  1. I've been getting lots of emails from Front Sight. Has anyone been there or have any imput. I was thinking about going but I'm more into competetion and this sounds more like Urban warrior training. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.
  2. I agree with you about the accuracy / plain sight issue. I'm much more accurate with the plain sight. I just need to know what the majority of shooters like so the gun will be used and enjoyed. By the way, Sky Kings plane was the "Song Bird". Guess I am an old fart.
  3. My thanks to all of you for sharing your loads. I am going to load some of the 200 and 230 gr. loads to test point of aim and groups. Once everything is finished I'll post some photos of the gun and groups. Keep Shootin' Bruce
  4. My personal favorite is a 200 gr. LSWC with 4.0 grs. of Titegroup. If I can get more info on loads all you shooters use, I can calibrate the sights for that load. Keep Shootin' Bruce Warren
  5. Thank you all for helping me out. As I said, I am installing a Heinie Slant Pro (plain) rear. I have both Dawson and HiViz on hand. I have a personal preference for the HiViz. Being able to change size and color easily make a strong case for it. Besides, Bud Bond was a good friend and he set me on to them. I also like the .100 Dawson and have used them on some other prize guns I have built. Are any of you planning on attending the Gator Classic in October? Keep Shootin' Bruce Warren
  6. Thank all of you for your responses. The rear sight will be a Heinie slant pro with no inserts. I have several front sights on hand and I'll fit the one the that fits the bill. By the way, does anyone know what TGO uses? What does the Army team use? Keep Shootin' Bruce Warren
  7. I am building my idea of the perfect Single Stack Classic / IDPA/ limited prize gun for the Louisiana Gator Classic. It has everything you NEED and nothing you don't. My questions is--- Do shooters feel that a fiber optice front sight is important enough to add to this gun. My thinking is a standard black front sight would be best but I want to hear for the shooters who know best. http://www.southernshootingcenter.com/la-gator.htm Thanks in advance for your imput.
  8. I was hoping to find a thread from those who attended the IDPA Nats. Can someone direct me to a place where I can find out how the match was and how the shooters did? Thanks in advance. Keep Shootin'
  9. Just a quick note to let all you steel shooters know that the Big Dawgs Steel match will be held July 28,29,and 30. That's right, 3 days this year. This will allow more shooters to compete. There will be side events this year too. A 22 match as well as a shotgun match. For match information and entry form, check: www.bigdawgsteel.com The Big Dawgs Steel match would like to welcome back Caspian Arms as a 2006 sponser . We would also like to give a Great Big Welcome to a new sponser, EGW. Both have agreed to donate prizes to the prize table this year. We know that manufactures are hammered each year for prizes and I would like to personally thank Gary and George for their generosity in supporting "The Big Dawgs".

  11. Well, now that things have returned to somewhat normal, I have the time to post this note. My thanks to all the people who worked so hard to put on the first of what I hope will be many more Big Dawgs steel match. 14. The BIG DAWG STEEL MATCH is ON!!! If you like shooting falling steel plates with NO RUNNING, JUMPING, SWINGING, OR FLOPPING ON THE GROUND LIKE A FISH, then this match is for you. Hunter Customs, 2 Alpha Bullets and the BC Armory are sponsoring a no nonsense, fast shooting steel match for all shooters on July 30 and 31 being held at the IOP range in Lowell, Iowa. This match will feature at least 16 stages of plate racks and field courses of poppers. Plate racks will have round plates, pesky poppers, bowling pins, big bullets and one stage of Opening doors (for those of you who have been to the American Handgunner, these stages will be familiar). Rules are simple. Two classes: Open and Limited. Limited class is any center fire semi auto or revolver WITHOUT OPTICS, COMPS, OR PORTS. Open is any center fire semi auto or revolver. Simple, huh! This match will be a HEADS UP MATCH. NO SHOOTER CLASSES. The fastest shooter goes to the prize table first. The 2nd fastest shooter goes next and so on. Shooting the match will also be simple. Start with the gun in a holster-ANY BELT HOLSTER THAT COVERS THE TRIGGER GUARD (not cross draw)- with your hands in surrender position. At the sound of the buzzer, draw and shoot down the plates. All plates MUST FALL. A 30 second time limit will be given for DNF’s. Plates will be calibrated to a 130 power factor. Each stage will be fired 4 times. ALL 4 RUNS COUNT- NO THROW OUTS. You can stuff your guns full. All stages are 6 round neutral. The range is located 15 minutes east of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Amerihost, Super 8 and Best Western as well as others are close by. Wal-Mart is there for your ammo needs. The IOP range is offering cash payback as well as the prize table. Hunter Customs and the BC Armory are each donating $1000 of prizes to the prize table. 2 Alfa Bullets will be donating bullets to the table. Other sponsors will be added and listed as they come on board. Now for the really important stuff---Cost: Entry fees before July 1st. $50 for one gun, $75 for 2 guns. After July 1st. $75 for one gun, $100 for both classes. Where is this place you say? On Highway 34 between Mt. Pleasant and Burlington Iowa. Take the New London exit (244) and turn south about 3 miles.
