems making major with your gun. i have a dawson ministoker, 4 3/4" barrel with dawson comp and 2 port holes. my favorite load so far is 7.2 grains of IMR 7625 (173 power factor) but i have tested all the way up to 7.4 grains and down to 6.8 grains 176 and 165 power factors respectivly. OAL on all 1.167, with 125 grain zero (.355) it can be a pain to load but there are other rewards, no hot gas to the face, very little dot movement, veeeeerrrrrrryyyyyyy clean. like harmon said i would start around 6.4 and go up but also go down every gun is different.
  6. talked to GSI last week was told mid jan. will start shipping and the xl650 feeder is $595.00
  7. shot it today twice first try to get my open classification second to keepup my limited open 52 points 9.42 seconds limited 52 points 9.15 seconds (i'm c class) is something saying go back to limited
  8. TDean i will be starting to test my 3n38 very soon got put off by the hurricanes. I'll post as soon as i'm done i also have been working with 7625 which i am perfectly happy with but being a chronic "can't leave well enough alone" kinda guy i must play. I'll post that info as soon as i finish the chrono portion of the test.
  9. eric have you had a chance to chrono your loads? what is the PF,
  10. I'm pretty sure you are correct harmon powder and primers cannot ship together.
  11. some say that 3n38 will produce excessice fireballs coming out of the comp has anyone experienced this?
  12. 9major-caspian so other than cost and availability you like 3n38 harmongreer I'm still very new to this open gun thing by shoots flat in what way are you refering? i think what i am looking for is a little less up and down dot movement
  13. thanks 9major-caspian, i actually like the 7625 but it was the first powder i tried and had no basis for comparison. what didn't you like about the 3n38 as compared to 7625. i am also interested in silouette let me know what you find. also when you guys talk about barrel lenght where do you measure to get that lenght?
  14. thanks harmongreer, that is good to here because i am getting 1410 FPS with 7.45 gr IMR 7625 and 1395 FPS with 7.35 gr of 7625. when people list barrel lenghts where do you meaure from?
  15. what OAL chris, if you were asking me flex i am curently loading to an OAL of 1.168 with the IMR 7625 load with no signs of pressure and very little dot movement.
