I am currently running DAA Racer that I cut a relief in the front for my fingers to index. I have them bullets out right now with 6 on my belt.

I drilled the front hole to run bullets out and thought about doing a relief cut on them. I ran a drill bit in my finger to the bone doing the front hole so its hard to say if I would still have all 10 digits after relief cuts lol

Glad to see you will be shooting some single stack. Someone else for me go learn from. I had good luck this year with DAA pouches. Come shoot with us in February

You know i’ll make a few appearances at PCSI this year! Love shooting up there but man its a haul for me. I purchased some Racer pouches from a forum member and I think they’ll work well for me. I guess i’m going to have to relearn reloading since i’ve been shooting primarily PCC for almost a year now. haha See you on the range soon Tom!

  3. Plan on shooting some SS in USPSA this year. Having trouble deciding on what mag pouches to go with. Looking at the DAA Racers and Safariland 771’s but i’m wide open to opinions and suggestions. Been a few years since i’ve shot SS. So whats the hot mag pouch these days?! Thanks for the input in advance!

  4. Looking to see what you fellow shooters are using on your competition belt using S&W M&P magazines. I'm currently using DAA Racers and thinking of exploring other options. I think the pouches work phenomenal but designed more for extended length mags such as Limited or Open mags 140mm or longer. Not enough mag body sticking out the top to grab ahold of for me. So what are you guys using?

  5. Is this a real thread?

After 2 slides in the mud with a loaded gun in hand you realize how important footwear is if you move quick. Im a big guy but I can get trucking so i need something to grab so I can stop! I place good footwar an equal part like a quality competition belt!

  6. I have a set of molded earpro from prem ear now. a little over a year old and theyre starting to peel so its time for some new ones. Who are you guys and gals using for them? I will be shooting the Buckeye Blast this weekend so im not sure if someone will be on site doing this or not. Just seeing who everyone else is using and exploring options

  7. Im happy with my Large CED backpack however i just use for Lvl2 or Higher matches. Local matches i use a medium size rangebag from Midway and it serves me well. I also purchased the cart which is a great concept but i never could get the tires to stay inflated so i switched it to 8" solid rubber wheels problem solved

I've been looking for a solid rubber wheel with an axle OD that fits this cart, but no luck. Where did you buy your wheels?

  8. From a friend who works at Federal

"We are running at capacity right now and just keeping up with loaded round demand for the most part. We have got an expansion plan in the works right now to increase supply"

    Jon

This is what I was looking for. Someone with a in at Federal. Tell your friend to start working doubles we all need some primers!!!

  9. Noooo stop buying federals and let the revolver guys get them!! Im down to 1000 federal primers and my revolver will not ignite anything but federals deep seated. Same boat here searching for federals locally with no luck.

People still use Revolvers!? You know there is such divisions that allow you to use doublestack magazines and you can fill them up! Some even hold 30rds!! lol Sorry I couldnt pass the opportunity up! Best of luck in your search for hens teeth like me!!

  10. I can use any primer in my 2011. May have to up the mainspring a couple pounds to do so but thats no issue. I just prefer Federal as ive ran them for years with 0 issues of lightstrikes. Take in consideration i could run others reliably im sure I just prefer Federal and was hoping someone on the forum may have some insight on the issue at hand

  11. Anyone have any insight on why Federal Small Pistol Primers are nonexistent? My guy has had a order in for a year for 250k with no luck on getting it filled. I see them every now and then at Cabelas but not very often. Didn't know if someone may have a in with Federal and know what the deal is.

  12. Custom guns will likely come with 'better' internal parts, better fit, and have all the features you personally want. Some things are expensive or impossible to change - like stippling on the front strap, or changing from an LPA to a Bomar sight, etc.

I got a nice stock gun with a lot of 'upgrades' - but still spent a ton of cash personalizing it and/or improving it. A custom gun would probably have been the same or less money and I'd have everything exactly as I want. The flip side is that I spent a little less cash to start, and got to shoot a quality gun while I decided what features I decided I needed to add.

If you have some good shooting experience and know exactly what you want in a gun, get a custom. If you are new, it wouldn't hurt to go custom but you might not know what you want until it's too late.

A quality stock competition gun will keep a lot of its value if you decide to sell it. So will a custom gun from a reputable builder.

I couldnt agree more with this. I bought a STI Edge to try the 2011 platform. Made Master Class with my Edge so it is a fine pistol and i've had 0 issues with it. However I'm now in search of a Custom 2011 and have a Edge for my backup. Starting with a off the shelf semi custom 2011 is the way to go in my opinion because you decide to go custom you already have your backup in the stable!

  13. So after some research it appears the rear apeiro serrations are two quarter circular cuts that are cut on a slight angle to make the cut taper towards the front. They are not much different in fact than the regular saw tooth serrations you see more often, but they do leave a small flat between the cuts and seem to cut deeper and on an angle that makes the cut area wider than most saw tooth serrations I have seen.

I do have access to so 2D cad so I have been playing with that a bit. Here are a few drawings of my ideas. The drawings are NOT to scale, just messing around for now. I drew up what the same style cuts could look like on the normal 110 degree angle, and also what a larger radiused cut would look like intersecting the top and bottom of the slide at the same points as the straight cuts.

Which do you guys like better? Any other ideas? Is a gunsmith going to be able to make these style of cuts?

    front cocking serration ideas.jpg

Id say that would look pretty close myself!!
