  1. If a CZ feels great in your hands, you probably want a CZ.

I'm pretty sure all small and large Tanfo's have similar exterior size.

My buddy had a 9mm Stock II. Got an Accushadow as a backup. Ended up selling the Stock II because the CZ was a better fit for him (smaller hands). On the flip side, I don't care for his Accushadow and prefer my Limited & Stock II due to the larger grip.

It's just a want thing I guess. I might not even like it once I get it.

  2. I've been eying Stock II's for a while. I know they are hard to almost impossible to find. My question is if I were to stumble on to one, how would I know if its a large frame or a small frame? Which is more desirable? I have small to medium sized hands and the CZ SP01 feels great in my hand so I'm guessing the small frame is the one I want.

    Please fill me in.

    Thanks,

  3. I came accross a CZ 97B in 45 acp. It looks like a SP01 and it has a black bushing on the front like an accu-shadow. All the rest of the gun looks like standard CZ stuff. What is this gun and is it desirable?

    Thanks,

  4. I have 2 of these guns set up one for match one for practice hopefully my data helps.

Both guns have extended firing pins and the very light Cajun firing pin springs and trigger return springs.

    Match Accushadow:

8.5# hammer spring 10# recoil spring + lots of polishing = 4lb. 9oz. double under 2lb single MUST use federal primers but its 100% if I seat them properly. This gun is obviously tuned for match shooting light loads very flat very little recoil very light almost too light trigger. The 10# spring shrunk my double groups reduced A-C targets meaningfully so don't underestimate how much finding the right combo matters.

    Practice Shadow:

11.5# hammer 11# recoil + polishing = 5lb. 10oz double 2lb 11oz single. I use whatever primers I want and its at least 99%+ with whatever. Gun shoots fine little more movement and little heavier trigger makes my match gun feel amazing when I really push.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info.

  5. I have a SP01 Shadow from CZ Custom with all the works. I can't remember what weight recoil and hammer springs it has in it. The gun shoots great and is 100% reliable. I just want to play around and feel the difference. I have a couple of questions.

What is everyone's favorite recoil/hammer spring combo?

If I go with a lighter weight spring combo, will I notice a difference in recoil. It's a 9 so I know recoil is lower anyway.

Note: all I buy is Federal primers so that is not a problem.

    Thanks,

  6. Last year I shot a Glock 35 in limited. I realized I needed a real race gun if I intended to keep up. After considering all the options, I realized USPSA is not my primary shooting sport. I am a cowboy shooter most of the year. I just shoot USPSA in the winter. I need some winter work on my Rugers and maybe a new 73 rifle so I really didn't want to spend 3 grand 2011 race gun. Looking around I thought I would buy some kind of less expensive almost race gun for fun. I bought a CZ Tactical sport. I didn't expect much. Just something approximating a limited race gun. I just got back from the range. I put my first 55 rounds on target. I have to say I had no idea you could get that kind of performance out of a $1,100 pistol.

The trigger is unexpectedly light and crisp. Sort of like one of my race Rugers. It surprised me once or twice. The weight completely tames the 40 S&W. The extra length in the barrel gives it a long sight radius. It is very accurate. Much more accurate than the Glock 35. Its accuracy reminds me of my tuned 1911 but the trigger is amazing.

All I really need is a fiber optic front sight, maybe an adjustable rear sight, an extended thumb safety and maybe thinner grips and I will be all set.

This gun has got to be some sort of secret. I can't understand why you would want to spend twice as much for something with similar performance.

Hey Bart, I've been thinking about a TS 40, but as a CAS shooter over the last 18 years I'm still trying to master the CZC SP01 9mm 1st. I got a little tired of the big close mode the sport has resorted to so I thought I'd give this challenge a try.

And yes there are Race Cowboy Guns. As a builder of 73 rifles, Winchester 97's, and SKB's, the smiths in this sport have no idea how lucky they are to actually start out with a good gun to begin with.

I've built hundreds of rifles and shotguns and sent them around the world so I'm used to starting out with a basic kit and turning it into a gun that is expected to do things it was never intended to do.

Have fun with your TS. Good to see there is other CAS shooters around.

  7. Anyone have trouble with a 147gr cast bullet touching 3.4 gr. of N320? I have a SP01 and if I load more than an OAL of 1.15" the loads don't pass the plunk and spin test. The powder is not compressed but the bottom of the bullet is very close to the powder. Should I be worried? I haven't shot or chronographed any yet. What should I expect?

    Thanks for any info.

  8. I don't know anything about IDPA, but mag wells are not legal in Production.

Ah crap! That's a sweet looking mag well to. I guess I'll stick with no mag well.

Thanks for the info as usual.

  9. I have a CZ UB mag well which works with standard mags:_20140723_172239_zps2bfdc860.jpg

So can that be used in both production and IDPA? Where di you get it? I tried to order one on my SP01 from Stuart at CZC and he said they were redesigning theirs at the moment and wheren't available right now.

    Thanks,

  10. I was very unfamiliar with CZ's myself and I shot a friends CZC SP01 all tricked out. The next day I called Stuart at CZ Custom and spent about 40 minutes on the phone with him. The gun is awesome. I'd love to compare SP01's from the other guys just to see. Good luck with who ever you go with. I'm sure you won't be disapointed.
