  1. I want to ask this question to the guys shooting open 9 major. I will put a new upper to my open gun, changing from 40 to 9 and want to know what MSH weight do you normally use . Thanks.

I'll play. This. Steel pt evo grip, deltapoint pro 2.5 moa dot, long dust cover, shortened slide,2 port sv comp with three holes in the barrel. 9major and I have done the unthinkable so far and only ran blue bullet coated 125s so far at 170pf (800 rds) with no hiccups and so far no leading I have noticed. The plot thickens.

IMG_0418.PNGThis is a heavy gun btw at 53oz empty.

How does those 2 port and 3 holes works? How's the recoil? I am putting new upper to my open gun with the same number of holes. Thanks.

Your sight focus needs to be on the sight more than the FO.

the light bars between the front sight and rear sight blade is what allows fast accurate splits,

Also a slightly deeper notch also helps vertically with accuracy

short range target focus, mid range i.e. middle focus, long range front sight focus

LOL, open shooters have to remember to use the rear sight

LOL you are right! I really need to go back to basic and learn how to use iron sights. I dry fire a lot and I am really working hard on how this things work during my live fire session.

I am determined to shoot limited this time and bump my class this year.

You may need glasses to 'crisp up' the picture of the front sight. Front sights are right in the area just about anyone over 40 has issues with. Throw on a pair of 'cheater' (inexpensive reading glasses) a get some sight pictures when dry firing.

You are absolutely right. I have issues in how to recover a good sight picture after my first shot. I am close to my golden age and this is why i love to shoot open division. I decided and challenged myself to shoot limited this time.

I preferred to use my prescription glasses than my contact lenses for the reason that I get a good sight picture of the front sight. I dry fire everyday and started shooting limited since the beginning of this year and sometimes disappointed when I see a MIKE in my scoresheet. I thought about maybe, a bigger front sight will help me with this issues.

I have been running a Dawson 0.100 front sight, and it has worked well for me. I have considered going smaller so it doesn't cover as much of the target for longer shots.

Well I guess this is the problem, I was used to shoot fast splits in open and trying to find the same results in limited. I am using a small fiber but had issues in terms of my accuracy when shooting fast. I think I need patience and wait for the right time when my eyes will get use of these iron sights. I read that some shooters love to use large front sight for quick acquisition but I am not sure if this will work for longer and tight targets.

  6. No that isn't the springs fault.  Sounds like you dont have enough overtravel.

You shouldn't be able to feel the hammer and sear rub when holding the trigger in and moving the hammer back and forth manually.

Sorry that you misunderstood what I was trying to explain. As I was pulling the trigger, I was guiding the hammer to move forward to strike the firing pin but there were some part of the cycle that the hammer will stay half cock. I tried to switch the sear, sear spring and disconnector to my open gun and it has the same issue.

  7. Take the grip safety off and see what is going on in there when it happens.

If the trigger moves in and out but nothing happens the disconnector likely hasn't reset. Investigate why it isn't being pushed forward by the sear spring. Something may be catching or there isn't enough pressure on the middle leg of the sear spring.

If the trigger is hard to pull/doesn't move the hammer may have fallen to half cock. If this happens you need to put more pressure on the left sear leg and/or have the sear and hammer engagement looked at.

I noticed this while playing with the hammer a while ago. While pulling the trigger and gently guiding the hammer to move forward, sometimes its stays at half cock and I cant pull the trigger. Do I need to push the left sear leg forward to add more pressure?

  8. Need help from someone who can explain me if what is wrong with the trigger system of my STI. During live fire, the trigger seems lock and or maybe did not reset after each shot that Im having difficulty pulling the trigger on my next round. When dri firing, this issue does not occur and it seems nothing wrong with the trigger system. Trigger is soft and you can feel the reset.

I tried to adjust the over travel screw while having this issue but that did not fix the problem.

Not sure if I need to replace the ignition component of this gun or if there is just a part that need to be replace.

I can't tell how old this gun was or there is already a wear and tear in the component since I bought this gun used.

Thanks for any help or advise.

  9. Upon further consideration, for just a little more than the Dillon bullet tray with the mounting bracket I wanted from Inline Fabrications ($45 + $25), I opted to get the Bully Adapter and go with a bullet feeder. The Bully marries the Hornady bullet dies to the Lee bullet feeder tubes, so for under $100 I get a bullet feeder comparable to the Mini Mr Bullet Feeder, except you don't need to keep buying extra "cartridges" from Mr Bullet Feeder for each caliber; the Lee Tube Feeder does ALL pistol calibers.

I just want to know if all these adapters will work with a coated bullet? Thanks

  10. I got one of the bad Caldwell's with a faulty sensor. When I email customer service, 5 days later I had a new chrony on my porch. There are probably better units out there, but for the price and package its hard to beat.

Had the same problem with my first Caldwell chrono. I called the customer service and explained that the chrono sensor was defective and not picking up the right speed. Customer service did not asked for more info about the problem and 4 days later, the new chrono arrived. One happy customer.
