  1. thanks trgt. I have heard mixed reviews on this resetting trigger. Have you used it? Its probably not that critical as long as you have the right mix of dry and live fire practice. My challenge is that most live fire is either in a match or at an indoor range in a shooting stall.....so transitions are tough to practice

  2. I have a Nighthawk Custom Talon. When Hammer is down the trigger has a little travel - maybe an 1/8th inch. When the hammer is cocked, it has that same travel and breaks immediately at the end of that travel. When I hold the hammer all the way back it feels exactly like when the hammer is down.

This gun is barely a week old. My other gun is a Glock 34. With my Glock, I have been trying to figure out how to reset for multiple shots but I dont think it matters for the NightHawk. The trigger just seems perfect. Hahah. I may be missing something on this trick - but it doesn't seem to change the feel of pulling on the trigger

  3. yeah was thinking about that - not set up for reloading although I hope to get that going this year. Also - I have a lot of magazines for 9mm. It would be nice to not have to segregate ammo and magazines etc - then my son and I would be abel to share some stuff......

but it would be nice to get the bigger hole!

  4. I have a G34 I use to compete in IDPA. I bought my sone a G17 but he likes to shoot my 34 better. And I would like to be able to shoot in USPSA limited with a 40 cal.

So......was thinking of buying a G35 and a conversion barrel. Setting it up to run in USPSA as Limited - magwell, heavier guiderod etc and then being able to swap out barrel take off magwell and guide rod to make it IDPA legal.

Any thoughts? Has anyone used a conversion barrell like this? Are they reliable and accurate? Would it be worth it to get a gunsmith to fit the barrells for a little extra accuracy?

  5. why do people get hung up about shooting IDPA with other than Carry equipment? I like to shoot action events - it is more fun than..... well it is fun. I get that IDPA has a lot of rules that are in place to make the competition based on defensive scenarios....but come on, it is still a competition. IDPA is a lot more prevalent where I live so its really the only option.

So let me spend my money on fast holsters, and whatever else so I can pretend I am a delta force ninja assasin when I compete....and quit griping about it not being realistic. Thats like complaining about something in Star trek not being realistic.....hello they are in a space ship traveling at light speed - we suspended reality as soon as we turned the show on....

  6. SwatCop - you make a great point. I was in the Army for a bit and I get tactics as well as most.... but this is just a game for me. A way to get out and hang out with my kiddos and blow some shit up you know. So I am gonna game it as much as I can! If everyone else gets a re-shoot, ill take one if i think it will help me......

  7. yeah - you get a re-shoot in the clasifier so, it speeds things up until it slows things down!

Lester - didnt load any with three. Look at each of the strings in the classifier and walk them through in your head with the round counts I described and it will work out perfectly for the slide lock reloads. You just need an extra round or two in stage three cause you have to do the "loaded chamber reload"

  8. Oh - and if I ever run a classifier, I will make a big announcement to bring lots of magazines! For SSP I loaded 9, 12, 9, 12, 6, 12, 14, 14, 6 and blasted through the thing. I SO's a guy that was taking long time and ended up having to do a re-shoot and I had him load his mags the same way and he went through way faster. I know some think it is a little loose with rules to load over capacity but classifiers take way too long....

  9. I feel like I can shoot quite a bit faster - it just didnt happen today so I have some things to work on for sure.... But to be honest and I forgot to mention this...my 14 year old shot and I had more fun SO'ing him (this was also my first time SO'ing after getting certified back in December).

He hasnt even looked at a pistol in 2.5 months and he was awesome. He was down 9 in stage 1 and 16 in stage 2. Unfortunately stage 3 wasnt kind to him. But dude was shooting lights out for the first two stages....He is a Marksman and a good son:)

  10. I shot horrible...I had a raw time in SSP of 99 seconds and ended up with a 130 i think...if my math is right which is SharpShooter. I felt really slow and lethargic.....but at least I finally got to shoot a classifier.

I also shot CDP - I just got my first 1911 and borrowed someones holster and mag pouches. Marksman.

So my ego is a bit deflated but that is a good place to start. And I have really good idea of things to work on!!!
