  1. Shot a match at an indoor range today and had several times where the slide didnt lock back - it has happened before but seemed to happen more today. The pistol is a Gen 4 Glock 34 and I replaced the extended slide release with a normal slide release to reduce the frequency of this...

I am guessing I need to change my grip up a bit.

Can anyone describe a grip solution?

  2. He mentioned bad breath several times. I think he likes having good hygiene and organizing little boxes of things.

I also don't think he needed to disguise it as altoid tin. If anyone realized what it really was they would never steal it.

  3. If you are asking what the numbers mean? ES is just the highest velocity minus the lowest velocity. It is the extreme spread. Your chrono may or may not eliminate outlier velocities when calculating this.

The sd is a way to describe the variance of velocity from one round to another. In other words if you took the average you have a certain confidence that 68% of your rounds velocities will fall withing the average plus or minus the SD. And 95% withing plus or minus the average plus or minus 2 SD.

So 936 is average. 95% of your rounds will be between 922 and 950 fps. So you will rarely have rounds below 135 PF.

  4. The shorter the string you are shooting the more important the draw time is in overall time. For example if you draw and shoot in 1.25 seconds and your splits are .25 seconds the draw is 5/6ths of the total time. if you add 3 more splits for 5 rounds the draw time is only 5/9ths....I dont have calculator so couldnt convert to %:) If your splits are slower than that then the effect is exagerated even more. So I totally expect the 17 to be faster out of the holster but I would bet in a blind test (haha) you wouldnt see time differences outside of the draw. You may or may not see accuracy differences.

  5. Just got a new Zev Tec trigger. It is the IDPA legal trigger. When I installed it I wasn't impressed. So i started looking at it. The cruciform doesnt rest on the "ledge" on the right side of the trigger housing which I think is part of the drop safety. Or said another way - when I push the trigger bar forward until it locks forward It doesnt move much and doesnt move far enough to be supported by the housing. So with it locked into that position, I can push down on the cruciform. On my other triggers that isnt possible.

    Any thoughts?

  6. I hear plenty of people on another forum talk about Glock perfection and they think it is absurd to change anything that St Glock hath created. But the sights are not worth anything and the trigger is pretty horrible. These are of course my opinions an therefore mean very little....

My son has a stock G17 - but his scores are significantly better when he shoots my 34 so I am in process of ordering sights and trigger for the 17....unless I decide to buy a 35......

  7. I am planning to get into reloading this year. And thought If I could cast some portion of my bullets I could lower overall costs per round. So I went by the WM Tire and Lube and asked for the wheel weights. They said they couldn't give them to me and they weren't lead anymore anyway....

So...Where do you get scrap lead for casting?
