The ability to drive the gun agressively with your offhand well out on the hanguard is an advantage in recoil control and transitions.

In both PCC and in 3-Gun you never see an SBR finishing in the top 10 at a high level match.

The reason isn’t because no one wants to spend $200. We love spending $200-500 on parts to gain a percieved advantage. We do it all the time.

It doesn't matter what barrel length a top shooter is running he will almost always be at the top of the pack. I do agree that a really short barrel can be as much of a disadvantage as an advantage if you cannot get your support hand out enough to be effective with transitions, but you don't need a 14.5 or 16 in barrel to accomplish that. 10-12 in of handguard is enough real estate to accomplish that with most people. Stretching your support arm out fully and locking your elbow isn't the most effective way for me to swing the gun either.

As for no shooters in 3 Gun or USPSA that run SBR's placing well in major matches. Derek Giddings says hello. 😂

When they tell me I have to wear a cover garment, when shooting PCC, I think that’s just silly.:o

I don't shoot IDPA but I was reading along for interest and looked up the PCC rules. Does this rule not apply or are there matches that just make up their own rules?

1.1.6 Concealment garments: Concealment garments are optional for PCC shooters.

File the 5320 once at the beginning of the year for any state you think you may travel to.  It’s really not that hard.

Payjng for a stamp does suck. Seeing all the reactions to them makes it worth it.

And no uspsa shouldnt allow pistol

    braces.

Completing a 5320.20 is a little more detailed than just listing a state you are traveling to, the address of a location must be entered. I always use the range address and use 1 year for the time frame. Like you said complete it at the beginning of the year and you are done. They now also accept fax and email 5320 applications. My experience on turnaround is less than 2 weeks so it does take a little planning to accomplish if you are adding a new location you haven't traveled to before.

  4. I moved recently and lost my dedicated room. I have been banished to the garage now but I made it work the best I can.

This is my only work area now for everything.

I think I need to try a different jhp that I can load longer and still work in my barrels chamber.

The chamber on your barrel may need throated if jacketed bullets have to be run short to fit. It is a pretty common problem with PCC barrels.

Yes. Colt mag lowers don't have the gap from front of magazine to chamber (I'm told)

They do have a gap between the mag and chamber but they also all have a built in feed ramp to fill that gap.

Every colt mag fed PCC I have used would feed JHP's. In fact I run 125gr Zero JHP bullets in major matches.

  7. Get a G35 MOS and convert it to 9mm, it will give you lots of flexibility. You could use it in 9mm for 3 gun in an irons or optics division or add a dot and shoot open. It would also fit into production, carry optics and limited (minor or major) in USPSA. You are correct all you need to convert a 35 to 9mm is a barrel and mags.

  8. You can pull a few cases off the press after the sizing station and drop it into your gage to check it. If you do this at the beginning of a loading session and your die is locked down well then everything else loaded should be good. If you are only concerned with bulged cases getting sized down correctly size a few of those down and check them against your gage.

Using a U type die and setting the press to cam over at the end of the stroke will help your problem a lot.

How many of you are not running the hood to save the weight?

The hood and 4 screws are 1.2 oz. I think I will run it for now

I took the hood off of mine when I had it on my PCC and it does give a cleaner sight picture. I ended up pulling 510c off and going back to my C-More as it wasn't tall enough for my liking, even with the riser installed.

  10. I run everything through a hundo gage. While in the gage I check for high primers and anything that may stick out as an unusual length. The hundo has caught every cracked case I have had with loaded ammo. Anything that is suspect in the gage gets put in a separate container for practice only ammo.  If it passes the gage it will pass the plunk test in my barrel, simple as that.

  11. My bolt and upper get cleaned about every 500 rds. The barrel and lower get cleaned a couple times each year. When you clean the bolt don't neglect the extractor, pull it and clean the channel also. My basic routine is;

    - blast everything down with non chlorinated brake cleaner and blow out with compressed air

    - detail clean with a brush, pick or tip as needed

    - coat everything with silicone spray and remove excess.

Someone tried in Guard Taccom adjustable buffer ? THX

I have tried a lot of different buffer combinations including the taccom. Using the taccom buffer system with a carbine buffer tube and short stroke additions will not work, the stroke is to short to pick a round from the mag. It would work with an A5 or rifle buffer tube but it  created more dot movement than some of the other buffers combinations I used.

26 oz total, it is a lot of weight. I’ve tried a lot of different buffers/spring combos with/without bcg weights, wave springs, different sized spacers( preloading main spring and not). This is by far the best combo I’ve tried. Working transitions today 3 uspsa targets 1 yard apart 10 yards 2 shots per target. my fastest with bcg weight, blitzkrieg weight 5015 and jp rifle was fastest was 1.91, average was 2.06 giving .5 seconds non a. Out of 15 runs with each gun I had 4 c 0 d and 0 m. Also tried 5015 red sprinco 1/2 delrin spacer, wave spring fastest was 2.08 average 2.18 had 8c 0d 0m. Call Brian he can explain the reason behind it but 22-26 oz is what he said was ideal. It’s not sluggish and my dot doesn’t move at all I can still get .12-.14 splits.

Wouldn't a doubles drill be a better assessment of dot movement instead of throwing transitions into the mix?

I use a weighted bcg, blitzkrieg weight in front of the 5015 buffer in a jp 308 rifle spring. If I remember correctly from my conversation with Brian the weight is the keep the buffer more stable, short stoke and add lock up time forcing more gas down the barrel.

That sure seems like a lot of weight flopping around to disrupt dot movement. What is your total reciprocal mass, like 24 oz.+?
