  1. I found that the surplus grenade pouches can hold 3 enblocs. I used 2, one forward and one aft of my holster. Worked OK, but even better when I flipped the flap over and behind the belt. Just using the molle webbing may be even better, but I worry about them falling off, because I'm such an athlete and fleet of foot you know. There is no way I'll be competitive with a Garand, but sometimes it's just more satisfying to have the most fun. That said, I still want to increase my speed reloading. I'll come up with something. Too bad the guys that know how to load it fast are about all gone.

  2. If you run an 11 round tube or more, I'd be changing at about 500 rounds. If you run a 10, maybe 1000 rounds. 8 round tuibe maybe 2000 rounds.

That is assuming you are running that number live fire and at least that much in loading practice.

I'm not sure what this "practice" is you speak of...lol!

  3. I just received a little over 300 .30-06 rounds. There is no way I would shoot them in my Garand, so I'm pulling the bullets. Is there a safe way to remove the primers that's not readily aparent to me? I figure if nothing else, I'll just cycle them through the rifle.

    Thanks, B

  4. I'm plenty new to the 1911 platform. I have no idea what I need in terms of bullet profile /weight. All I know is I need major PF and will mostly shoot 3 gun HM and maybe dabble in single stack. So, will it be the man sized 230 grain RN, or is there something better?

    Thanks, B

  5. The used M2 and the MOA Stoger M3000 are the same price. Though the MOA will have there competition package installed. I would appreciate any more info and discussion, and thank everyone for their posts.

Seriously, I would get the M2 and start off by adding a Nordic tube. You'll be in the game, and have a solid base for whatever competition treatment you decide to go with. I really like my Stoeger, and it's what I can afford right now. I only added the mag tube and had Rose Action Sports finish the load port, weld the lifter, and smooth out some minor stuff. All the oversize buttons and handles aren't going to win me any matches, so I opted for Spartan improvements. I would do the same if I had the M2.

  6. I never implied the Stoeger was a turd, it can be made into a reasonable gun, but if I were to chose between the two, as the original poster was asking, I would go with the one that has a proven record. It seems he had enough money for either so why not go with the one that doesn't need any work to make it work well?

Exactly! PS. I didn't think you, or anyone else, considered Stoegers as turds. Sorry if you misunderstood

  7. If you can Twin load "like mad" why do you even care about Quad loading at this point? Are you getting 2nd and 1st is just a few seconds out of your reach?

Like an expensive optic, for the vast majority of 3Gunners, loading Quads only will hurt their score, not improve it. Not saying don't learn it or practice it, but do the math.

I took me about 10 minutes to figure it out, 3 years ago. At that time I was convinced that there would be shooters get under 3 seconds to load 8, and we are there now, but the fumble factor is higher, it takes a little more finesse and when you are skilled at both, the difference is less than a second between twin and quad. Unless you are nipping at the heels of the top dogs, there are so many other skills to work on that will result in better scores. Offhand rifle shooting, shooting on the move, etc.

While my previous post was a bit tongue in cheek, this is probably some of the best advice I've seen. While I do practice loading quads, if I absolutely must hit the reload, I always configure for twins.
