  1. Dot Torture is a great practice......I recommend you shoot it any way you want to......It is a great feeling as you see yourself improve each time you do it at each trip to the range...great for indoor ranges. It is also great for shooting that pistol that you don't shoot as well as some of your other pistols.... Cmax
  2. If you were going to make a load for training light this; what would you do? I need the train of thought for developing a load to train for this.....simple components (I am poor)...plated bullets, faster or slower burning powders, etc..... in 9mm to start with......I am not looking for a specific load data, instead advice on how to think and develop a round for this training.....Any advice will be appreciated.. Cmax
  3. I did a lot of research and I have a limited budget for my gun adventures, I decided on this one; https://youtu.be/2E0sKBm1Bms?list=PLGIcbXKjB2nQyfhP6mcQv6ObUBGiAXpfw Cmax

  5. There is a lot of great information and people doing gun channels on YouTube. There is a bunch of crap as well. Although I am no expert, I love shooting and reloading and I have a YouTube gun channel. You can find it at; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDtNqxtVdvdMDmh0GR_4Fhg It's called Cmax Arms. Cmax
  6. I have improved the most with this drill.... what distances do you practice at?
  7. Frankford Arsenal is sending me a replacement...thanks for the heads up on it Cmax
  8. Decent vid. Thanks for sharing. Supposedly these are getting a redesign, and FA is supposed to be sending me a new one. Ive started avoiding Winchester primers largely because they wont feed thru this thing. Call me lazy I guess, but I hate stabbing primers. Yeah I hate stabbing primers as well. thanks for heads up on the redesign, I will contact them...Cmax
  9. If you have or are going to get the Hornady AP press, you must watch Highboy's Videos on it. just search for "Bill Morgan" that is highboys Youtube name.. hit playlists cause he has over 500 videos. If you do what he says, your press issues are over.....Cmax
  10. Mine worked good out of the box. I do not like Winchester primers. I try and use CCI. Here is a link to my review on the Vibra prime tool; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da2sjLKtQOY Cmax
  11. I have 2 Hornady power measures. Did you totally take it apart and clean with alcohol and lube it with dry lube? My powder drops are dead on consistent every time. 2 keys are the setup clean and use the correct rotor. Cmax
  12. The guy you saw with the light is Bill Morgan (YouTube Name) I suggest you watch his Hornady LNL press videos. He makes the press malfunction in every way possible and shows you why and what to do. I followed his advice and fully understand the press and how to set it up correctly. I have gotten to know him and he is a great guy. search bill morgan and look for the hornady videos ( he has over 500 videos). Thanks Cmax
  13. Thanks for all the responses, well I have my new press and here is a review of it. Cmax https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFhGTb9iVoU click on link!
  14. What powder do you consider clean burning? Any type. pistol rifle, shotgun etc. I am interested in peoples different opinions. Thanks Cmax
  15. I have a fair amount of Red Dot Powder. I was told and read that Red Dot was too fast a powder to use for .357 Magnum except for custom light loads (38 spl velocities). I was looking at a "Alliant Powder Reloaders Guide 2013". The burn rate listing shows Bullseye as the fastest powder that they have (faster than Red Dot). Then I saw the.357 Magnum load data in the same book and they list Bullseye as a powder option. Bullseye shows 939 FPS. Not a high velocity for a 357 Mag load though. So you can use Red Dot but should not? Because? Hard on brass? Too high pressure? I wanted to get the opinions and advice from the Pros here, so tell me what you think.....thanks Cmax
  16. I am looking any feed back on Ginex primers. Not much opinions out there, so I wanted to know what the pros think. Thanks Cmax
