  1. Hello all and Happy Holidays, I see that Dawson Precision is selling aluminium shock buffs and have'nt heard of them before. Are they in use by many shooters and do they work or is this a gadget for your gun? Danva
  2. sorry to hear about your family's loss It is always hard to lose a friend no matter the circumstances good luck to all and take comfort from the other dogs -- they understand
  3. Montana Golds they work well in both our limited guns
  4. get an undersize die from EGW and use One Shot lube on the cases I have a 550 and not problems with once fired brass Dan C
  5. Would it be okay to drop the power factor in my wifes PARA with VV320 & a 180gr bullet seated out to 1.120"? Is the powder not good for lighter loads or will it be okay down to a 140 - 145pf? Would clays be better? I can not shorten the bullet length to much or it won't feed. It was suggested that she shoot minor loads for a while to get used to the recoil and stop pushing the gun in anticapation. Thanks all Danva PS. good to be able to put faces to some of the names I have met here. Great AREA 8
  6. Hello All, Are the same dies used for Super Comp as for Super? We are looking at open and Super Comp has been reccomended often for the Caliber/Chamber. We have been told that while some guns will feed all three or some of the three dies in the press may not. Any truth to this?
  7. Thanks to everyone for the responses. I didn't think it would affect the loaded rounds. I shot some this afternoon and could tell any difference from the previous ones that I loaded except for press effort.
  8. I am using once fired brass with a "U" die. The brass is bulged near the base and is stiff to run through the resizing die. Works great after that in the case gauge and in the guns(STI and Para). With a little spray of One Shot case lube the effort is almost to zero to run through the resizer. I have not had any problems with case lube on rifle cases so would there be any reasons to not use it sparingly on pistol cases?
  9. I am loading 223 using Dillon case lube. Should the loaded cases have the lube removed from them? Will it help or hurt(attract dirt) to leave them with lube remaining on them from the loading process? Thanks
  10. I have a couple of Grams tuned mag and getting 20 rounds in them is no problem. Haven't noticed any problems reloading and they work ALL THE TIME!!!!
  11. I was looking in the Brownells catalog and could only find the carrier assembly listed under 12 & 12 mag 1100. would this be the correct one for 3"? Also, who would be good at doing a tune up(action & trigger) on a stock 1100? Dan
  12. I have been using a EGW undersized die for quite a while and have had no brass related problems using large quanities of once fired 40's much cheaper than the case-pro
  13. Thanks for the help! We hope to shoot it this weekend again thanks all
  14. my wife and I are thinking about getting an open gun for her to shoot. Someone we know has a 9x23 for sale. Is this a good round to start into open with or would we be better off looking at 38supers or something else? I will handload for it so that is a consideration also. The gun is a STI frame and seems solid and reliable. I don't know much about the 9x23 round except for what I have read here. Thanks for any info and opinions Dan
  15. I am using a 12.5# recoil spring in my STI and I'm getting very little buff wear. I have checked to see if the spring compresses on the guide all the way and it does. I am using the blue Wlison buffs. I am thinking of trying a 11# spring Should I expect to feel/see anything different by dropping a pound on the spring? Also, who sells the Hiett buffs?
  16. I am teaching myself to shoot with both eyes open. I was using the tape over the left eye but have just tried what is called "Magic Dots". They are reusable opaque circles about the size of a dime. They seem to not interfere with my vision as much as tape does. I am getting better about using both eyes but if it is a tight shot or I start pressuring myself I will close my left eye. Long road but getting easier. http://www.Decot.com for the dots
