Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I know IDPA SSP says there can't be any external modifications, which would include this trigger. Not sure if they would notice, however. I'd love to use this but the description doesn't include M9 as far as compatible models. I thought the M9 = 92 as far as the internals go. Maybe they just omitted it by accident?
  2. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be allowed for IDPA SSP. They don't allow any external modifications.
  3. To go a bit further down this rabbit hole... A professional pilot with thousands of hours in type has no problem reading back a landing clearance in difficult landing conditions ( it is in fact required by the FAR's. not doing so at a class B airport will have you in serious hot water!) again the control inputs required occur without any conscious thought, but the lower time pilot is often at task saturation during that same landing... Add that radio call to his task saturated mind and things fall apart. Perhaps the very skilled shooter can tolerate some thought distractions in much the same way, because watching the sights and trigger control happen correctly without conscious thought. When I was getting my PPL, I was so focused on landing during my first solo flight that after I got off the runway, I realized that I was hungry, had to pee & my jaws were sore from clenching my teeth. I've never experienced that level of concentration on a single task in my entire life. God how I wish I had the money to keep flying.

    VZ Beretta grips

Tried that. It was just too awkward. I just got used to shifting my grip and it's become muscle memory now.
  5. So this was my first IDPA match today. Had a blast. Best of all, my slide locked back each time I ran out of ammo. I managed to keep count so it didn't surprise me. Just changing my grip helped.
  6. I got my Beretta M9 a few months ago. I put about 150 rounds through it before I found out how to polish some internal parts for smoother trigger pulls. So I did that & replaced the hammer spring with the D model spring for lighter DA trigger pulls. I now plan on shooting IDPA with this gun. The problem is, the slide doesn’t always lock back. I stupidly decided to polish the part of the slide lock that actually holds it back so releasing the slide is a bit easier. Well even though I only polished it a bit, sometimes the slide just doesn’t lock back. It happens about once every 3-4 mags. It’s a much less frequent occurrence with my 17 round mags so I’ll be using those. I’m probably just going to buy a new slide lock, but the problem is, I’m shooting an IDPA match tomorrow. So I’m wondering if anyone has any advice for this. Edit: I also just thought about the fact that my thumb may be holding down the Slide lock. I'll have to pay attention to that. You know what, just ignore everything I said. I'm gonna go kick myself now.

    VZ Beretta grips

Update: I'd like to start shooting SSP in IDPA matches, so I put the factory grips back on. The gun moves around too much in my hand when I shift grips to release the mag. I'm sure I'd get used to it, but I ended up putting some grip tape on there. It's SOOO much better than the stock grips. http://www.amazon.com/6-Pack-Glock-Grip-Tape-acquisition/dp/B00C7WXTJS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1373564839&sr=8-2&keywords=glock+grip+tape I also put some on the slide over the ridges so I don't accidentally release the slide & have the safety selector hit my hands (which happens from time to time)
  8. Is that a new website? Or a typo in the link? I have the Comp-tac dual mag pouch. Looking for a different one since this one holds onto the mags if I don't pull it strait up. I even have it extremely loose.
  9. to make it a "paddle" holster? *sigh* I'll re-phrase that. Why use the "paddle"? Or, why use a paddle holster?
  10. I just got a Comp-tac holster. What's the paddle for?

    VZ Beretta grips

I put the hogue wrap-around grips on my beretta. Those things are incredibly grippy and don't give me a problem when shifting my grip to reload. In fact, when I tried the gun again with the factory grips, I thought the gun was too slippery. I haven't tried the VZ grips, but I wouldn't worry about them being too grippy.
  12. I have yet to shoot at any match for any type of competitive shooting and I'm really looking forward to my first IDPA match. I'll be following a coworker for the first match that I attend. Can't wait!
  13. Thanks for the help. So my hogue wrap-around grips are allowed?
