Aierdale,
First of all...
GOOD SHOOTING at Area-5 50% of Jerry Miculeck and you call yourself a D class shooter?
Here is my load I shoot in My 610 for USPSA, Drop 10% and chronograph as all guns don't shoot the same ..
You are looking for an average of 840 fps with these bullets, that will give you 130,000 and a little bit.
Bullet ...... Precision 155 grn round nose ( reloads the best in revolvers )
Powder..... Vita-Vori N320 (it and Clays are the two cleanest for me)
Primers.....Federal small pistol (revolvers with soft trigger pull must have this)
Factory Over all Length 1.125 This should get your crimp just behind the first land of the bullet shoulder.
I use mixed brass and don't have any problems.
This load Makes 170,000 PF in the 610 (major).
You may substitute Clays to make your own MINOR load as you will not have any pressure trouble at the minor level but do not use it to make Major.
155grn Precision bullet .40 Round Nose
5.7 grains V.V N320 ( remember this is for Major) as I generally shoot my major loads in IDPA (no major) anyway
Federal Small Pistol primer
mixed brass
O.A.L. 1.125
If I remember right as I forgot to write it down the time I did download I think I used 5.0 grns.
If you use Clays start from the Minimum and go up until you get to around 130,000 PF (840 for 155grn)
Good Luck and see you next week.

Funny thing you mentined that Eric,
I normally shoot steel good, love shooting it but right now it is my achilies tendon...
Maybe more of that "overconfidence " thing?

I see on the forums all the time to "see what you need to see", but confidence has so much to do with our shoot too.
Kind of like the trust your sights, timing thing on some of the other threads.
Here is one to ponder on....
At the TN section the classifier was Long Range standards, won't go into stage description.
2 weeks before I went to a local club match and there they were in all their glory.
so we shoot this thing and I shoot a clean stage (no mikes) and only have 2 d hits and shot it in a total of 32 seconds with change.
So instead of doing much concentrated practice on this "stage" I do some other drills, Including the plate rack out to 50 yds.
Come match day it is drizzleing, had been raining, but not real distracting.
not really worried about this stage as I had shot it well 2 weeks before and the 50 yd plate rack went ok.
End up with 7 mikes one each on standing and kneeling (ok if no more) and 5 on prone... the guys in the squad said I started fine up in the A zone but as I shot they steadily went down and off the target.
I did end up shooting the thing in 29 plus change so maybe a little adrinaline?
Long range stuff does not scare me as once a week we shoot 12 inch plates at 100 yds.
Any suggestions? I think I was a little overconfidant and maybe did not pay enough attention to the job at hand?
Anyone else do stuff like this?

OK guys,
It seems That the only guys who know how to set up and run a 3-gun match are gone for the weekend so we are having only a Pistol USPSA match instead...
SORRY ( I am off to USPSA nationals and the range owner is going to be out of town too as his son must shoot FREE PISTOL at Bragg)
Will see you at a range somewhere, (Arkansas?)

Dajerrel,
Sorry to hear about the smoke test of the 650....
good to hear that only thing hurt is your ringing ears and the ceiling.
Smoke test of NEW 650 - BAD
Dillon fixing you right up - GOOD
BE calling to check with son to see if all was in order..... GREAT (ok maybe a little too much here)
Which primer did it? the one coming down the tube and going into the disc or the one you were seating?

benny,
Thread drift on...
Looking forward to having another 308 shooter.
you going to shoot in the Tactical division or Open? (me thinks Tactical)
will be ROing so request squadding with Me as ROs stay with the squad for the whole match. (Arkansas 3-gun)
I promise not to let the M1A trounce on your overgrown matell toy too bad
See you there, looking forward to it.
Thread drift off....
As for Major is it worth it ? as some one mentioned earlier... Look at what the winners at the Big matches are shooting.... An A is an A wheather you shoot .308, .223 or .50bmg.
I personally enjoy shooting my M1A as Rifles are made with wood stocks
and it is real satisfying when there is a long list of .223 shooters below you on the stats sheet
It all boils down to personal prefrence as far as the platform goes, IMHO when they came out with the Tactical Division they should have limited the Mags to 20 rounds max that would help even things out just a little as everyone would be in the same boat as far as round management goes.
Good Luck and see you at the range somewhere, sometime.

Carmoney,
Inside of chambers seems like the outside of cylinder, kind of powder coat looking and to the finger not real smooth.... will take FLITZ and the drimmel tool to one and see....

Thanx round gun shooter, if all else fails....

Thanks spook !!!!!!
now if only I could do them regularly, and on demand.
Oh well.... more dry fire and reload practice
Congrats on your EC win.... i understand you have some pretty swift reloads too.
good work.

