  1. I am definitely interested. I use a LOT of LE range brass that has been Glocked. At least 20% will not gauge. This is after using RCBS, Dillion, and Lee sizing dies. The Lee's do a much better job, but I still have the run quite a lot through the pass through. I wold love to be able to roll size several thousand rounds at a time.

  2. Keep them coming. We have 30k plus members, several hundred on at any given time. I would like to see the total responses for this poll get into the couple hundred range to be useful for lots of different questions for future readers as well.

In my 5" STI Limited gun, I am loading 180 FMJ (PD) to 1.185 with 5.0 N320 for a PF of 169. You need to work up your own loads. Everyone likes something different and some barrels are faster than other.

  3. I've got an old Kimber Clackamas Classic Custom that I purchased new in 1996. It's my first handgun, and the gun I started shooting USPSA with. I had an original Bo-Mar put on it as well as a S&A magwell back when. It's the most accurate pistol I've ever owned, but the reliability has always been spotty, regardless of magazines. I had sent it to Kimber about 5 years ago to have the chamber re-cut (mine was one of the early run with slightly oval chambers), but it's still having 3-point failures about 1 out of every 100 rounds. Which means about 1 failure per match when I'm shooting SS. Looking at the classic causes, the only thing I can potentially see is that the frame ramp to barrel distance isn't quite the 1/32" spec, but there is a gap there.

There's a part of me that says retire the old girl and just shoot my CZ's until I can save up the scratch for a Les Baer or an STI. But I'd also like to get it running, and running well. Is reliability work on the Kimber something to trust to the local gunsmith, or is there someone I should talk to about sending it off?

PM's are fine if you'd rather not broadcast to the world.

I have been very happy with the work of Jeff Abernathy in NC. You should give him a call and see what he says.

  4. Wow! Great looking piece. I really like the clean lines and the overall set up. I have had a looked at Jeff's website, but I think you had a few things done that he doesn't list. If I may be so nosey, about what was the cost to refurbish? Again, great looking gun.

Thanks! I was right around a grand for everything. Parts, labor and hard chrome.

  5. Congratulations on a great looking gun! I never thought about buying a used 2011 and having it fixed up like this, I just got my STI APEIRO so when i get it broken in maybe I will give a Jeff a call!

    Thanks for posting the pics.

Thanks. The gun runs fantastically. I shot the snot out of it Sunday. I really like the lightened slide. Seems to smack me in the hand more but the muzzle flip seems greatly reduced. I can get back on target much faster than before.

  6. What kind of press and dies are you using? Have any photos of cases that you're having issues with?

I am using a 1050 with RCBS dies. The brass, I bought 10k mixed. Don't have any pics. What should I be looking for?

The issue I am having is that a few times (3-4) per hundred, my slide won't go all the way into battery. A sharp wack to the back of the slide sends it home. I case gauge all match ammo. I just thought it would be a better idea to pick up a cheap single stage press and size them all.

  7. One last picture showing the undercut trigger guard. I am going to try to get the grip stippled and painted this weekend if time allows.

I can't say enough good things about Jeff. He went out of his way to make this happen very quickly. The work is outstanding and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to have work done.
