  1. Buying knockoffs like this only encourages more to be made. I believe buying used or saving til you can get the real thing is always better. The classifieds here are a great way to get started. xdr
  2. I found quite a few good video's on the tear down but it does look a bit more complex than the P07 I did. It was straight forward once I got into it (SRS kit & Reduced trigger spring, ext FP etc.). Once I started searching on the SP01 Tactical, I was surprised about the amount of info here and on youtube. I should have done that first I guess, but I do appreciate your inputs. . z
  3. Thank you ArrDave. Appreciate the advice. I called CGW today and spoke with David (I think). He recommended the Ultra-lite kit for ease of install and cost and as he called it, its the foundation for later mods I could do including the comp hammer. So, the FO sights and UL kit are on order. z
  4. I was fortunate enough to find a barely fired SP01 tactical for a great price. I just started shooting USPSA production with a P07 Duty that I've cajunized with the short reset kit, extended firing pin, dawson FO sites andd plan to use the SP01 now as my primary competition gun. My first priority is to get CGW FO sights on it and I also plan to polish it well. Ive already put on a pair of the thin aluminum grips w grip tape that i brought on the classifieds here. What upgrades should i prioritize next to get the trigger better? On a fixed budget so looking to only spend ~$125 or so. Would a CGW hammer be a better choice over springs, extended FP etc? Thanks in advance z
  5. That looks like a strong/sturdy design. I just built a bench and made it 39" high as well. I'm 5'11" and the height seems perfect to me so far. I also used Simpson strong ties. The brackets make the bench extremely sturdy and easy to square. Also was much faster than building it without the brackets.
  6. The Calibers on Coors holds indoor fun matches 2 times/month. Well worth trying next time you are in town. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Front sight dovetail

Not exactly what you are asking, but my son had his P10 milled for carry optics and then a glock dovetail cut behind the optic to use his favorite sight.
  8. Hi Sarge, I will check the case feed adaptor when I get home tonight. The primers are flat - that I am sure of. thanks
  9. OK, I watched the video again. Cleaned all the grease from under the station 1 locator that I originally put in (black grease from a grease gun). Re-greased it with the red grease that came with the press (why didnt I think of that the first time??!!) lubed the case feed arm activator block and the guide rails under it. I still have some tipped brass and a few falling over as well...However, the frequency is reduced quite a bit. If I cant get it perfect soon, I will post a video of it in operation when the issue occurs and see if someone can spot whats happening. thanks!
  10. Yes, I did check that. The # on the locator matches the # on the shell plate (#3) which is what I believe Dillon calls out for 223. This is a press I ordered set up for 223 from BEnos ~6-7 months ago. I havent had a chance to use it much due to work travel overseas. The black plastic case inserter is set to rifle or the short end as you described. thanks for the inputs...
  11. OK, I added grease to the back 1/3 of the cavity (end away from the shell plate) but not in the front part of the cavity as it is significantly deeper. Should I add it there as well? I ran ~25 rounds through it and am still getting cases falling over (~6 out of 25). I noticed that none went in the locator tipped though.
  12. Thanks Sarge. I'm sure it has little to no grease under it . Appreciate the help. Zane
  13. Is this locator/guide supposed to be loose? Mine has substantial play in it. I keep getting tipped brass (1 side in the track, 1 out) or brass that miss the locator track completely. I'm loading 223.
  14. Thanks a ton...that looks like a great improvement. I'll give it a go when my 9mm parts arrive for the press...
  15. I have a LM that I tried to make work for 223. It didnt work out for me mainly due to priming issues (not brass related). I brought a 650 and havent looked at the LM in a while. Since it is just laying around, I was thinking of re-purposing it for 9mm as I thought it might be work well for that with the latest priming system by Lee. I currently have a pro1K that works well for 9mm, but I thought I may have a better production rate on the LM. In general, will the LM work better for 9mm? thanks
  16. I recently put the TRuglo TFX on my P-01 and they did require a minor sight hold adjustment for me, basically putting the front dot directly on the bullseye. A 6 o'clock hold will have POI ~3 inches low at 10 yards. I love the sights though...easy to acquire and bright. Right now, I'm aware of the TruGlo TFX Pro sights and the Meprolight TruDot. I've seen some reports that the TFX are designed for the full size 75B though, and cause you to shoot low on a P-01. All input welcome. Thanks!
  17. Just loaded some blue Bullets for the first time today. I had the same problem and fixed it by backing off the crimp until it was just barely crimped. I think the more aggressive crimp was slightly flaring the case.
  18. Well the cam is installed correctly so next step is to call Dillon. Bigdodge: you mentioned some finetuning would remedy this. Can you elaborate? Thanks! xdr
  19. Thanks fellas, I will check the cam tomorrow and if correct, will call Dillon for next steps. Despite the case feeding problem, this is a wonderful machine. I am so impressed with it and keep wondering why I didnt buy it sooner. xdr
  20. Just finished setting up my xl650 I ordered from Brian and so far I am super impressed with it. One minor problem I am having is every fourth or fifth case falls over and has to be manually inserted into station 1. The manual doesnt really address that issue and neither does the Dillon forum (some posts on the same problem, but no real solutions that I could find). I would appreciate any ideas/solutions from the users here. The press is set up for 223 from the factory and I am not running the case feeder yet as I really want to learn to use it. I am manually loading up the tube with 9 pieces of brass at a time. Thanks! xdr
  21. Calipers is a great LGS/indoor range here in Albuquerque. 2 stores and I believe they are hoping to expand out of the area.
  22. Not exactly the VXR PATROL, but the new Leupold mark ar 1.5-4 firedot SPR. The eye relief/box is very forgiving, excellent glass & the firedot size changes w/ intensity. The glass seems better than 4x which I attribute to the clarity. I'm very happy w/ it for the price. X