  17. You've probably confused more people here (and on arfcom, identical post) by giving the part # - it's not like there are multiple variants - LnL AP (the one you're talking about) or the LnL AP Ammo Plant (case/bullet feeder) is pretty much it. Strong mount from Inline Fabrication - you have a few different heights to choose from, as well as with a single press specific top plate, or 'quick change' top plates to use multiple presses on one base. The quick-change plate setup will likely work - ask the owner Dan if he can sell you a 'blank' quick-change plate, plus the one for the LnL AP, then you can drill the blank for your Pacific press. Get the Hornady bullet feeder die for the relevant caliper, then buy some clear tubing (I think someone gave OD/ID measurements on your arfcom post) - done. Extras - a couple of shell plate/case holder springs, and buy 6 packs for Hornady lock-rings (best out there I've found, bar none), and 10 packs of the quick-change bushings, assuming loading for multiple calibers - Hornady includes 5 bushings with the press, so you're good for at least the first caliber. I think I also got a few spare case springs with the press as well. Maybe add a spare primer shuttle spring, as well. Depending on calibers to be loaded, and variety of powders, I really like the powder measure micrometer inserts, and I picked up a second powder measure - one for pistol, one for rifle. The rest is really just down to one-time setup. Clean the powder measure and parts from the factory 'cosmoline' well. Spray w/degreaser, then soak and agitate in Dawn + water in the sink, rinse, repeat, rinse, let dry, then manually cycle a few # of powder through it back into a powder jug, and should be ready to go there. Use some fine sandpaper on a glass surface and run the primer slide across it to ensure no burrs exist, then smooth out the primer shuttle 'edge' (rounded part) a bit, and if you'd like, cut a slight 'undercut' or downward bevel on the lower half of the front rounded edge, so it'll be less likely to jam with a few errant grains of powder. Remove the 'blast tube' and internal primer tube from the press, so the shuttle is in place, and only the part the blast tube screws into. Push handle all the way down, and adjust the top of the primer cam wire so the primer shuttle primer pickup hole is very slightly just past 100% centered, to be a hair more rearwards. Tighten down and you won't need to adjust it again for a long time. A dab of grease under the shell plate, grease gun the zerk fittings, and dry lube or graphite on the primer slide, and you're pretty much good to go. Wow, thanks for your advice. I always posts my questions on several sites as I take no one piece of information I get. If i get several similar answers then I usually have good data. I always reference part numbers to be more exact. this has saved me some mistakes in ordering in the past.
  18. I have to get a Hornady progressive press part# 095100 (wanted Dillon but have gift cert for a place that does not carry Dillon)I have a couple of questions for you AP guy's; I have just ordered the AP press #095100. Is there a strong mount available for it? Will the AP press mount in the same holes that I mount the Pacific single stage press 00-7? Is there a bullet feeder that is a tube only?(die + tube w/o hopper)? I want to manually load a tube with bullets and not use a hopper..is that possible? any advice on extras that I should get or about anything would be great! thanks Cmax
  19. I am looking for any Tips, Tricks, Cheats etc. That is related to Firearms. They can be for; buying, selling, gunsmithing, cleaning, shooting, training, targets, reloading, ANYTHING related to firearms that saves Time, Ease, have more fun and especially Money! I am going to compile these "tips" into (hopefully) a large list for everyone's benefit, all in one place. example; I am going to show I made "homemade" tools for Smith & Wesson revolvers Dis-assembly/Assembly.This tool is at Brownells for $23.95 + shipping! These homemade tools saved me $25-$30!, Using Drywall anchors for 22LR snap caps. etc (you get the idea!) Thanks Cmax
  20. In response to my previous post. I was referred to the UM3 mount. (thanks Waynes_world_45) Can anyone give me any 1st hand opinions on it? I have many pistols and little money so the idea of swapping from gun to gun and it maintaining zero sounds too good to be true. Also I would like experiences and opinions abut the Burris FastFire III 8MOA...is it good to go? about $230 is all I want to spend. I would be using for training, practice and fun, no competition. Thanks for your time...Cmax
  21. GREAT, thanks ya'll. Now I have to learn about the optics. Can someone tell me about 3 MOA vs 8 MOA? Which is better for rifle and which is better for pistol? Thanks again for your response...Cmax
  22. I have several pistols of different manufacture....I wanted to see what is availble for red dot that are not mounted on slide...who are the bracket makers? thanks Cmax
  23. Would someone please explain the difference between SB dies and FL dies. How do they differ and advantages and/or disadvantages of them... Thanks in advance Cmax
  24. I take used dryer sheets and rubber band them on the outside of my powder measure/dispenser. That seems to work fine. I also use a cheap electric tooth brush (also rubber banded to it) to settle the powder. I dont have to run it all the time, only for a while after filling it up. Cmax
