Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. My guess is that the crimp die on the 4th station of the Dillon is too high. The 9x19 chamber is tapered, so if that final crimp is insufficient, the case won't go all the way in. Instead of using the case gage to check your cartridges, you should use the barrel for the "plunk test." Every manufacturer's chamber is a little different, often intentionally. Going by primers purchased and consumed, I have something like 25k reloads fired though my Gen3 G17. If your cartridges didn't fit in the other shooter's barrel, then they probably didn't fit in yours either.
  2. This sounds like the sort of thing the AMU might be interested in funding...
  3. Can you give us an approximate cost? I've been daydreaming about open guns lately...
  4. The Olympic guys play with rolling trigers quite a bit. What they are looking for is basically a long(ish) smooth pull. Think of a DA revolver, but only 2 pounds. The idea is that you get to steer the gun with the trigger a bit more...it gives your brain time to fix your alignment screwups.
  5. 3.1gr titegroup with a Hornady 147 XTP. If someone asks, I will find the seating depth. 10 shots Hi 892 fps Lo 868 fps Standard Deviation 8 fps average PF 129.
  6. 3.3 of Tite Group with 147 XTP's gave me about 950fps, but the velocity was pretty erratic. They did, however, shoot very very soft.
  7. I am going to chrono 3.3 grains of TG with a 147 XTP in a G17 tonight I will let you know. Owen
  8. A leek? I'll peck it with my beak. It will take me a week, I am rather weak.
  9. INTJ or INTP, depending on my mood. The INT? types were about 85% of my freshmen engineering class back in 1994. Owen
  10. Summer Blast 2004 was my first major USPSA match (I've been to Camp Perry a few times). I had a really good match, except for Stage 7, where I managed to fail to engage the set of wide open targets at the very beginning. I had planned to get them on the way down the hall, but, uh, forgot. I also am having some trigger trouble on my Glock, where sometimes the trigger pull gets very long and heavy to the point where the striker won't always release. Of course, my pistol decided to start misbehaving on the last stage I shot, and the only stage with truly long shots. Last night, I eviscerated my pistol and basically replaced every part in the fire control. I hope that got it. I really liked Stage 1, and the stage with all the pink stockade fence. It was fun running down the wall and sniping the targets through the ports on the move. I haven't done that before. All in all it was a good match for me. I let myself shoot a little faster than I normally do in matches, and I feel it paid off. Linda is the greatest. I shoot in Columbia, SC, and have the pleasure of having her do the stats at all of our club matches. From what I've heard there are a lot of stats people in USPSA that could learn a few lessons from her. Owen
  11. It seems like many of you are using your timers during dry-firing. How do you do this? I don't think my Pact IV isn't sensitive enough to hear the click. Owen
