  1. I've looked at most of those threads over the past couple months and it generally leaves me confused. RIA makes various models within the same family and the accessories that fit one doesn't work in all of them. That is what has left me leary of buying anything because of the fit issues.

My best bet might be to track down some factory mags with the basepad already on them. They seem to be sold out everywhere.

dawson extension for para will work on your mags, however if you decided to put a magwell (dawson ice para magwell will fit) you will need the para p18 mags that are 18 rounders other wise the 17 rounders mag won't fit with the magwell

  2. Hello: The plastic Tripp base pads can be made to work as well as the Metalform plastic base pads. They will sit almost flush with the magwell. The aluminum Tripp base pads can be made to fit also but it is easier to get the Dawson ones. For me the gap loads just as fast as the no gap. Going to try the Dawson IPSC aluminum magwell next. It has no plastic insert and is a little lighter than the ICE aluminum. Thanks, Eric

    Eric,

have you tried the Dawson IPSC magwell yet? I'm thinking of doing same thing on my current 1911 project, please let me know how it is compare to the regular Ice magwell. Thanks

  3. If you currently shoot Open with a racker, I think it could be beneficial to standardize your manipulations.

If you don't currently shoot Open with a racker, I would leave it off the Limited gun. I can't have one on a Single Stack or Prod gun, so I'd rather operate all those the same by pinching the front of the slide. Without a scope mount in the way I don't see a need for one...

this, specially if you are switching back and forth between single stack and limited on the same caliber.

  4. I did exactly the same thing on my armscor/RIA 45acp, I had an extra 9mm slide (cheap one i think I got it from sarco, inc) bought another barrel from sarco @ $60 for a 9mm and what ever extra parts I have. Now this is just my plicking gun although I use it sometimes on local club match every now and then. All I need to do when I want to shoot the 45acp slide is change and ejector. Gun runs good so far @ 1k on the 9mm slide.
