  1. 310 will be fine for a minor load. Probably somewhere around 3.4 I would start at 3.0 and work up.

I have several friends that load 310 in 40 major and have done so for many years. The burn rate is similar to Clays.

We all know the hazards of loading clays to major in 40.

  2. Don't think you can get enough of N105 in the 9mm case to make major.

I think you could make it with 3n38

    For sure with 3n37.

So I can find some 3n38. Do you have the load data for that?

I doubt you will make it with 3n38. I am loading 11 gr under a zero 121 in SC. 171 PF Trubore with 4 holes. Better go with 3n37 of hs6

  3. No. A cartridge head spaces on the case mouth the 40 is too short so the extractor will be the only thing holding it in place. It will work for a couple shots but the extractor should blow off.

Not necessarily. There are folks that have been doing just this for years. The extractor holds the case, but the pressure is rearward into the breech face. Same as shooting 9major in a 38 Super/Comp

  4. If it was allowed, I would have shot both the 2 left and 2 right arrays tight against the barrels.

This would emlinate two positions in the video. Shoot everything in the middle on the move then go forward.

You couldn't see both arrays from any one position. You had to go outside.

  5. OK, so my XDM with a C-more Carver mount on it completely failed me today. I've almost changed everything to get it to cycle correctly with the Carver mount and it's not working (the problem some of you might know about is that the casings would bounce off the mount and cause problems).

So anyway, I've decided the Carver mount has to go and I'll just start using some slide mounted optic. The main problem I'm having is that no sight can compare to C-more (the full version whatever they call it not the RTS/STS stuff). So I have the option of the following, which one do you think is closest to the C-More (i.e. which is the second best)?

    DeltaPoint – 7.5MOA

    FastFire 3 - 8MOA

    JP Point – 8MOA

    Docter – 8MOA

As in, C-more shooters out there, if you have tried the above, which one is best for open shooters and closest to c-more?

    thanks in advance...

I know it's not on your list, but if the new version will survive, the Cmore RTS is awesome. I don't like any slide mount optics.

  6. Shot my first sectional match on Friday and got completely demolished. This video is fairly representative. I got 142 out of 150 points but shot it in 27.24 s vs. 18.13 s for the stage winner. What should I be doing in practice beyond trying to shoot like what little hair I have is on fire?

I'm good at Steel Challenge, and a classifier match last month landed me an A for my initial classification, but I'm not turning that into respectable field course performances.

    Andreas,

You shot that stage fine, just very slow. I shot it the same way you did, just about 8 seconds faster. I never stopped moving. Get the gun up and start shooting sooner. The speed will come.

  7. IMHO, it's a foolish practice that has a documented potential for injury. I could care less about injury to the shooter who does it, but am concerned about injury to the SO/RO who is required to peer into the chamber and monitor the ULSC.

Foolish or not, not caring about injury to your shooter is probably the most negligent statement I have read in this thread. I sincerely hope you said it just to prove your dislike for the round flipping, and truly don't feel that way.

If a person choses to engage in a foolish... show off... potentially dangerous action... then NO, I really don't care if they suffer an injury. Let Darwin rule there.

But, the SO/RO is required to be right there at the ULSC and is placed in a potentially hazardous position because some 'hotshot' wants to show how 'cool' he is on YouTube.

That is my objection to the 'flip & catch". YMMV .... insert a pleasent Smiley here.

Again, I don't know of anyone who does it to be 'cool', but I'd rather address your other superstition; I fail to see the potentially hazardous situation you are describing? are you actually sticking your face in there to try and see the chamber during the flip and catch? If so, you are doing it wrong. Let the shooter flip and catch (or unload in any other normal safe manner) with your face elsewhere, then let him show you the empty chamber.

Get real! The only reason someone does the "catch & flip" is TO LOOK COOL. Why else would anyone go through those gymnastics just to clear a round from the chamber of a semi-auto pistol?

The 'catch & flip' has resulted in cartridge detonation. Superstition? Sorry... just fact! As Yogi Berra once said "You can look it up". I actually saw one, but wasn't the SO running the shooter. That SO had minor bleeding from fragments, and fortunately, no major fragments penetrated the face or eyes. He was lucky.

If the SO/RO is standing in the proper position... within three feet on the shooter's right side (for a right handed shooter) during the ULSC, any cartridge detionation CAN (and probably will) affect that SO/RO. With the ejection port facing upwards, which is necessary to do the "cool" catch & flip, any detonation will be funneled upwards and outwards. It's happened.

It's called a 'directional blast'... did some of that in the military. It's also a 'real thing'... but maybe not in your world.

If the shooter turns the pistol to the right and down and just puts the round on the ground, any detonation is contained in the ejection port and won't do more than spread minot shrapnel to the lower legs and feet.

Why not do that and minimize the chance of injury? Ohh wait... I know!... It's because it doesn't "LOOK COOL".

As for 'showing me an empty chamber... when I run into a 'catch & flipper' you can bet they will show me an empty chamber.... maybe a dozen times before I'm satisfied that it is actually empty. Most 'catch & flippers' get the message from this IDPA CSO after the first stage.

Attitudes like yours, are the reason I refuse to shoot IDPA.

  8. Yes they do, when I ordered mine he said it was about a 6 month wait, that was about 3 months ago. I have been in contact with him with the following email infuzed2@comcast.net

That means you only have about 28 months to go... maybe. I know people who have been waiting over 2 years and he told them 6 months too.
