I bought my snap ring plyers at harbor freight for like $4.
I bought two handles for my RL1050 and Super 1050, makes reloading much more comfortable.
-
Finally got my super 1050 set up and have produced all of 200 rounds. There is an issue I'm having on the upstroke. At the bottom of the downstroke, an L shaped lever is pushed clear of the teeth on the safety ratchets on the back of the press. However on the upstroke, it slips back and catches on the first tooth. I end up having to pull the handle down a hair to release the tension and then hold the lever back manually to finish the upstroke. The screw holding that lever is tight but there is still a bit of play on it. I've looked at the assembly but I can't figure out what is causing the lever to swing back and re-engage.
It's intermittent. It'll run smooth for 20-30 rounds, stick for maybe 10-20, and then run smooth again... and then stick again... etc, etc.
Any suggestions?
Put some locktite on the screw that holds the ratchet and let it dry. Just make sure you have the screw in the position where everything is working smoothly before letting it dry.

OK, I got it setup. I found all the parts I needed from my other conversion kits.
Here is a list of what you will need:
45 Long Colt "Yellow" case feed adapter
45 Long Colt shell plate "C"
45 Long Colt "#4" location pins
500 S&W Plunger
500 S&W/ 50AE powder funnel
X-Large powder die
50AE Die-set
I noticed the 45 long colt swage should work if you have a crimped primer pocket. I really didn't need to use it, since I was reloading factory brass.

The C shellplate might work, this is what we use on the XL650. The bigger issue is case feeding- the large diameter of the body of the case will probably not feed through the tube, and I doubt the case will fit into the large case feed plunger. The 1050 loaders were not designed for a case that large in diameter.
Got it working, see next reply.

I had that happen several times, You can get the brass shine back in corn cob or walnut media.

I need to load some 50ae, anyone doing this on a super 1050?
What shell plate do I need?
-
My thunking is caused by the front alignment pin dragging on the up stroke. Added a little of grease and that made the thunking go away.

Anybody having issues with using CCI 200 primers, I think I just got a bad batch. I believe they are too thick and the yellow wax like stuff they make the primers with is dragging and causing the primers to roll or flip before seating.

I finally got my reloading bench setup the way I like it with my new 1050's. I just upgraded my reloading bench from two 650XL's to one 1050RL and one Super 1050. Space is a little tight now as you can see.

Mine starting acting up right out of the box. The screw will not stay where I adjust it. I think I need some locktight on it, it will loosen up after a 100 or so rounds and start hanging up.

I agree use stainless pins to clean them. I just loaded some today that looked worst than that.
Ran them through the corn Cobb, then stainless pins and they look great.

Called dillon they are sending me another set of springs.
-
I just ran 300 45 acp brass in the new bowl, I will be calling dillon in the morning. The wear is back, from what I can see the springs are the cause. All the brass is on one side and just beating the bowl to pieces. I stopped the tumbler three times to fine all the brass on one side.

So you just got a new RL? If you don't know what to do with it I'll take it. I have been looking for an RL to load pistol only.
The deal on Enos seems to be about as good as it gets. Just wondering how much you paid. I though Dillon was controlling prices pretty tightly for internet sales.
I just loaded 600 .223 on the RL 1050, the first 100 rounds took some time as I needed to tweak the press. After that it was smooth, much faster than the 650's I had.
I just ordered a Super 1050 from Brian, so I can load rifle and pistol now.
I paid retail price on the RL, but I got $500 worth of freebies.

Just picked up the press.
RL1050
It is in great condition and I don't think I'll need to send it in for a refurb.
Came with a couple sets of dies and shell plates, but no additional tool heads.
I'm ok with that though as it did have a few extras, and the thing is good to go as is.
Can't wait to get it all set up and start cranking out rounds.
While I like my Hornady LNL, I think this press will help me save huge amounts of time.
Now to look for a bullet feeder!
I just got a new RL-1050, someone had one setting around for a longtime new in the box. From what I was told the mechanics on the RL-1050 is better then the super.

Have you checked eBay for some used software. I have 4 - 530 rinos they are great units.
-
I started out using berrys and later switched over to dillons 2001. Both work great, but I needed something that can handle more brass.
-
I have never tired using this powder. What is a good load using this powder with extreme 45 200gr plated bullets?
-
The whole problem lies in the shell plate it's either too loose or too tight.
I was having this same issue last night, somehow it loosened just a little while I was cranking and everything started jam up or get crushed.
-
This happen to me and they started filling up in pin guide hole right after the swagger.
I still have no idea how, my only guess is the bolt that locks in the primer slide was loose.
-
I am sure they will replace it quickly but you will still be without it for a few days.
Bummer.
Just got it back, that was fast. Dillon gets two thumbs up.
They replaced the bowl at no charge.

Has this ever happen before?
I got my first dillon 1050 the other day, went to set it up today.
I had issues right away, I was trying to setup .308 and I was having issues with the ratchet in the back of the press.
I called dillon to try and figure out the problems. After about 10 minutes, we figured out I got a RL 1050 with a super 1050 case feeder.
WTF!
I called the dealer I bought this from, and he said he would call dillon first thing Monday.
I would have bought it here, but I could not pass up the deal I got.

Posted this not to long ago. If you search you can find the thread.
Perfect that is what I am looking for.

I made mine from some chunks of Delrin that I bolted to 4x18 pieces of oak. I mounted them to some drawer slides to make getting them easier. Initially I thought about putting a Lazy Susan under my bench, but went a different direction instead.
What is Delrin?
