I've fired about 4,000 rounds of S&B ammo through my G17 (most of them were the 115 FMJ) with zero problems. The most accurate of them all (115 grs FMJ, 124 grs. FMJ Nontox, 124 grs. SP, 140 grs. FMJ Subsonic) were the 124 grs. soft-points, which were also the most pleasant to shoot for me. Good stuff at a decent price.

I voted yes. Not that the pics change anything or say much about the future operation of the gun, but it's a nice touch added to show the gunsmith cares about me as a customer and that I'm not just another guy getting a gun built from him (even if it were the case )

Yup, it's basically the same gun, I think the factory just fell in love with the word "Tactical" Although they talk about minor modifications to the design, I haven't heard them specify the mods at all. Even one of the factory shooters who did the promo video (dial-up warning: over 12 MB) didn't know anything about them. What I hate about the pistol is that they knocked off some $$$ by using fixed sights from hell (JMHO). They also increased the mag capacity, but I've heard of and seen many problems with the mags on the 9mm version. Haven't heard of any with the .40. But the CZ IPSC and its successor the TS are a great option for Standard. They're plenty accurate and reliable and as Carols pointed out, the trigger is just wonderful. If you do your part, the gun won't hold you back and you will definitely be competitive, Powerman. Actually, with regard to your previous post about BUL vs. Tanfo, this guy I know had a BUL (the frame cracked after a few thousand rounds), a Tanfoglio (reliability problems) and now he's as happy as can be with the Standard IPSC for almost a year.

Thanks for the explanation, Alex. I was wondering about the same thing as Pierruiggi. Does anyone know if that can be somehow translated into dioptres? Or are we talking two separate values? Another question: How long after the surgery did you guys need to really get back to normal life, I mean sit at the computer for 8+ hours a day etc.?

Just a thought here...I wonder if Team CZ is gonna bring their rather recent acquisition Adam Tyc to the US Nats to challenge David S. He won the last Europeans as well as the AustralAsian Championship - both of them ahead of Angus H. IMHO this guy is the most serious threat to David S. and I can't wait to find out how they do at the WS.

It's the X-FIVE, right?. A Swedish friend of mine has had one in 9mm for about two months now and speaks nothing but praise of it. Yup, waktasz is right - it holds 14 rounds of .40 s&w in the standard mag. More info here

I'm a step behind you - I just had a tritium front sight put on my G17. I was pondering on the same question - whether to get the tool or do it on my own. Then I decided that instead of buying a tool I'd only use once in a decade or screwing the installation up by using the incorrect tools I'd let someone else make about the same money that I'd pay for the tool, and I had the front sight installed by a person who actually knows what he's doing.
