  1. I got a little story for you.

I do Tool and Die work. We use Magnesieum saftey blocks in the presses when we have to work in a press. One of the guys was cutting some new blocks to length one day, and wanted to play a prank on me. He took a handful of shavings from the saw and came over to where I was at in the weld booth heating up a detail to weld. We used a rosebud tip on a propane torch to preheat the steel, since we didn`t have an oven.. Well..I`m sitting there holding the torch when all of a sudden there is a huge white flash and an explosion. He threw the shavings into the open flame from my torch. Luckily I had on a welding jacket and my gloves already or I would been seriously burned. They seen the flash from the enclosed booth all the way across the shop and everyone up in the office heard the boom.

The moral of this story... not in my gun.

  2. Another lefty shooter here.. I prefer the mag release in the standard location. Finger is definately off the trigger on mag changes, and don`t have to change my grip much to reload. Just can`t run a big head mag relaese, I tend to dump the mag when I reacquire my grip from a mag change using one.

I have a .090 front sight and am very happy with it. Don`t really see a need to go any bigger.

  3. Midas,

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to not co-witness your irons?. It`s a much better thing to have em there if you need em, than not if your optic goes TU on a stage. I get that all the time about people wanting to mount an optic above the front sight post on an AR type rifle so it doesn`t block thier sight picture. IF you pay attention to what you supposed to pay attention to, you won`t see the front sight post anyway.

The PRI mount is designed to work with the EOTech. If you try to mount an EOTech on a standard height gooseneck like the ARMS #39, you will look into the control panel of the optic when looking thru the iron sights. The PRI is made to mount the optic lower so you can see your sights thru the optic and actually be able to use them. It works very good.

I haven`t handled or used the BC mount, so I can`t comment on how it works either way.

  4. No way am I gonna sell it. Actually I`m on the list to have Bevin work his magic on it. I like the fact its light, points easy, and handles well.. for me. As Kurt points out, they don`t sponsor our sport, and are a pain in the butt to deal with, where Remington does. I switched from an 11-87 to the Benelli, guess I`ll just have to stick em both in the safe. and be different.. :)

Thanks for all the input everyone.

  5. Decisions, decisions....

I have been shooting a M1Super90 for over a year now in 3 gun and am very happy with it. My buddy picked up a Remington 1100C a week ago and decided he wanted something different. He traded it to me for my old 3 gun rifle, so now I have 2 shotguns. I am comfortable using the Benelli, and like it alot.

Would any of you guys give up the Benelli for the Remington and why would you if you chose to do so?

  6. HK is the only people who make the MK23 mags. If you can`t find anyone locally who sells em, drop me a line. I can get em.

I haven`t seen anyone who makes a competition holster for the MK23. BladeTech will make up a belt type, but I haven`t seen a competition holster anywhere. Not that many people use it for competition.. it`s just a little too big.

  7. I ran a Comp M on my M4 for a long time. I tried the EOTech and wasn`t crazy about it at first. I have since changed my mind. Side by side, the EOTech is much faster for CQB and urban work. Put the big circle in the chest and pull the trigger, and if you need precision the 1 MOA dot serves that purpose better than the 3 or 4 MOA dot in the Aimpoint.

Another good point about the EOTech is, you do not need a separate mount to put it on the weapon ( assuming it is a flattop). You do need one with an Aimpoint. Your going to pay as much for an Aimpoint as you will for the EOTech, before you buy the mount.. which ranges anywhere within $95 to $175 depending on what you get. The EOTech will bolt right on.

Don`t waste your time with the Trijicon reflex. The reticles wash out in bright light, even with the polarizing filter.

  8. I was squadded with a team when SOF was still SOF and they were all using the Ready-Mag carriers on thier rifles. We had a stage you had to start out shooting prone. Every one of them left thier spare mag on the deck when they got up to go to the next stage. I run mine on my belt or a drop rig, depending on the stage.

  9. Flex,

We spent a few hours discussing that very topic at a gun show over the weekend ( DH is a buddy of mine) . I told him to come here and see what everyone else would think of his choice. There is alot of other ways he could go considering what he wants to spend. No knocks against the Baer guns, just think he could do better for the money, and still have money left over for the reloader.

I told him just get what you will be comfortable and get out and shoot it, have fun with it, and learn. Over time he can base his next game gun purchase on his own experience. Cuz he really likes my SVI.. :)

  10. I can get ya the barrel and +4 extention for the mag tube. I got the same barrel your looking for to a buddy of mine a few months ago. It did have a hi-vis on the front if I remember correctly. Both are Factory Benelli parts.

I remember talking with Bevin Grams about doing some work on my M1S90 and he mentioned he was shortening the LOP too.. might want to try that route.

Haven`t seen anything like the bolt handle your looking for.. can`t help ya there.

If your interested in the bbl and tube you can email me and we`ll get ya situated.

    Thanks,

  11. Erik,

George did a pretty good job covering your questions. Just one thing I thought I should add.

I don`t think the Ghost is gonna fly if your planning on shooting in Tactical class. In that class holsters and mag carriers have to be work on the midline or behind..al`la Production rules.

7.2.7 Holsters and magazine/speed loader pouches will be worn on the belt at or behind the point of the hip.

I run a Safariland 561 for my SVI with good luck. They come with a spacer so you can fit the full length dustcover with no problems. You might want to look at those. The match is getting closer, and I usually have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get anything made from Blade-Tech. If you know someone that can make it up quick for you cool. Might wanna figure that out quick.

This is going to be my first SMM3G also. I do have a few friends I shoot at the WC3Gun with that have shot it before, they told me its pretty much a hose-fest compared to that match. Looking forward to getting out there. See ya there.

  12. I have been thinking about trying MOR this year myself.

Your going to have a hard time finding a Long Action DM magazine for the 700 with a round count higher than 4. Don`t know of anyone who is making them. If you find someone whos making a conversion, your gonna pay to have the rifle changed over if your using the ADL you mentioned. The Tubb rifle uses mags that are readily available, albiet expensive. Might be another way for ya to go.
