Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I finally found some time to load up some of my first 223 rounds. Here is how I have my setup on my 650 Prep Tool Head: 1. Size/decap die 4. Rt1200 (just trim) Load Tool Head: 1. Decap to clear any debris 2. powder 4. Seat 5. crimp (backed off no crimp, but still in the slot) Here are my first loads Trimmed everything to 1.750" FC brass (i know its junk but its what I have the most of right now) CCI #400 Hornady 50gr V-Max 24gr, 24.1, & 24.3 of H-335 2.235" OAL I was going to load up a few different batches but I was an idiot and got my expander ball stuck in a neck and couldnt get it out which ended my loading session I have solely loaded 9mm prior to this so these are my first rifle rounds I know that these loads are going to be on the light end, from what I have gathered from load data. I pulled my firing pin and extractor and check a few cases prior to see if I had any sizing issues, which i did not. am I missing anything? I checked every round in these batches in my case guage and all came back passing. Powder is spot on, all lengths are good, primers are all seated properly any thoughts? I am also open to any opinions on improving my loading sequence as I know there are lots of different ways out there as far as the RT1200 setup goes thanks! //Austin
  2. Thanks for the advice guys! Yeah I wont be shooting anymore without a chrono, which I am going to hopefully have at my door by this weekend to go shooting! I picked up some CCI SP's last night as well as a bullet puller. I hadnt loaded a super large batch of my originals so it wont be a huge hassle to tear them down. I will report back with velocitys and hopefully a much more solid load!
  3. At the time of loading these it was all that I was able to get my hands on. I don't plan on using them on future loads Good info! Thank you for that.. Hadn't read that before on the srps. Yeah I will pick up a chrono before I shoot the rest of them Thanks for the info guys
  4. That is one thing I wasn't able to track :/. I didn't have access to the one I know of so that's on the agenda for next time I understand that without that it is hard to accurately get an answer?
  5. Hello! So I FINALLY got around to shooting my reloads I made quite some time ago. Life just was super busy.. Wedding.. Honeymoon.. New job.. Toddler.. Baby on the way.. Haha Specs: 115gn rn from Ranier Titegroup 4.3gn CCI small rifle primers I shot them from my USP I shot 55 rounds at 15' and 25'. Accuracy was spot on.. Only time it was off was user error and not the bullets fault I did have 1 not rack the slide back and 1 failure to eject that got stuck (not jam stuck just didn't pop out). The one that didn't rack the slide sounded like it didn't leave the barrel. I saw it hit paper and nothing in barrel but it barely made any noise when it fired and freaked me out as I didn't think I made a single error in loading them. My casings were slightly popping back and to the right and all went consistently in the same spots. The casings were a bit dirty which I have read can be due to being under powdered? What should I work up to next? Also, at what point do you stop working up? These loads seem to work pretty well minus the two ejection issues and I think the powder may have been a tad lower in both of those Thanks!! //Austin
  6. Natchez has spp.. Only 2 box max tho. With hazmat and their high shipping costs. Ill pass
  7. woo! got an email today about my carbide 223 dies being ready! at just about 19.5 weeks
  8. I feel spoiled.. if i ever have an issue they are 10 minute drive from me
  9. I did the same.. Less than a week and I had a 650 I am going on 19 weeks for 223 dies. Sucks to suck
  10. I installed my washers and bearings to the shell plate. I haven't loaded anything on it yet but I like how it feels so far!
  11. Thanks for the welcome everyone! I've had decent luck with supplies lately. I'm set for a while on powder and 9mm/5.56 projectiles Primers are what I've had a tough time getting. Was easy when I first started. Oh well I am a patient dude Here is the bench I built. Been needing one for forever, dryer and washer don't work well haha, so once I made a trip to Dillon I went straight to HD Only scraps we had! Here is my new press mounted http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn77/Jindar/null_zps6eae8ef3.jpg
  12. Hey everyone! I have been lurking for a bit and figured I'd post up some! I am newish to reloading Started last December with a 550. I recently sold it and wasn't planning on buying another press for a bit but I came across a 650 in 45 and then I picked up a 9mm conversion kit I got it bolted to my bench last night but didn't make much more progress but I will today Look forward to learning more from everyone! I will post up some pics of my bench later
