Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. If someone is shooting Rimfire Rifle Irons and their gun came from the factory with an A2-style flash hider, does that bump them into Open? Are flash hiders allowed in Irons division? All I've been able to find in the rulebook is this: Long Guns: Long gun competitions may be run in the Steel Chal- lenge. Rimfire rifle may use the Rimfire handgun rules, procedures and stages using the long gun start position. Various rifle and shot- gun courses may also be shot under SCSA, with the courses using various metal targets. And then the pistol rules: Rimfire Iron Sights: Any Iron-sighted rimfire pistols with- out a compensator, barrel ports or optic sights. Fiber-optic sight inserts are specifically allowed. Would an A2 (or A1?) flash hider be considered a compensator or barrel porting? I believe the military considers the A2 to be a compensator. I, personally, don't think it should really matter (you barely get any help from a comp in a 22) but I have no idea how they would rule this in a major match. Hope someone has some insight for me, thanks!
  2. So just any grease gun that fits zerk fittings? Do I need to buy any accessories with it? A flex tube?
  3. Sorry for the stupid question, but I'm finally getting around to performing some maintenance on my 650... I have the zerk fittings on my pivots but I don't know the first thing about grease guns. Can someone educate me and/or suggest a grease gun for me? The 650 is probably the only thing I'm ever going to use it on. Thanks!
  4. Eastern Nebraska Gun Club is proud to again host the USPSA Great Plains Sectional match in 2015! This is a 9 Stage Level 2 Match that will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2015. This match requires every participant to be a USPSA member. It will be held at ENGC (Directions) near Louisville. Registration: Registration must be done via mail. A link to the application and instructions is here: http://www.easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/sectional-registration.pdf Please note that you must check-in with match staff at the range prior to shooting! Match Fee: $75 if postmarked by June 21, 2015. Juniors are $40. $85 if postmarked after June 21, 2015 or later, including juniors. Cancellations after June 22, 2015 are limited to $25. Cancellations after July 3, 2015 will receive no refund. Shirts: Match Shirts (nice performance shirts, not t-shirts!) are also available for $25 each and are available in sizes from S to 3XL. If you'd like to purchase a shirt, please indicate it on your match application. Shirts must be ordered by June 26, 2015 (and we need to have received payment also). Unfortunately, there will be no shirts for sale at the match, only what is ordered at registration. Match Book: (Contains Stages and additional info) http://www.easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/2015-great-plains-sectional-match-book-v3.pdf Squadding: We use USPSA online squadding. If your registration is not received prior to a week before the match, we cannot guarantee squadding requests. Schedule Is As Follows: Competitors will be allowed to look at stages starting on Saturday, July 11. Competitors must check-in with range staff prior to the start of the match to receive their scoring sheet stickers. Check-in is 4:00PM-8:00PM Saturday, July 11 and 7:00AM-8:00AM Sunday, July 12. Match Meeting starts at 8:00AM on July 12, 2015. Match begins at 8:15AM on July 12, 2015. Equipment You Will Need: A handgun chambered in 9x19mm or larger. A holster for your handgun. It is highly recommended you get one designed specifically for your gun and not a universal holster. Plenty of ammunition. Bring at least 300 rounds. It never hurts to have “too much” ammo and it is highly recommended you bring more (never know how many “make up” shots you might need or you may need to reshoot a stage)! Not sure what division you have the equipment for [see Appendix D]? Want to get more in-depth with the rules? 5. I actually managed to find some Accurate #5 available and was looking to place an order... Is it a good powder for loading 9mm minor? I'm intending on shooting 124gr Montana Gold bullets (although this may change as time goes on). I was intending on using CCI 500 small pistol primers. Anyone using AA#5? Those bullets and/or primers a good match? What is your recipe? Any help for the newbie reloader is appreciated! Edit: Noticed there was another thread with the same question (oops). I think I have the info I need but if you want to provide additional info, I'm okay with that!

  7. If you haven't registered yet, and you are planning on getting a match shirt, you had better get it done! Only people who get their registrations (and match shirt orders) in by the cutoff date will get a shirt---we aren't ordering extras or selling any at the match, and they DO look pretty cool (if we say so ourselves)... Cutoff date: Match shirts must be ordered and paid for by June 30th. (Payment must be TO US, not in the mail on June 30th!) It's a performance shirt, not a cotton T-shirt (sorry for the previous mention of "T-shirts!"). If you saw the RO shirts last year at Area 3, those are the types of shirts you are going to get! 11. S&W will let you order most parts directly from them on the phone. I always (eventually) get my parts orders from them but sometimes it sits on back order for awhile!
  12. I love my M&Ps but if I could do it over again I'd probably get a Glock setup instead. I like the feel of a good Glock trigger better than my M&P trigger. I would advise not converting.
  13. I tried running the full competition kit, it just didn't work for me. The transition from "take up" to where it starts to break was so big that it often caused me to "slap" the trigger. It just didn't feel smooth. I imagine with a lot of practice I could have finally gotten it but I found, for me, using a S&W factory striker spring and trigger spring was the right mix with the rest of the Apex competition kit parts. You can use the Duty trigger spring from Apex but keep in mind that it is a full pound heavier than the factory spring.
  14. This is where I have landed too. I also often do this.
  15. Yes. I shoot competition with an M&P9L, carry an M&P9 and M&P9C.
