I snake my barrel after every match. I do a complete cleaning every few months or so.

Does your 40 STI have a fully supported barrel?

Not really. The reduced size seems nice, but pretty unnoticeable once you're actually shooting. Velocity loss is almost negligible. Making it legal is kind of a pain, especially if you like trying out different brakes.
But really I don't like mid length gas till I get down to 13.7" barrels. Anything longer I want intermediate, till 16", then intermediate is minimum gas length and rifle gas is preferred. I've got a 15" intermediate and a 14.8" rifle gas and they are both way nicer to shoot than my three 14.5" mid gas barrels.
My next barrel project will be a 17" rifle +1" gas and then probably a 14" intermediate after that.
Thanks!
It was something I was thinking about because I never had one. To make things worst I would have to get a muzzle devise welded, pinned to make it to 16"

Not always the case, depending how you define winning.
I did the math once on a local IDPA match and the shooter who finished last could of had a better finish by drawing firing one shot and stopping. He wouldn't of been last, which could be a win for him.
I didn't do the math but maybe I'll try an experiment at my next match with the Texas Star. Normally the Texas Star in on one of our longer course of fires. I'll fire five rounds in under s second at the TS and move on. Just want to see where I end up in that stage?

Yes.
Besides size is there any advantages over a 16" mid length?

Speed when you're young.
Accuracy when you're old
These days I'll take a slow hit(A) over a fast miss(M) anytime.

What I did to one of my sons AR's
I didn't tell him

Anyone try a 14.5" or 14.7" with a mid-length gas system?
-
Yes! and I finished loading everything I had.

Another reason I liked the Taccom, it's loud. I was getting way to many reshoots because the timer wasn't picking up the shots for one reason or another.

Be careful and watch out for the doubles, triples ect....

I shoot both the FS & A1
Both has the G conversion safety and the Langdon/Wilson goodies. Thought about the X but passed. Both the FS & A1 serve me well.

Bending the center finger of the sear spring forward slightly may help for starters.

Wow, with ammo coming back I'd figure primer's would be also.
Seems like this one is lasting longer than the other shortages/panic buys from decades back.

Dam what a nightmare! I wish I never seen this thread. I've got so used too using my reaction rod or upper receiver clamshell blocks(PCC) to change out my muzzle devices. I never thought about the barrel unscrewing from the extension. I'll be dusting off my barrel blocks when I get home.

Thanks guys, you gave me a lot more to think about. Hummm

Some of the opinions here lead me to believe that several people commenting on this thread have never even read the rulebook, let alone get trained and certified on it.
LOL, I have but not since they stopped mailing out the paper rule books. Anyone remember Dave & Marilyn Standford? They were my instructors.

I overheard our PCC guys talking about this brass. "Avoid it! The brass will crack in half leaving the front section stuck in the chamber"

I would say yes but only IF the targets were wide open from between the shooting boxes and obscured from the shooting boxes(Area). Un-sportsmanship conduct?

Any type of muzzle device aid in precision shooting? Not necessarily for speed but accuracy/group size. Target shooting, Hunting ect.

Good movie! but reminded me of Dances with Wolves.

Did you check the ejector pin for binding? Is it moving freely?
