  1. I found a LW barrel in the classifieds. Thinking about buying it and then ordering a carver customs 4 port for it. My question: I heard something about the threading on LW barrels being further back and more suitable for a suppressor. The carver comp i'll order is threaded to fit the LW barrel but do you think i'm going to have any issues with it fitting properly. I'v never used a comp before. Is there supposed to be any space between the back of the comp and the slide, or should it go right up against it? I just don't want to waste my money if it's ultimately going to be an improper fit.

  2. I can't find any model 17 threaded barrels in stock anywhere. I was thinking about ordering a KKM straight from their website, and they have the option to chose the barrel/comp combo but it doesn't show what the comp looks like or even give any info about it. Has anyone tried one of these KKM comps from their site or know anything at all about them?

  3. Hey guys, i'm interested in trying out a compensator on my gen 4 17. I understand a comp is probably better suited for a high pressure round like .40 but i'd really like to try one out regardless. I'm not worried about the money. I was thinking about getting one from carver customs like maybe the 3 or 4 port, or possibly the one from Jager although it's questionable because it looks like its way more ported then i want to go. I generally only shoot your basic target ammo right now, but am working on obtaining my reload equipment so in the near future should be turning out some hotter loads. Anyways, i just wanted to see what it would do, if anything. Very least it will look cool. Also, does anyone know where i can find a lonewolf or kkm threaded barrel in stock for a 17. It's seems like literally every online store i check out are all out of stock. I appreciate any advice. Thanks guys.

  4. Dude, that sucks horribly. I would be pissed that they would screw with my product like that. Does the mag come altered like that from the Glock factory or is it something your shop has to do to be able to sell the pistol? Either way, ridiculous. I would just order the mags you want online. What are they really going to do? I'm sure there is tons of competitors in ca that use high cap mags.

  5. With Glocks, it's good practice to do this as you want to release the trigger just enough for it to reset. You don't need to release the trigger all the way before you can fire the next round.

Is this the same trigger feel as live fire? I've never done it this way.

yes it is. After you fire the round just slowly release the trigger until you fill the click of it resetting. it's no different then when you dry fire. To the OP, it's hard to tell whether it's normal without seeing your pistol first hand. The tolerances on Glock's are night as tight as other higher end pistols. I'v owned 5-6 different glock's a few of the same model and i could tell minor, minor differences in wiggle room on some of the parts. I would say most likely that it's allright. If your gut is telling you it shouldn't be like that then take it to a shop and have someone look at it.

Just a tip. If you use dummy rounds, to save you time from having to eject and pick them up after each dry fire, after you dry fire, keep your finger on the trigger and pull the slide back just half an inch or so. It doesn't have to go back far to reset the trigger and it won't eject the dummy round. So you can essentially just keep one dummy round in the chamber and keep resetting it.

  6. I have the Dawson adjustables and i absolutely love them but just like everyone else they shoot a few inches high. I have them on a g17 with the .285 front. I don't know how they can recommend that front sight height when literally everyone i know who has these sights shoot high. Great sights though, the quality of them is definately really nice and they certainly look slick on my pistol. I may or may not try and get a taller front sight. I just hold a tad bit low and its all gravy.

Also, have a jager stainless rod with 13# ismi, zev spring kit, zev tit plunger. Only other things i really want to do is get the Zev Fulcrum Trigger bar/housing..Zev firing pin, and a KKM barrel and my little hunnies good to go. After that i'll start working on getting another gun. I'd like to try and find a 17longslide and build up an open gun.

  7. Welcome to the forum. Where are you shooting? I'm a member at Volusia Gun and Hunt. Lots of great info here.

Hi! I'm sorry, i didn't see any replies to this thread after the first couple days so i forgot to check. I mainly shoot at a little indoor range in holly hill called "Hot shot". I love it there, i know everyone well and it's kind of like my hang out. I haven't been shooting long, but i'v been going there since day 1 and they taught me a lot. Strickland is closed for renovations i believe, and i haven't become a member of Vol gun and hunt club yet, but i will soon. I plan on making it to my first uspsa match there coming up on the 28th of this month.

  8. I know that this is probably a silly question, i'm still trying to learn as much as i can before i do my first match at the end of the month. I just want to be prepared. I have a Glock 19 and a Glock 17. I'm much more comfortable shooting the 19 so i plan on using that in the production division. I have 3 G19 mags and 3 G17 mags. Am i allowed to use the 17 mags in my 19 while shooting production? I have a lot of money going out for bills this month and still need ammo, a holster, mag pouches, a belt etc to get ready for the match so if i don't have to buy more 19 mags it would be a plus.

Also, How many mag pouches do you recommend i buy, and how many mags should a beginner have on his person for his first match?

    Thank you for your time.

  9. I'm sorry to hear about your DQ, but because of this thread and reading peoples experiences i have better awareness of what to do and what not to do when i participate in my first match at the end of the month. I'm so excited about it, it can't come soon enough.

  10. Well, I really don't see what all of the fuss about 1911 is about. I'll take a Glock over a 1911 anyday. If you're that unhappy with it, feel free to send it to me. I'll even pay for shipping. Then when it arrives, i'll give it it's own comfy pillow to rest upon, right next to my other Glocks.

  11. I have a 4# striker spring in my 17 as well as the rest of zev's spring kit. Using Winchester white box i would get maybe 3-4 light primer strikes out of 100. I used this crappy Wolf polyformance, and literally every other round was a light primer strike. I was getting so frustrated. I tried CCI Blazer brass and so far out of the 1000 rounds i'v shot of it i haven't had one FTF. I'm still using the stock striker spring but plan on going with Zev's ext striker spring, mainly because i have most Zev parts in my gun and don't like to mix and match companies, lol. I'm hoping that will make things a little more consistant as i don't want to have to rely on a specific ammo for my pistol to function reliably.

  12. I'm kind of dissapointed with Zev's titanium plunger, also. I field stripped the gun, and after only 150 rounds i could see little gold speckles all around the back of the slide. That titanium coating must be crap because it all seemed to have worn off after one range session. The plunger just looks like garbage now. Kind of sucks spending 30 bucks on a tiny little part like that and have it destroy itself in a day.

  13. Shooting is probably the only time in my life that having a lazy eye has helped me, lol. I am generally only ABLE to shoot with both eyes open, as squinting one eye seems like a pain in the butt. See, my left eye is lazy and my eyes don't like to work as a team. When i bring the sights up my left eye slants off to the left a little, and it's like everything i'm seeing is funneled through my right eye. When your eyes stop working as a team your brain puts the focus on one eye, until they come back together. The benefit of my crappy lazy eye is i never get any type of double vision, i can focus very clear while being comfortable, and i still have the use of my peripheral vision because both eyes are still open. And it's not something i have to make happen, when the sights come up, my googly eye goes out!

  14. Hi there, my name is Chris and i'm from Daytona Beach, FL. I was speaking with the match director of one of the USPSA matches in my area. He was basically giving me the scoop on what to expect, what to bring, etc etc so i can be prepared and have a better experience for my first match. He recommended this forum and said i can get a lot of good information on here. So here i am. I look forward to browsing the forums and learning as much from everyone as i can. I'm relatively new to the sport. I haven't done my first match yet but i have been shooting for the last year and go to the range at least twice a week. I shoot Glock pistols. My first pistol was a Glock, i'v shot a variety of manufacturers since then but still find myself going back. Well, that's about it. Good to be here, hope to learn a lot.
