Well, I'll be at Aurora Saturday too. See you there.
-
You have a pink race master? Sweet. 45 or .38?
-
You in the class @ centennial? I'll be there if they hold it, I guess the instructor has been under the weather. Are you bringing a revolver to screw everyone up on their range commands? I'm undecided as to what gear I'm bringing.

Extractors need to be tuned to the pistol. If you're not comfortable with this, find a gunsmith or send it back.
-
At this point I'm seriously debating sending it to SA and having the issue fixed and getting rid of it.
Seems foolish to me to go thru the effort to get a problem worked out and then sell the pistol.
Do you do this with used cars too? I might be looking for a good used car.

C-More in a sideways mount. It's important to get the sight plane as close to the bore axis as possible--particularly if you're going to be switching back and forth between a scope and iron sights.
Great suggestion, thanks. Any issues reloading with the kickstand mount?
Didn't seem to be an issue for me when I was fooling with the one I installed for a customer.
It does make it really nice to pick up during a table start.

I was running my 627 at 6 lbs and added a little weight back to the trigger because it was too easy to short stroke it. I'm happy at 6 1/4 now. My 625 pops CCI primers at 6.5 lbs.

It sounds like the rebound slide isn't lifting the hammer. If this is the problem backing out the strain screw slightly will correct the problem. The rebound spring and mainspring need to be in balance. If you lighten the rebound you need to lighten the mainspring.

I would warn against 9mm in USPSA unless you are getting A hits with speed on a regular basis. However if you can get the speed and stay accurate, it is a fine choice..
If you're not regularly getting A's, you're probably not cleaning the steel in one shot either. There is a potential benefit to 10 rounds of minor scoring, and I think that potential benefit is even bigger to shooters in the lower classifications.

This question would get more replies in the revolver forum. Anyone want to move it?
I usually shoot with moonclips, but I've spent a bit of time with HKS and Safariland comp I loaders. For me, I find it causes me trouble when I try to toss the loader to the ground before I close the cylinder. I think it's easy to have slight side pressure on the loader when I hold onto it and pull it away, this can keep the round from fully dropping into the chamber. I have had better luck letting go of the loader and letting it drop on it's own when I close the cylinder.

I think single stack is the only division where major and minor scoring are on an equal footing.
8 rounds minor is a slight advantage in revolver and really simplifies stage planning. I score about 3% higher in the overall at a match shooing a 8 shot minor revolver vs 6 shot major gun.

When I shot plated, I pulled a bullet after I adjusted my crimp die to check that I hadn't cut thru the plating. I had a pretty good crimp on there with no problem.
-
I roll crimp everything I feed into a revolver. I tried taper crimps with plated bullets and a bullet pulled completely out of the case. The Berry's plating is thin, but it will tolerate a light to moderate roll crimp.

Your other eye fills in the picture for your brain, it's like it's not even there.

My personal opinion is that the 929 should come with a SS cylinder and a 5" barrel for a compromise to the weight and flexibility for competition modifications.....after all it is a competition purposed model.
The titanium reduces the problem of the cylinder notches peening. I'd fit TI cylinders to my 625 and 627 if they were available.

My limit is around 140 miles each way for a match that is high quality, meaning movers, partials, 8 stages or more. Otherwise time is better spent practicing at a closer location.
You an easterner?
Spaces are a little bigger in the west, fortunately the speed limits are higher too.

I installed a C-more on a BMT kickstand for a customer. It's a 90 degree mount and puts the dot in a similar place as the open sights. I found it very easy to transition between this and an iron sighted gun. If/when I build an open revo, this would be my first choice.
I have sent back several Delta points under warranty. It's a nice package and the warranty is good, but I don't think it's up to the number of rounds a competition shooter puts thru it.

It's all the same. Did you ever wonder why a revo shooter gets cranky when you step on their $7 moonclip?Geez, no wonder revolvers are so popular.
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Agreed. I wasn't going to say anything but since you started it, this term annoys the hell out of me.Bullet HEADS?
Where did this term start? I see it more and more frequently these days.
They are BULLETS!
I've seen the base, ogive and nose of a bullet, but never a head.

Have you tried setting your press up at different heights? It can change how you use your shoulder.
-
You could cut another dovetail in front of your existing sights.
-
If you are a 1911 guy and you don't really care about winning, you can get a 625 and shoot major. Major revolvers aren't competitive ...
I disagree. My match scores are maybe 3% better with an 8-shot. Unless you're exactly the same skill level as another shooter, major or minor won't make a bit of difference in your match placement.

Flat primers in revolvers are frequently due to the case moving back at firing. Revolvers require a bit of headspace to operate.

Yup. Single stack thru the Pueblo qualifier next month then back to the round gun thru the rocky mountain 300.
