  1. Ah you may be onto something. I use Bayou bullets. And so does a buddy of mine, same combo and same coating, in this case the golden coating, plus Tite Group. It's actually nice. It makes everybody happy.
  2. My reloads and those of others using TiteGroup have a bizarre pleasant smell reminiscent of baby powder. I am the only one to notice? And why is that, do you think? Has it always been the case? I have been using TiteGroup for a few months as N320 simply disappeared. Thanks!
  3. Bayou Bullets perform very well for me as well. I am stoked by the quality and consistency and they show up at my door less than 3 days after ordering (well, one of the advantages of them not being in the North East).
  4. Did you guys also notice the magazines were dropped at $19.95? I am getting 4 I had that money reserved for something else GP-related but was unable to finalize the transaction. Oh well.
  5. Gotcha. I will correct my statement: I have never seen an OEM gun that was on the USPSA production list banned from shooting SSP.
  6. I have never seen a gun that was on the USPSA production list banned from shooting SSP. The opposite is untrue, as you could bring a High Point to an IDPA match but would be laughed out of a USPSA match.
  7. Really, you think so? Then I'll bring a Webster dictionary and show them the definition of a cone and ask them to show me how it applies to this Seriously, maybe it could be considered somewhat of a cone barrel. In IDPA, it is all about judgement calls. Contrary to common perception, the IDPA rulebook is very slim and leaves too much open for interpretation. Best would be to ask the IDPA folks.
  8. Not a heavy barrel, not a cone style barrel. Fluted bull barrel, yes.
  9. Well, I cannot download the PDF, because of my firewall (I am on my lunch break), if you could paste the section that you believe would not allow an X-Cal to shoot IDPA in SSP, I am curious to see it. It may still be possible to shoot in ESP. But like zhunter says: "Ummm". I am having 100x more fun shooting unaffiliated indoor matches at private gun range, outdoor night steel matches and the occasional USPSA match (like 2 a month on average) to even trying wasting my time shooting IDPA. But to each his own, especially if your local club is IDPA-oriented. We have one club here in Phoenix like that (PRGC). As for getting used to it, well there is no difference in the gripping and overall handling between the K100 and the X-Cal. That's the miracle they managed to accomplish. I feel absolutely no difference in weight, grip or even recoil. The X-Cal is much more accurate, the K100 MK7 has a shorter reset. It stops there. The K100 is the first gun I purchased with the intent to shoot in practical competitions. Which means I did not carry habits from a different pistol. If this is a reboot after a long break, I do not see any issue with buying the X-Cal straight ahead.
  10. I posted the section of rules about the SSP division and I did not see anything claiming that bull barrels were illegal in IDPA. Now, the bubba who holds the clock may have an issue based on the fact that the pistol looks "weird" and that it violates some tenants of his religion. In this case, he should leave his religion at home. I see nothing at all which would prevent the X-Calibur from competing in IDPA Stock Service Pistol.
  11. I am not quite sure what would make the X-Calibur illegal in IDPA? That's the way it comes out of the box, with a fluted bull barrel and ported slide. And yes, IDPA just like in USPSA Production commands you to start decocked. Currently no decocker means you need to use your thumb to slowly lower the hammer.
  12. Get the 13lbs spring for Beretta 92 and cut it to fit. You may want to experience with different weights. I am going to buy a spring scale from Dillon and start reporting on what I found. I just remembered that all my springs were stolen with my range bag. I definitely need to call Eagle Arms.
  13. Awesome. Looks like I will be shooting production at area 2.
  14. Paid 930 for mine. It included transfer fee and AZ taxes. That $999 is somewhat reasonable considering the demand and lack of offer. Wait a couple weeks.

  16. Just shoot it in production. No one will protest. If anything you'll be bumped to open but who cares if it is a club match?
  17. My guns were all in the safe during my own burglary but the punk decided to still walk out with my range bag (with 5 of my magazines, 2 being high-caps, and a bunch of 9mm ammo) and a pricey Gamo pellet rifle (probably thinking it was the real deal). He also stole an old (4 years old) laptop and my PS3. The issue is that if he saw I have a gun safe and all the tell-tale of someone in the hobby (reloading press and components, gear, etc...) he may provide the info to a more specialized burglar who knows how to handle alarm systems and safes. This is why a specific gun insurance is a good thing. But more than just losing your guns (and money) the main issue is knowing that street punks may be walking around with your guns, ready to commit crimes with them and giving ammo to the gun grabbers.
  18. Well, talking about magazines... It turns out that I only have 5 left after some #^&$#* burglarized my home on Friday. It was obviously a snatch and grab by a meth head who stole my laptop, my Playstation and my range bag. I think he thought my gun was in there but fortunately I am not totally dumb and it's a good thing that meth heads aren't usually good at cracking safes. I had my 20-round magazine, my magazine modified to 19 rounds and the two magazines which I could load up to 17, plus another one. And my ear and eye protection, plus 200-some rounds of 9mm, Dillon boxes, several tools, my USPSA RO credentials, etc... etc... But, anyway, life goes on! And he was lucky I did not catch him in the act. I won't say more.
  19. I have a suggestion, but nevermind. The less people buy one, the better for me.
  20. By the way, talking about the firing pin channel, I found out that that part was also resigned from Mk7 to Mk12. I explained earlier that you had to give a quarter turn to the firing pin before extracting it: not anymore. Punch out the retaining pin and simply full the firing pin gently with needle nose pliers or just use gravity to let it drop. You can remove the spring for inspection but you can leave it in there during cleanup. It does not slide easily, by the way, meaning that it is a tight fit. All you need are 3 Q-Tips with Hobbes 9 and that's it. Re-install the firing pin, punch the retaining pin back in and you're done. The slide even has notches on each side of the retaining pin channel so that your punch does not damage the slide. I personally do not lube the channel. Just inspect to make sure that the pin shows up right behind the hold. I'd do it once every 10 some matches. Just good general maintenance.
  21. I don't want to sound like I am being facetious here but when you say "too round at the tip": compared to what? Is there a standard of what firing pins should look like? And why? What if I told you that in 3 years of shooting a K100 competitively I have had very little misfires (less than .01%) and that the few I had had nothing to do with the quality or style of the strike but rather a dirty firing pin channel from shooting dirty powders like Unique or a bad primer (mostly CCI)? If you want to bring this up to Grand Power, you can probably contact them and explain your opinion. They can probably explain their design to you. Again, not being dismissive or facetious. If you think there's an issue, feel free to bring it to them.
  22. Those rounds look like commercial loads to me. No idea what you're talking about. And yes, it is a loose firing pin. The design is very simple and efficient, it does require regular cleanup with dirty powder.
