  1. I think right now the box limit is the only thing keeping jt from getting even worse. Take away the box limit and it won't be wait 30 min in line it will be wait for hours in line as it would make it more beneficial for the person after the money to wait to snag every round that came in and do like was already said and sell it in the parking lot or online. At least with a 3 box limit it makes it less of an incentive.

I have posted this once before but here in Northern KY I was at a local Wally world. Waiting in line at the sporting goods and I asked for any 22lr ammo the guy just laughed. Walked out and got stopped close to the door by a guy asking me what kind of ammo I was looking for. I knew what this guy was up to so I played along. Triple the price for 22lr, 9mm you name it. Come to find out he is apart of a group of people that know the times of the trucks coming in at each Wally world, Dicks Sorting Goods etc etc. Now to get around the 3 box rule they work in packs. He said most of the time 3-5 them will wait for an hour or more in line waiting for the ammo to come off of the trucks and normally buy all they have. So how do you compete with that???? Its not going to stop until folks stop paying those prices. Me I would rather not shoot than pay those prices.

  2. Trigger came in today, I just put it in. It's a ridiculously short reset, light pull, and crisp break. I don't have enough material sanded off, the trigger breaks oh say about 1/1000th of an inch before the overtravel stop touches the frame.

I am also looking pretty hard at this trigger. I have watched the videos numerous times already. How long did it take you to put it in? What sizes punches did you use (can't remember from the video)? My last question and this one is for anyone that has put one of these in. Small, big or huge improvement over the stock trigger? Or is it a must have????? Thanks

There is a night and day difference between the stock and the PRP Ultimate Match. The trigger sets and resets in a hair less than the space required for the stock trigger to reset.

I actually used an Allen wrench to poke the pins out and when the trigger pins came up to bat I used a bigger Allen wrench with a touch of electrician's tape and a multitool as a hammer. I used those and sandpaper. When it worked the first time after installing it, I took the file included in the multitool to sand a little off for some breathing room due to the fact the trigger would be right up next to the frame when it would go off. Overall, it took me about 75-90 minutes all things considered.

I'm taking it to the range tomorrow afternoon, will let you know if I turned my 5.25 9mm into a 19rd burst pistol on accident.

Thanks for that info. That last line was a classic.

  3. The key here is casual 3 gun shooter and I also put myself in this category. Just let me say I was raised on Remington shotguns (hunting only) and I love their products. I have owned many over the years and haven't had any complaints. I spent a solid two months trying to decide between the Versa Max Tactical or the 930 JM Pro. I had never owned a Mossberg before. I ended up lucking into a JM Pro at a very good price. Now this was before all the panic set in. That was the key decision maker for me was price. I have 4 kids that normally take all of my money. Now back to the JM. The only issue I have had with it was the follower hanging up. It would always happen when I was practicing my load two. It would always hang up where the mag ext. attached I would normally just give the gun a little shake and problem solved. My thought process here that during live fire the recoil would always solve this issue. Wrong. It happened when firing the gun also. I did a little research and bought a Nordic low drag follower and problem solved. The trigger group is a little sloppy and has some minor wiggle to it. I have read that others have this issue. Other than that I love the gun, runs great and haven't had any issues after adding the nordic. I did handle the VM tactical numerous times and loved the way the shotgun felt. In the end I feel like I made the right choice.

The problem you may have now is the JM's have jumped up in price. I have seen several in stock just here in the last few days for 899.00. Now if I were in the market right now..............tougher decision for me.

  4. Trigger came in today, I just put it in. It's a ridiculously short reset, light pull, and crisp break. I don't have enough material sanded off, the trigger breaks oh say about 1/1000th of an inch before the overtravel stop touches the frame.

  5. My stock follower would hang about every 6 out of 10 times when practicing my load two. It would stick where the ext attaches. A little shake of the gun at it would free up. I figured under live fire the recoil would cure this problem. Wrong. Jammed the first 3 gun I ran with it. Now that being said I added the Nordic follower and took it out about 3 weeks ago and it ran like a champ!!!!!! Put about 150 federal bulk through it without any issues at all! When I am practicing my load two no issues at all. Not sure what your issue is but that was mine. Hope it helps.

  6. I followed Bruce Piatt's advice. I have a Brownell's 3 gun soft case and put into a SKB hard golf bag case. Kind of "stealthy" and you leave the hard case in the hotel and bring just the soft case to the range.

    +1 ^^^^^^^

Check your local second hand sports stores you can usually pick one of these up cheap.

  7. Not sure if anyone out there is looking for a Versa Max Tactical (non Zombie) but I just got an email from KYGUNCO.com that they were back in stock. I was looking for the VM tactical and the JM Pro and I found the JM Pro first. I just thought I would pass the info along to anyone looking.

  8. New shooter here. I was in a local large store yesterday. I have been searching for 9mm for several weeks. Walk up to the counter and go figure no 9mm only 2 boxes of 45. Several people were at the counter looking and I walked off. Next thing you know a guy stops me before I make it to the door. He tells me " I have some 9mm if you are interested'. I ask how much and of course its triple the price. I act interested and strike up conversation with this guy. Come to find out he is apart of a group of people that are going around to all local places that stock ammo and are buying it up to flip it on Armslist for triple the price. They have all the schedules of truck deliveries so they are there waiting several hours for the trucks to be unloaded. Now most stores have put a limit of three boxes per customer so of course they work in packs so you get the picture. So how does one compete with that? I am not going to pay triple the price for ammo and I certainly do not have the time ( I work ) to drive around town looking.

  9. I think alot of the people buying it right now are placing it on armslist, gunbroker etc. Armslist looks just like a list of walmarts inventory at 2-3 times the price. Gunbroker, everytime a large place releases ammo cheap it ends up marked way up on gun broker. Cabelas has stopped the mass ordering now by placing limits on ammo(they use to be a huge source for the flippers) It will really take people to quit buying off these sites at the prices as the guys doing it are making a ton of tax free income off it. Take away the reason to buy like that and they are out of the buying market It will take a few months at least

I could not agree with you more. I have been checking local Armslist and you can buy ammo anytime if you want to pay double or triple the price. I simply refuse to do it! I am new to the shooting sports (3Gun). I spent all of last year buying equipment (guns included). Now I have my equipment I am having trouble finding the ammo to shoot not to even mention practices. I am one of the ones that didn't have time to prepare, didn't have the extra cash at the time to prepare. So for now practice is very limited shotgun only (which is a good thing) and alot of dry firing. I will shoot less matches for now. I am considering getting into reloading but the start up costs not to mention finding the equipment plus the components right now. I'm sure there are other new shooters in the same boat. So for now I am just saving money and learning a lesson for the furture.
