That's awesome, so it would give a quick option for people wanting to do an Open TSO build, right?

How are you securing the comp to the barrel?

Yes, I suspect this comp would work with a 1/2x28 CZC threaded barrel on a TSO, the comp has a set screw in the bottom.

  2. Yesterday I finally had a reason to try out a Lone Wolf Glock comp on a CZ and it worked surprisingly well (when complimented by a light slide and three 5/32" holes).  The best part is that it clears the frame of an SP01 when screwed onto a CZC threaded barrel!

I assume it would also clear the frame of a TS as well, be sure to post here if anyone tries it.

I’ve always wondered about a sight tracker CZ, glad to see someone take on the challenge. Looks really cool sure it shoots super flat and fast.

Sam did the hard work of fitting the cone to the bushing of his Shadow 2 slide, if you use a TS slide, you cut the slide further back behind the bushing or is you use a CZ 75 slide and a TS barrel, you can cut the cone off the sight block, like this:

This one is actually a Witness one port comp with the port welded up.

I thought this was a common issue? The slide stop pin absorbs all the rearward motion of barrel. Whereas the 1911 style pistol has a vertical&horizontal impact surface for barrel to stop against.

I used to shoot a checkmate.. but not for terribly long.

Maybe because you reduced the barrel weight by changing from steel to titanium compensator, the dwell time has decreased. Thus causing barrel to impact the slide stop pin at a higher velocity. Which equates to having more energy.

I was told it is not uncommon for people to use hardened steel/tool steel pins as a replacement for the slidestop. Effectively having no lockback mechanism at all. However, I was also told this only provided a slightly longer lifespan of the acknowledged 'consumbale' slide stop.

I am not sure a slight amount of peening in your lower lug would be concern. Unless the slide is travelling beyond operating tolerances for trigger/disconnector function while in battery.

My experience defies this logic, I've been running an aluminum comp (1/2 the weight of the steel comp and a half ounce lighter than the Sebo comp) for more than two years and tens of thousands of rounds and have yet to change my factory slide stop.

When the comp is screwed all the way in, the guide rod hole is clocked at 12 o clock (comp upside down.) The reason for that half turn out. I like it to be like the oe comp where the last turn tightens the comp to the barrel and not just the guide rod holding it in place.

I understand what you're trying to do, if you start with a TS barrel, thread it yourself and trial fit you can get what you're looking for

Damn. I just found one for a large frame and bought it. I’ll see what I can do with it.

The trick to getting it to cycle is 40gr high velocity ammo, 37gr doesn't work as well if at all.

As Maurice mentioned you may also get light strikes if you run a light hammer spring.

How hard would it be to turn one of those into a decent match gun?  I was thinking that might be a fun project.  Are parts available for it to give it an improved trigger, sights, etc.?  And are ambi safeties available for it?

I'm not positive on the latest Production rules, but Tanfoglio small frame parts swap into these guns (hammers, disconnectors), they use the same type of trigger plunger system as the Witness pistols, with a long hammer spring like a CZ.  You may not find a perfect competition rear sight, but CZ rear sights can be modified to fit and a FO front sight can be ordered from EAA (I have an extra lying around too).

    Hi,

I was at a lgs today and they had a used 2018 one for 2300 I pulled the trigger. Not sure it's good or bad but a new one I was quoted at almost 1000 more. It's all stock I think except for additional grips and larger *thumb rest [generic]*. Hope I did the right thing 🙄 I'll post a picture tomorrow. Thanks for the help everyone!

    Awesome!

  9. Welcome to the forum Nate

Like you I have a passion for shooting/gunsmithing and I also have a high-end commercial construction company which gives me a unique vantage point.

I know I'm the fun-buster here, but I suggest you get a job either from a custom gun shop or a machine shop and let someone pay you to learn the business.

Reach out to Rick Hebert in Colorado and see if he'll let you clean his shop in exchange for some mentorship.