BDH,
I did the same thing at the Arkansas race gun match last year......
(stage plan)
LMR, buzzer, shoot 3 targets shoot 2 targets in port, reload going around the corner finish stage.
went like this..
LMR, Buzzer, shoot 3 targets, hit eject button grab mag and reload and at same time ask out loud. " why on earth did you do that?" shoot two targets in port, reload going around corner and finish the stage.
Fortunately I was still in C class sitting right on the edge of B and reloads were good so I added only 1.3 to the stage time.
Oh yeah I forgot.... that was back when I was shooting a bottom feeder.
Hopalong.....
See you at nationals,, will reintroduce myself
-
Thanks Rhino !!
Good looking picture, I spoke with her last year at the Factory gun nationals for a few minutes, a class act.
Back to the reloads... All alphas on the target too!!!

Flex,
No not hot loads, these make 140,000 max
155 grn jacketed bullets, tite group, small fed primer.
Hop.
-
this gun is the Non PC model.
Using tite-group in these loads, they make 140000 pf. 155 grn jacketed bullets so it is not lead residue.
The inside of the holes seem to be grainy like the outside, seems to me they need to be smooth.
Thanks Mike

Damn Dan !!!!!!
Thats good with a bottom feeder
Let me know if we are going to bump heads anywhere and I will bring the crying towel to use after you show us all how to use one of them things.
Can anyone remember what Jerry Miculek did on his record setting run?

I have this new 646 with the titanium cylinder, when I shot it this afternoon if I shot one or two at a time when I ejected all the spent shells the came right out.
BUT
when shooting all six fast and trying to eject to reload fast they would not budge.
Whats the deal? any of you that have one of these have this problem.
if you let them cool off for half a second or more they come right out.
Any tips? I have also posted this question on the gunsmith thread but you know they mostly deal with bottom feeders.
I really like this gun and hope to use it in IDPA and ICORE as the 625 is the USPSA gun but these sticking shells WON'T cut it.
HELP WANTED !!!!!

At the Tennessee tactical 3-gun we shot the Texas star at 25 yds out of the back seat of a car... gun was in the car to start but you were out. (shotgun)
Still not easy but am glad it was a shot gun and not a pisol

OK it was raining today so I could not shoot my scheduled practice agenda.
Instead I put up a Metric IPSC target up under the HI-Power shed and made sure the bullets impacted the berm behind the target.
Thought I would practice draws, reloads and reaquasition of target.
Remember I'm shooting revolver now .45 ACP 625. target is 5 yds away
best draw and alpha. .87 pretty much out of control, just pulled the trigger when the front sight hit the bottom of the A zone.
Best draw and 2 alpha .94 with a .20 split.
Here is the best though.
Best draw, shoot 2 reload, shoot 2 reload shoot 2 (really no kidding)
1.07draw .20 split 1.97 reload .21 split 1.85 reload .21 split. !
Before today I had never hit 2 sub 2 second reloads in a row.
I could get one but the other was always slower.
if I avereaged 10 reloads I think it would come out around 2.25 so the dry fire and reload practice is helping
Thanks for ya'lls time.

I have recently aquired a Smith & Wesson 646, 4 inch L frame, .40 S&W only, titanium cylinder.
I was playing with it at the range this afternoon and noticed that after I shoot all 6 shots quickly the brass will not eject until you give them a little time to cool (a second or so)
I intend to shoot this gun some in IDPA and ICORE and that is not allowable at all, the brass should easily come out and like my 625 maybe just open the cylinder and turn it up and they fall out on their own.
What do I need to do? would polishing the cylinder holes with flitz stop this problem?
All help and info greatly appreciated as I really like this little gun.

I was looking for Rudy Waldingers name in the squad lists for the USPSA Nationals and either I missed his name or he is not going to be there....
Has he quit shooting? or just can't make the big match?

UPDATE !!!!!!
STI has granted US Contegency status as long as we get 100+ !!!!
Weather here at that time of the year is lows in the mid 30s to 40s and highs in the 60s.
Range is on sandy type land and drains extremely well so rain during the week only get the set up crew wet.
On the 100+ we have had over 100 for the last 2 years (as many times as we have hosted it) and expect closer to 150 than 100.
Come on down, up or over.

I know this is posted on the main post but you know they don't have the fast reloads like we do.
Jerry M aside what are any of ya'll going to do?
I think I am shooting for all A's and not reloading, take 75 points and go to the next stage.
At the TN section the Long range standards weighted so heavy in the match that you had to not zero it ( or way down there) or you were lost.
For a Revolver shooter I call this one a Survival stage, don't let it kill you but don't kill it.

Shooting B class revolver now,
tried this thing yesterday.....
Ran overtime after the reload on all strings and didn't have real good hits
turned around and took my time and shot all As and did not even try to reload
75 points no OT !!!!! For me this is the best way to do it, if the others (revolvers Jerry excluded as he can do this! ) want to try and get some shots off and run over and get the penalty go for it and good luck.
I will take my 75 points and go to the next stage.....
Good Luck all at Nats.

oh yeah,
before you load thousands of rounds recheck them over your Chrono, I think you will find the SR primers will speed you up some so if you are using a hi-pressure powder (clays ect.) be carefull.
