  1. I used to do this, but realized the time I invested in loading and unloading moonclips before a match was unnecessary.

I'm now a fan of " loading as I go " during the match utilizing the dillon border shift bag , which is great - has two large pockets , one for load and one for unloaded brass.

Just something to consider if you dont have the funds for 40-50 moonclips.

Do we know the round count?  I'd like to ship ammo this week.

The matchbook should be released by the end of this month, but in the mean time you can email MD Ken @ IRC-2019-MatchDirector@icore.org to see if he can share a round count with you.

  3. Factory triggers on both Rugers & Smiths are going to be poo, at least in my opinion. Though, I think a factory smith trigger is slightly more tolerable. I'm sure lawyers play a big part in that.

With a good gunsmith behind the trigger job it feels pretty good, but yes still a long pull.

So should I switch to shooting jacketed rounds only?
That's going to be a lot more expensive, especially since I don't have room for reloading (apartment).

PPU is pretty dirty stuff, I used to shoot it before starting to reload.

    Cheap powder

    Cheap primers

    Soft lead

All equal for a dirty revolver.

Unless the quality of the ammo or residue bothers you , keep at it - just need a little more attention for cleaning.

Once you start to reload / different ammo with higher quality components you'll notice you'll get between ALOT more rounds before having to due a good cleaning.

    Hey Alec,

Is that your hardcover dryfire light switch in the background?

    How cool is that!!

Just a dryfire sticker , not a light switch.

You may be on to something though. A true un-tapped market.

Alec, if I recall correctly, has a motor or agitator of some sort on his powder drop for his clays to get around that issue.

Something like this might help as I've polished the Xtra small powder bar but still have trouble with Clay dot and e3 dropping accurately (it's bridging I assume). RS Competition is working great but I have probably a lifetime supply of Clay Dot and e3 that I would like to use up.

Clays meters like poo under like 3.8 grains or so.

I've found success getting a constant 3.2 grain drop with clays using the Xtra Small powder drop bar, and using a cheap fish tank air pump ( emphasize on the cheap, cheaper the better so it vibrates more ) just taped to my powder drop.

  7. Sounds to me like the aftermarket hammer is not the problem but you are installing something incorrectly.

Did you take anything else out besides the hammer? Did you fit the sear to the hammer and check to see it functioned?

Can you post a picture of the internals of the revolver.

  8. What distances are we talking here? 6 feet? 20 yards? 50 yards?

Rear sight goes in the direction you want the bullet to go, so in your case you'd need to gradually move the rear sight to the left.

If the gun is fine, just sounds like you need to work on a proper grip and do some practicing.
