  1. Santa express arrives Saturday. Looks like the lee will have to load one more match's worth of ammo.
  2. Funny thing, Loaded some 9mm last night on the lee and it worked great. Almost like it knew it was being replaced.
  3. Sorry to inform you guys that I've just put in an order for a blue press. .38 spl just drove me over the edge of frustration and I need 4 holes in the turret for a factory crimp die. I'll hold on to my lee pros as back ups but I'll finally be switching over to dillon by the weekend.
  4. With an endorsement like that, I really couldn't lose! Thanks shooting support group! 550B in 9mm and .38 spl on its way to my door!
  5. Thanks for the support group. I'm on the 12 step program to financial ruin through USPSA thanks to you guys!
  6. Haha you guys are winning me over. I feel like I would go with the 550 just because I interchange calibers alot because of USPSA/ICORE/random shooting. That and it does come quite a bit cheaper than the 650.
  7. I'm almost at the end of my rope mucking around with my lee pros. Last night I sat down to load some .38 spl and after an hour had a grand total of 40 usable cases and about 25 upside/crushed primer cases. Argh! I reload 9mm/.45/.38 spl. I have two lee presses that worked ok with the auto calibers but there's something about switching over to load .38 that is completely frustrating and just screws up the works. (it takes about 30-45 minutes for me to change over from 9 to .38 due to tuning/breaking/weird crazy random problems). Will my needs be met if I plunk down the cash for a 550b and conversion kits between the three calibers? I shoot about 1-2k a month, about 75% of it in 9mm. On a good day I can load about 400 rounds an hour on the lee but once they go down due to a powder flake somewhere where it doesn't belong the press goes down hard. I've got the womanly consent to go ahead and buy, but I'm on the fence about spending the equivalent of a gun on a press. Need some enablers to tell me it's ok!
  8. I think it's a habit that I need to break. I ran through that course mentally many times before I ran it and I knew where all the targets were. Something to work on when I make my house stage.
  9. Yes, I've noticed that more and more that I drop the gun between targets. If you watch my range diary it's pretty obvious. That's one of the top things I'm going to work on in the next two weeks.
  10. It's more likely too much focus on the easy ones. When scoring that stage my groups on the close targets where within an inch of each other, I was probably applying too sharp of a focus on the close targets, not good at determining what is "good enough" so I just go with the long range focus on all targets. I will try the accel/decell drill.
  11. This was from yesterday. Stage 5 of 5 in our local USPSA match. Out of all of the stages that I have film of I think this one is probably the most indicative of my current ability (aside from long range shots). I've got two weeks until another match. What sort of specific drills would you guys recommend I work on in dry fire? I am thinking that I should set up a course of fire in my house and practice moving and shooting, I am not very good at shooting on the go yet.
  12. Stage 5 I think this was the best stage as far as technique is concerned. Cons was it was slow. The top people on my squad shot it in 18-21s, I took 28s. When I can run this stage in 20 seconds I know I'm getting somewhere. Goals for next competition. Change my dry fire routine. Need to set up stages in my house that allow me to move. I notice that my gun position is inconsistant between transitioning between target sets, I lower the gun out of my sightline instead of tucking it close to my body. My solution is to set up some COFs in my house so I can practice the big movements of moving and rotating for targets. Other things would be to continue to work on my speed at getting an acceptable sight picture. Doing some reading, I think that I am blinking between shots because I don't see my sights track. I think I will get some contact lenses, I've heard that with the lenses covering the eyeball it inhibits that blink reflex. Also, I can't see a damn thing without glasses on so it would be nice to be able to make out where my shots hit instead of shooting at the center of various people shaped blobs.
  13. Stage 3 - This was the worst stage of the day. I missed a 7 yard popper 5 times and added 10 seconds to my stage. Arrgh! Stage 4 - Simple stage, IMO my best stage of the day. First time I've ever shot a texas star clean!
  14. Just shot my club's monthly USPSA match on Saturday. http://www.palmettogunclub.org/ipsc.htm Great club if you guys havn't been. Thanks to Wilbert Spruell for recording. Stage 1 Ideas for improvement - Should have squared up on the first target from the start box. I thought hands on barricade = body facing barricade - The two close targets in the middle should have been engaged when moving from the left to the right of the course Stage 2 - - Freestyle shows that my splits = my transitions. Probably should have faster splits. - Strong hand was .1 seconds faster than my freestyle! - I'm happy with my weak hand shooting, no misses.
  15. Buy another press! At $175 they are cheap enough for that. I've got one for 9mm and one for .45
  16. What do you mean by shell plate carrier? It's not hard to swap the shell plate. Just one screw and pop off the turret.
  17. Yes, it looks like they have just updated it only a couple months ago. I bought my lees about a year ago and they don't have the bar. I'm really looking forward to getting the bar and the bullet feeder cause then I can go full auto on my loading.
  18. I tried some single stack today at the local range. Boy that was embarrassing! HF of 2.3 when I'm normally around 4.5 or so with the Glock on their course. Pretty clear to me I'm sticking to the plastic gun for awhile (or maybe it's 9mm hi cap)
  19. Just purchased the roller bar kit and the feeder. Thanks for the tip!
  20. Got it cleaned up. Very happy so far! After running three patches through soaked with Hoppe's Bore Gel it came out very shiny. After liberal application of FP-10, the action slicked up and now the cylinder spins much easier.
  21. I drop in every weekend! Last year I bought $400 computer speakers from them for $50.
  22. Whatever the object being burned, they make nice ragged holes out of my .45. As long as it doesn't give me cancer, Donnie can keep burning whatever he is he's burning in those things.
  23. I second the recommendation for Bayou bullets. They smell like burning tires when you shoot them indoors, but they have minimal leading and Donnie makes a great product! Just bought 3.5k 124gr from him last month. I load them with 3.8gr of Titegroup at 1.15 OAL and they shoot great.
  24. To be honest, it would be pretty badass if that used to be blood. Totally adds to the mystique of the gun, it could have been in a places in its 90 year lifespan.
