  1. This is my first time going to SMM3-Gun this year and I wanted to know how they had everyone grounding or cooling off your shotgun during multi gun stages??? I am trying to get some practice and need to know there procedures. Thanks for info
  2. Dave When you get done shooting our 7 stages, you will have had enough for one day. If you need more sign up and reshoot on Sunday. Look forward to seeing you guys. Louie
  3. I hope weather wise you won't have to wear your tights. We should have a great time, bring lots of ammo, we added a 7th stage. So much fun shooting out 300 meters, and then shoot hosier stages.
  4. 2005 New York State Action Rifle Championship applications and stages are available on our web site. Go to; www. squaredealipsc.com 6 stages maybe 7 stages over 200 rounds- long range shooting out to 300 meters, house clearings, field stages and speed stages.
  5. I purchased a Pelican case #1750 for my rifle and shotgun for SSM3gun. Looking over my airline regulations the pelican case is too big and will be subject to a over charge. Has anyone with a 1750 pelican case flown and had to pay additional charges??? My first time flying with guns and would like to know how strict airlines are on baggage size. Thanks for info Louie
  6. We are looking for someone driving to SMM3gun from east coast??????? 3 shooters from upstate New York looking to hitch a ride for our ammo. We promise our ammo won't take up alot of room, won't talk your ear off while driving and you will not have to stop at a rest area for them. Thanks Louie
  7. Flying to SMM3gun first time with guns. Santa is bringing me a Pelican case # 1750 for Xmas. I plan to fit all 3 guns in one case. How about additional baggage insurance on that checked gun case??? Is it a good idea? How much does it cost? How do i purchase the insurance? Suggestions? Ideas? from experienced flyiers who have flown with guns. Thanks Louie :
  8. I got a e mail yesterday 12/14/04 that my app has been excepted and processed, hee ha ! I am off to Superstition Mountain Mystery 3gun for the first time. I am very very excited to go to this 3gun match. I would like to thank everyone who gave me advise and info pertaining to this match. I am flying in so limited on equipment to bring, means leaving my 3gun cart home. How does everyone lug gear around at the match???? Can you park the rental close to stages and work out of the car with gear between stages???? Are the stages within walking distance of each other? How suscessfull have shooters been UPS ammo to there hotels before arriving??? Thanks

  10. I started this topic trying to get advise on the best and safest way to cool down your AR. This was my first year of 3-gun competition and let me tell you what I have observed cooling down AR. With the clock running a competitor dropped his mag and fired down range as I watch the round hit the top of the berm. I also watch a shooter drop his mag and fire down range and knocked down a steel plate that was set up for his shotgun part of the stage, shooter put a hole thru plate and got a procedural penalty. This just goes to show you how things happen when you are on the clock. I would hope that USPSA would come up with one way to cool down, then we could practice and be quick, safe and smooth.
  11. Looking for advise on unloading your AR on a multi-gun stage. I have found during a tournament this action takes more concentration than shooting. What is the safest and what is the quickest? I feel dropping the mag and then discharge a round down range is not the safest. I always end up rechecking the chamber for clear before leaving the gun. If I drop the mag and eject the round manually, it feels like it takes forever. I want to practice cooling down before ssm3gun 2005, just need some advise what works best. Thanks
  12. I have been shooting 3-gun for the first full season this year. I am planning a trip to 2005 Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun this spring. I would like some advise on where to stay, what equipment and gear to take, where to eat and what to except from the stages etc. I was planning to go to 3-Gun nationals, but all the bad stories I heard from last year changed my mind. I have been advised my money would be better spent on this match???? This will be my first time flying with all these guns and equipment to a major match. thanks for any advise you post. I shoot Open Class and will my CR speed holster be ok to use safely????
  13. I have had a new JP CTR-02 for one year now, 18 inch med,JP ACOG,and JPoint on the hand guard and low mass system. I have been in 8 matches with the rifle this year and over 3500 rounds. Had to replace carrier once so far and JP replaced at no charge. I purchased from JP a backup carrier complete Titanium carrier, works great but diffently feel the recoil compared to the low mass carrier. With the low mass carrier must keep it wet, wet, wet, wet for reliability. I have found after 100 rounds must pull carrier apart and lube it all up, if I don't at 125 rounds starts to short stroke, can't let it get dry. Its like a race car, needs alot of fine tuning, but when it runs WOW! We shoot out to 300 meters and with the ACOG I have no problems with any type of targets. I use WalMart white box Winchester 55 gr. works great for me and very accurate out to 300 meters. I will try the new JP lite carrier stainless after my low mass carrier wears out. This was my first season shooting action rifle and I feel because of my CTR-02 I was able to be competitive with alot of very good rifle shooters. I hope this gives you some advise from a new rifle shooters view.

  15. Bill We are thinking of having the New York State Rifle Match April 30th and May1st, shoot either day. Please let me know if you hear a date for that Steel match in Pa. We want to make sure all the snow is melted. Thanks Louie
  16. I would like to thank Jim and Dave and all the other workers for all their hard work and efforts. You guys put on a great match. Being a shooter of this great 3Gun sport, we need lots of dedicated people like your selfs to keep this great sport growing. I am a Open shooter who went tactical and I sure did miss my shotgun speed tubes. I had alot of fun and it was very challenging. Thanks again Louie Hope to see you guys at our April 05 New York State Rifle Match PS I hope Dave will be wearing his tights again in New York.
  17. I have been shooting 124 MG in CMJ and JHP for last 2 seasons. I switch to 125 Zero bullets JHP and they are very very accurate and excellent feeding reliability. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed.
  18. Jim If I understand your match scoring, par-time for all stages and time has no effect on scores only if you go beyond time limit. correct????
  19. Maybe we should make it the end of April, all the snow should be melted by then. If you loved shooting at those 300 yard targets, wait till next match and see what you will be shooting at????
  20. I would like to thank all 55 rifle shooters that made our first rifle match a success. Square Deal Sportsmen will hold our 2nd rifle match in April 2005. We learned alot from our first match and will make improvements to better our 2nd match. We fired off over 11,000 rounds during that day of shooting, wow what a ball! If you have any ideas on future rifle stages please e mail them to me at hockeydad@stny.rr.com subject rifle stages. Thanks again See Ya in the spring. Louie
