  1. I think the two mods that will benefit you the most are trigger and sights. The Zev trigger you have, is it the ultimate? The one with the lightweight striker included? Dawson precision are by FAR my favorite sights for the Glock but theres many good ones out there and it probably just comes down to preference. Theres a lot more you can do thats not necessary but still nice to have. It's kind of just up to you as far as how much you want to put into it. I recently invested in a heavy brass magwell and i think the added weight to the Glock gives it a much better feel. Also, you could try a stainless guide rod and a few different recoil springs to see which you like best. Have fun with it.

  2. WOW- your better than the average Joe.

Me- I would have sent it all back and started from

    the beginning  .

    Lazy mans way-

    Glad it worked out-

I am the average joe, lol. But i wanted it to work, and i felt confident about it, and i may have got a little lucky.

  3. FYI,blade steel of a knife is +-60 rockwell hardness. 6Al 4v Titanium has a rockwell of approximately 40, unless it's been heat hardened.

Yah, i really know nothing about what that means. I tried to wikipedia i was having trouble understanding it. I assumed because Glockworx listed it they wanted you to be impressed by the numbers or something. So i just assumed it was really hard. I didn't have that much trouble with it.

Edit: I went back to their website and they actually have the stainless steel model listed at (60 rockwell hardness).

Any idea where brass would fall in that scale?

  4. Lmao, I made out well. Although my impatience and absolute determination to make things work overrode my ability to wait until monday to call them. Basically i looked at every picture of the Gen 3 and Gen 4 magwell i could find and i came to the conclusion that they sent me the wrong gen magwell. The brass insert i got was correct and went up into the frame nicely. The hole in the magwell was too small and obviously made for a different insert screw. I just kept looking at it and i knew i could make this work. The gen 3 frame is the same same as a gen 4 with a medium back strap. I took an Xacto knife and cut the very bottom of the medium back strap off (the part that clips into the bottom of the frame) i then pushed the frame with the backstrap into the magwell. It actually fit on so snug that i was able to run a few hundred rounds through the gun without the magwell screw and the magwell didn't budge. I just wanted to see how the weight felt on the gun because if i was going to be sending it back that was my opportunity to get a different weight. I absolutely loved the weight of the brass mag/ brass insert. It made shooting that gun so much better.

At that point i realized this thing is awesome i'm not sending it back. So that night i went to work on it figuring out how to open the hole to accept the back strap screw that i already have. It was actually very difficult because the screw is meant to be recessed up into the magwell. So that meant drilling one size hole, then another on top of it for the head of the screw to sit down into. My only concern from the beginning was if the brass and their (60 rockwell hardness) was going to eat up my bit. I used a drill bit on my dremel tool at pretty high speed and just slowly, very slowly worked my way into expanding the hole.

I'm really happy with it, it's on there as tight as it could be and you can't notice AT ALL that i had to make any modification to it. Plus i'm able to use the medium back strap with it which i prefer. Part of the reason i didn't really want to send it back is i'm going to be moving in the next few days and i honestly didn't want to take the chance of them shipping it back to the wrong address. Anyway, It all worked out and i couldn't be happier with it. I'll definitely be ordering another in the future regardless of the mistake. I definitely think they're the best looking magwell made for the Glock.

  5. Hi everyone, I want to say thanks for all the great advice and suggestions. Yesterday my search ended when I saw the SV Infinity posted in the classifieds section of the forums. The infinity was already a gun I had in the back of my mind and after a couple of quick pms with the owner it all fell together perfectly. I wanted to build a custom gun so that it would be exactly what I wanted, but after doing some research, the SV Infinity seems to fit exactly what I was after to begin with. Being that I am still growing in this sport, I'm certain the gun will be better than I am for quite a while but I am looking forward to following her through a course fire and letting her tell me what i'm doing wrong lol Thanks again guys, all of your opinions are much appreciated!

Any idea on how long it will take them to build it?

  6. I don't dry fire with standard uspsa targets but i have 8, 7 inch bullseye targets taped up between the kitchen and living room. I like to practice transitioning and dry firing at different distances. The X ring in the center is about an inch and i always aim for that. These are the same targets i use when i go to the range and i definitely believe it makes me a better shooter. Just like everyone says aim small miss small.

  7. I like them both but i think the Gen 4 win's in my opinion. Mainly because of the more textured grip and back strap. I'm not a fan of the dual recoil assembly so i usually replace that with an adapater. Also, i filed off the trigger bar bump that the gen 4's have. Contrary to what some people say, that little bump does make the trigger pull heavier. I shot a few 1000 rounds out of the gun, then one night decided to take the bump off. The difference was noticed immediately. The only reason i would buy a Gen 3 is to be able to get an aftermarket slide for it. I'v been itching to get a 17L but they're hard to find so i was thinking about just getting a used 17 and buying the long slide for it. I doubt you'll have any issues with the gun but if you do i don't think there is anything one couldn't fix themself.

  8. I'v worked ever single holiday, literally EVERY single holiday for the last 3 years. I don't really mind that much because i'm a server and usually make more on holidays because i think people feel bad for us or something. Oh well.

  9. G17, could you provide some pics of where the washer is located that you use to get rid of some pre and over travel. I still can't picture it in my mind. I have the Vanek classic grand master in my 34 gen4, I have adjusted the pre travel as far as I can but there is still about 1/4 or so of pretravel. I am happy with the overtravel.

I dont know about you but my tools are somewhat limited so its easier finding a washer that is as close as possible to the height of that area you want to fit it in. Ultimately it has to be pretty small and its hard to cut it so i spent a lot of time filing. Just worry about fitting it in there first then spend the time to file it back. Just take tiny bits off at a time. It's time consuming but you'll finally put the gun back together and you'll be like Eureka that's perfect.

Go to #15, it should be similar to removing take up, but at the other end.

Hah, thanks. I would have posted the same link.

  11. Other then the obvious facts of titanium being more brittle and it wearing out quicker then SS parts (which they recommend replacing after 10k rounds, btw) can anyone attest to if they felt any reduction in lock time or if it changed the trigger pull for the better?

"The 1 millisecond difference in lock time basically means that if you actuate guns with the original and lightweight strikers simultaneously, the bullet is already out of the muzzle with the lightweight striker while the original striker is just coming in contact with the primer."

I'm just curious to see if anyone was actually happy with the way it felt in the gun before it broke or chipped or whatever.

  12. I still like the idea of a plastic washer in the stock unit. I mean it covers the entire surface area, less friction. Less adjustability, but once you get it where you want it no need to change. I have mine at the perfect point where almost all of the overtravel is taken out and 100 percent reliability. Thousands of rounds and the washer hasn't moved. Idk i prefer to save my were possible. Your basically paying 25 bucks for a screw. That's an expensive screw.

  13. The only reason i didn't try lightning strikes titanium striker was because they don't use an extended tip. The whole point behind me getting one was to reduce light strikes. Idk maybe the fact that the titanium one being lighter and able to move faster eliminates the need for an extended tip. I'm sure it doesn't last as long but i really would like to try one someday just to see how it feels. The Jager and Zev striker really aren't that much lighter then the stock striker but the titanium one is significantly lighter. If you already have a Zev striker i wouldn't drop another 100 bucks on a titanium one though. I'v read a bunch of reviews on it and just didn't see what i was looking for.

  14. Talon grip is a nice pre cut piece of grip tape

I tried the Talon and i like the cut and initially it seemed good but on my gen 4 i just don't think there was enough surface area to stick to because it constantly rolled all over the place. I would imagine it would work a lot better on a gen 3. Thinking about trying it again though.
